Mix 1tbsp flour with 2tbsp lemon pepper seasoning. Dip 4 chicken breasts in the mixture. Brown in a skillet with small amount of butter or oil (~3 mins each side). Meanwhile zest and juice half a lemon and mix with 1 cup of chicken stock. After chicken is browned, pour stock/lemon mixture over chicken breasts, cover, and let simmer 15 minutes. Uncover and cook ~5 minutes more, or until chicken is cooked through. Serve over grain of your choice. This is one of my favourite low-cal ways to prepare chicken! |

Try this recipe, it's AMAZING, I could eat it every day (and I practically do!). It gets an A- on this site. I used shredded carrots and peas instead of the veggies she used, and I can barely taste the veggies at all. I also used Prego tomato sauce in mine, which is just personal preference, and I added a few red pepper flakes for just a hint of spice. Healthy sloppy joes: http://bit.ly/HmLRnw |

believe it or not, that's quite reasonable! our bodies are burning calories all the time. even when you are sitting still, all your bodily processes are still going on inside you, and they all use energy (i.e. calories!) to function! |

Oh man, sweets are certainly my downfall as well (though I can't believe how much I've resisted them since starting this!) My first goal is 173, at which point my BMI will be into the 'healthy weight' range. I will set a new goal when I get there :) |

Thanks! I've been snooping around and I found the pumpkin one too -- too bad it makes 24 instead of a couple! The pumpkin probably makes it healthier, but at the same time you're getting all the processed stuff from the box. Moreover, my recipe is 150/cupcake (the 1 tbsp of icing makes up for the rest!). Better news: My cupcake craving has greatly diminished this morning :) Let's hope I can keep it under wraps and not have to resort to a cupcake at all! |

I'd love to have it! If I don't have all the ingredients to make it this time, I'll save it for next time! |

I read this WHOLE thread yesterday, then hiked to the grocery store today to hunt down meringue cookies at your suggestion. I couldn't find any!! but what I found instead were Kambly Butterfly cookies.. they are super thin almond cookies and they have 10 calories each! Plus I absolutely LOVE them. They are not 'good' for you, just low cal. |

| Weight Loss | anyone know of any good 500 calorie breakfasts? | Apr 07 2012 15:15 (UTC) |

usually for breakfast I have a slice of toast with avocado (179 cals), and a greek yogurt (100 cals). That plus my coffee makes me feel SO stuffed, but if I didn't have the coffee I would probably add a fruit like an apple (80 cals) or banana (100 cals). Sometimes for a treat I will have a mango (130 cals). So, moral of the story is, the actual food I eat is never as much as 500 cals for breakfast, but I put cream in my coffee so it usually ends up being about 500 cals. But I'm well aware those calories are essentially a waste. |

| Foods | What is your secret to creating filling, low calorie meals? | Apr 07 2012 15:09 (UTC) |

protein and fats -- a boiled egg, some avocado or peanut butter on my toast in the morning, always having some form of protein with each meal (usually chicken breast or extra-lean ground beef for me, due to personal preference). I also try to incorporate protein into my snacks, in the form of yogurt dip with my veggies or some nuts or yogurt with my fruit. Basically, my main strategy is to have protein, carbs, and fruit/veggies in every meal. This combination works the best for me and keeps me full the longest. I can get a meal of chicken, rice, and veggies for under 400 cals. Fibre is good too :) |

I'm having my 'healthy' sloppy joes that I made (they get an A- on this site and are super delicious), with a side of beets, and for 'dessert' I'm having an apple and a tangerine. Still have 100 cals left so I might treat myself to something else (small) :) |

you can make super low cal dips from greek yogurt, which you can also use as a spread (look online for recipes). today I made a curry dip, I used 2% greek yogurt and also a bit of honey in the dip and I think it was like 20 cals for a tbsp? if you use low-fat yogurt and no honey it would be even less. this is versus like 100 cals/tbsp for mayonnaise! A lot of people recommend mustard, since it's low cal. |

I don't see this feature coming out very soon, just because the sheer volume of items would make it overwhelming/difficult to navigate. That said, one way to discover "A" rated foods is to look at people's food logs in the calorie camp. Furthermore, check out this website about the 'world's healthiest foods' Because of the way calorie count determines food grades, these foods might not always get an A, but you will know you are eating things that are good for your body anyway. Good luck with your cooking endeavours! |

Try not bringing change with you to work so you can't buy anything from the vending machines, and obviously do not buy any junk when you go grocery shopping. Good luck! |
