Counting calories is definitely worth the time and effort. It is the only way you are going to be able to make sure you actually take in less than you burn. That is what causes weight loss.

Also, weighing portions, although tedious, has really helped me to see that what I thought was a normal portion size is actually a lot more than it should be! I was eating way too much before.

Good luck- I have found the tools available on this site to be really helpful. You just need to spend a bit of time familiarising yourself with it all. It is definitely worth the effort when you lose the weight that you want to.

Oh, and I also buy a lot of frozen chicken and fish. I get plain cheap fish fillets. As for chicken, I either get the raw frozen breast portions or the cooked pieces. Aldi do a great range by oakhurst that isn't too dear and has several flavours. I cook it from frozen, but it is actually already cooked and just needs defrosting I think. I think Iceland and Farm Foods also do quite a lot of cheap, frozen meat that is a bit better for you than cheapy sausages!

What about tuna- 23g protein per standard tin? The supermarket own brands are fine and I eat the Tesco version (23.5g protein, 138 cals). A tin a day for lunch. You can make a lot of stuff with tuna so it doesn't get limited to just on salads! I like to mix it up with mashed up sweet potato and beans and pulses etc and generally experiment..

What exactly do you mean by complete protein anyway?

You shouldn't cut out fats completely- good fats are very important for the body. Do a search for healthy fats, have a look around this site. Avocados, olive oils (among others), nuts, cheese etc... they are important for the body to work properly.

I have to say, it's worked pretty well.

I'd say if you're making yourself puke- then yes, you are 'technically' sufferring from an eating disorder. 'Obviously' would be the more apt word though.

People that don't have eating disorders do not purge...

Hey guys. I'm having a nightmare with Jillian Michaels! I had that week off for reasons mentioned earlier. I tried to do level 1 on the Tuesday and I actually just switched it off before I'd even completed the first set! I said to myself 'I can't be arsed' and switched it off. It's the first time I've done that before- normally I just push on with it.

I am totally bored of that dvd now which is a big bummer because I never made it to level 3! I will say though that the dvd has helped me a lot though. I use her stretches and warm ups/ cool downs now after I do my weights.

I got some advice on my workout and apparently it was naff. there were too many exercises and not enough sets. So now, it is a 1 hr weights session (1-1.5hrs) with 3 sets of 9-12 exercises. I still do it mon-weds-fri.

I bought my skipping rope in to work today and have had a few minutes on that in the warehouse. I think I'll try and fit in little bursts to get me up to 10-20 minutes. It's hard work jumping rope!!

Anyway, I hope you guys are still working out a little bit, even if not the dvd. Sorry but my motivation to do the shred has completely gone!! Hopefully it will come back soon... Embarassed  Hope you're all ok.

Hi guys. I think my boss may have left today for the USA... but he hasn't left a message or anything. Typical. But anyways, I've brought my weights back in to the office just in case and all my workout gear. So, if I find out he's left, I'll have a go at the dvd today.

I have had such a bad week! I took my weights home but did not do any exercise at all, I also had a pretty poor diet. We had this Italian student staying with us so I couldn't just give him a bit of fish and broccoli! So, we had a lot of pasta, chilli, bread, rice, cheese etc... Not so good.

I will try my hardest to do the dvd at least 4 days this week. I'm off on a mini camping trip on the weekend so may not do it Friday, we'll see. Anyway, I won't be going to level 3 this week. I may do level 1 today, then back to level 2 and possibly start level 3 next week.

Come on guys!!! We can all do it... we've just got to dig out that last, teeny bit of motivation to push ourselves to workout. If you are getting bored though- don't just stop- try something else, or maybe even alternate between the shred and some other dvds or workouts. I think it is such a good, short workout that I will try to keep it in my routine even if I do start doing other stuff instead.

Hi, Iapologizenow, good luck with the dvd- it's a killer!! Let us know what you think of it. I was shocked after my first go, I thought it was going to do me in!

? Torta? Also sounds like it could have been crepas.

I'm getting sick of this handheld's word replacement therapy.

You know what, I'm beginning to think it may have been crepas. But, I'm sure it was called something else. I would have remembered the word crepas- surely! I mean, it's the same in nearly every language I know! I am convinced it had a Q in it ( but not quesadillas). never mind.

Thanks again guys!

You know what, with all these, even if they are not the specific one I'm thinking of, you guys have all really helped me out. I am going to get all the recipes/ methods for these and make them all and feel like a 21 year old again back out in Mejico Laughing

"As a keen cook myself, I LOVE it when people buy me interesting ingredients or spices, particularly things I wouldn't spend for myself - an expensive bottle of olive oil or something"

These presents are great. I know a lot of men that enjoy gifts like that- and myself and other women too. You can get like funky, fancy bright coloured oils and dressings in nice coloured bottles. Or exotic spices in fun or funky shaped holders.

If you know he likes a particular country's food style, you could make up a little hamper with traditional ingredients say, for a Thai 3 course meal or whatever. Then hopefully, he'll offer to cook it for you and him one night Wink

I think they're more personalised to location. I've never entered a burger in my food log... but I have been to a certain king's website on this computer to check out the calorie content... my cookies must be being read by some programme that I agreed to... somewhere in the fine print of something or other....

I think you look great. I also think (in my own opinion) that you really don't at all need to lose any weight, let alone 5kg! I just read your last journal entry and I find it a bit difficult to understand why you'd put yourself in a situation where it's quite likely that you may hear unwanted things about your weight or figure. I say it's 'likely' only because we all know that some modelling agencies/ photographers look for ridiculously thin and dangerously underweight people at times- not that there is in any way anything wrong with how you look. I'm sure you know how great and healthy you look now anyway. That's just my own view.

My ads keep showing me burgers!! How do they know what my favourite food is? How come I don't get cake- it would be easier to not be distracted! And I've never logged a burger or anything before so it can't have got it from here... hhhmmmm.

They are my favourites :)

Sorry, but it's not these either Undecided

Thanks for the efforts though! Gorditas... yum... I'm remembering those now :)

Just wish I could remember that one thing I'm after!!! Thanks again for your help guys.

Flautas... yum, I used to get those in this bar where we watched the football (soccer) and they put cheese in them. And I had this awesome, super hot chilli soup with them. Nice memories :)

Mmmm. Tortas. If I remember rightly, I used to get some tortas for breakfast now and again. But they were more like bread rolls filled with pig, cheese and chilli. Yum! I had forgotten those :)

I know the word for what I mean, but I just cannot for the life of me remember it... I'm sure it won't come back either with all the mezcal and tequila that robbed me of so many memories.... and brain cells....!

Thanks :)

Thanks- I used to eat green and red enchiladas but mostly for lunch or dinner. I have been stressing my brain out trying to remember my late night street food snacks....

I remember all those you said because I still eat them here in the Uk very regularly!

Really, no one has mentioned beans & peas?  Not as low-cal per gram protein as tuna, chicken or skim milk products, but pretty good considering they have fiber as well.

 Ummm.. I did!! Laughing
