He can't carry it on his own, but takes the other end for me. He's 4'7" and weighs 105lbs. Unfortunately, pictures would not be available, as he is only my go to guy when there is no one else around. He can also lift and move me out of his way when we are playing around, and I'm currently 191lbs... |

My 9yr son gets slapped w/ the "F" word quite often, and he is by no means fat. The kid is built like a brick wall, and is my go-to guy to help me lift anything heavy (2 sheets of drywall at a time!) when my husband is not around. He is however, not built like most of the skin and bones kids in his class either, so he gets called FAT. Kids are cruel, and lets face it, many adults are just as cruel, some just have better brain to mouth filters than others

I HATE RICE! Well maybe hate is too strong a word, but growing up, Chicken Fried rice was a meal in itself (like 3 cups of rice, ugg!) at least once a week, and I think I more than OD'd. However, now I find myself forcing myself to cook it once/twice a week for the sake of my husband, and it turns out, my kids don't like rice either! Whodathunk? I unfortunately, have no skill in the cooking of the rice, so I use Minute Rice, and I can eat it if I use low sodium chicken broth instead of the water, or If I put a bunch of spray butter on it w/ salt and pepper. |

Well I don't know about you, but when I'm craving something, I can try 3 or 4 other things before I realize that if I had just satisfied my craving I probably would have eaten less calories! So I always have Frozen Yogurt in my freezer; currently Cappucino Swirl & Caramel Pecan Crunch. Both come in at 100 cals & 1.5 g fat for a 1/2 cup serving. I just fill my measuring cup then sit down and savour every last bite! Frozen yogurt has come a long way! |

Hmmm, I have a few things hanging in my closet that I bought by size, but not by trying them on... Oops! Hello Motivation! But I have one pair of really cute knee length H&M jean shorts that I ended up with by accident! Our local Thrift shop was having a bag sale on clothes and my 8 yr old daugther grabbed a bag and went crazy stuffing it full! Got home and it turns out that someone had ditched the shorts on the kid rack and she thought they were really cute capris and looked at the size tag which said 10 and figured she was good to go. lol Yay for me! So very close to wearing them!

I used to enjoy Buffy- the series, tried True Blood, wasn't sold at first, but I got thru the first season, and I might try borrowing the next seasons. But my addiction is Supernatural- a little bit of vampires, a little bit of werewolves, and a lot of other interesting stuff! Not to mention the main characters- ***sigh*** |

Black bean burgers! My kids love em and had no idea! We even use homemade guac on them instead of mayo, however, just the sight of guac turned my stomach until I was about 30yrs old and finally gave it a try, so you might want to avoid that one... lol http://www.heartandstroke.on.ca/site/c.pvI3Ie NWJwE/b.3582181/k.4A86/Recipes__Beef_and_blac k_bean_burgers.htm |

Unfortunately, I'm a firm believer that true motivation comes from within... I was the exact same way, "Tomorrow is a new day!" but tomorrow just never seemed to come. My AHA! moment was when my daughter came into our room in the middle of the night sick to her stomach, and I had to struggle to find a way out of bed as my weight had started affecting my lower back and knees. I was mortified, and that was it! I couldn't just hop out of bed to console my baby girl, because I chose food over health on a daily basis. That was March 6th and 14lbs ago, and I already feel a million times better. Some people get medical test results that they don't like, or go to put on a favorite pair of jeans that they had been avoiding, but whatever it is, there is usually some catalyst that starts their weight loss journey off. Good luck! Hope you find your aha moment soon. |

Well, I'm 5'10" 201# and now, just somewhere in between a 14 & a 12. Yes, I am in no womans land! A frustrating place to be I might add! The measurements that I took when I started @ 214# weren't the same ones as you, but lets just say I have a chest (not bust- 41), a belly (45), and no hips (40)... Man I wish I had hips! I can slip my jeans off without undoing my belt :o( Which means that I am forever hiking up my jeans... |

Well, it seems that thankfully my healthy eating habits may have in fact been inbedded in my brain already. I haven't been on the site to log food since last Monday, it's been hectic busy round here! Unfortunately, I also haven't done a single workout, but have been on my feet from 6am-9pm almost every day, so that ups my burn a bit. Anyhoo, here's my results: Last weeks weight- 203 This week- 201.4 Not the 2lbs/week that I have set for myself, but given the circumstances, not complaining in the least! Happy Monday everyone! |

I've always been a little concerned to hit maintenance cals too. But I've got this eating at a deficit thing under control, so really other than getting to eat more, as long as I still log my foods and do the math, I should be ok... There is obviously going to be a learning curve, so I wouldn't be overly concerned about 2 days of eating over your cals, now that you're aware, just stay on top of it. And I definetely wouldn't worry about "a chocolate"! I work a treat of some sort into my cals every day! Either half a Cuban Lunch (chocolate w/ peanuts) that one of our neighbors always makes for us, or 1/2 cup of Caramel Pecan Crunch frozen yogurt etc... I figure it's those treats that keep me from going insane and staying on track. |

Well I guess I'll go first, gotta get my day rollin'! SW-214 (March 6) CW- 203 (March 21) Down 2lbs from Friday, which as I said yesterday is probably due to a decrease in my salt intake. Just wanted to point out that I think this group accountability thing is already working, because I had no intention of working out yesterday. But we had one of those sketchy suppers that you don't know how to log, Tex Mex casserole, and even tho I pulled mine out before the really "bad" stuff got added, I was still worried I had gone over my cals for the day so after obessing about it for an hour, at about 7pm I dragged my butt downstairs to my gym and put in a 1/2 on the eliptical! Didn't want to mess up my weigh in today. Thanks everyone! |

Search the net for "Nertz" It is a blast, you can play as singles or in pairs. We went away for a girls w/e and played this in the lounge of our hotel and ended up having 4 additional players ask to join! You just need a deck of cards per person or team. |

Unfortunately, these things happen... And it doesn't even have to be over the phone/online. Last summer we had a crew of guys, 3 or 4 of them, that were going door to door looking to refinish peoples driveways. They had pics of these beautiful peastone covered driveways that they had supposedly done, and for just $3000, they could make your cracked old driveway look just like that! Well, they managed to scam about 25 of the people in town ( some are very savy people) into doing it, and all they did was spread tar on the driveway, and press about $30 worth of pea gravel into it! The process took all of about 2hrs per house, and they told people not to use their driveway for a few days to make sure that it set properly, by which time this "crew" was long gone. All these poor people had weeds growing up through their driveways by the end of summer, and shoveling snow on it is next to impossible! 25 people X $3000 = $75,000.00 for what I would guess is less than $1500 worth of materials and 2 days work... Sometimes, it's really hard to see the big picture until it's gone...

I found this awesome recipe for Black Bean Burgers... I know, I know, but you use mashed black beans with ground beef, so it ups the fiber and drops the fat, and they were AWESOME! My 7 & 9 yr olds asked for seconds which in my house means that recipe hits the top of the rotation pile! http://www.heartandstroke.on.ca/site/c.pvI3Ie NWJwE/b.3582181/k.4A86/Recipes__Beef_and_blac k_bean_burgers.htm I then topped them with a little low fat homemade guac that I make and the usual veggies and OMG I was in heaven! |

So I had an AHA! moment a couple days ago... I've been counting calories and exercising, and the scale has been moving in a downward direction, YAY! But given my deficits, it didn't seem to be moving quite as fast as I would have thought. Now I know what you're thinking, it's not as simple as the math leads you to believe, :oP but I knew it had to be more than just that. It had to be the dreaded <salt> she says in a whisper. I am a salt-a-holic! Always have been, my DH says that I have gotten much better over the years, but I find that when I was losing weight last time, I kept telling myself- "You're cutting down the calories, and ditching so much fat, what's a little sodium to make things taste good?" I figured that I would worry about the cals/fat for now, and deal with that dreaded little mineral later. So, I blended up some spices and threw them in a shaker and tried that for the last 2 days. Read the Nutr. labels and made some choices based on sodium, and here I am, 2 days later, 2lbs lighter! I know it's just my body finally letting go of the water weight, but now the math works, which for me is the linear answer that my OCD brain needed. lol! Happy Sunday Everyone! TTY tomorrow. |

I'm in! I'm 5'10" currently 205, looking to get down to 175 to start and then I'll re-evaluating my goals based on how I feel in my skin. I'm a 35 yr old mother of 2, Boy- 9, Girl-7 and I live outside of a small town in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. I have been on this journey before, and I did win ( lost this same 50lbs in Spring of 09), but some pretty intense circumstances (lost our home to a fire, and my DH and I built our new one=no time to cook healthy or energy to exercise) caused me to jump off the wagon. I am back on there, on the road to a happier, healthier me and would love to make some friends along the way!

Too funny! My soda addict husband switched to diet cola because he refused to give it up and was drinking 4 litres a day. He did lose 20lbs in 6 weeks because of it, but now he also knows that it was the sugar in his pop that was causing his chronic heartburn. He has since converted many of his buddies to diet pop for that very reason and they all rave about his "revelation" |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
