About
| Bio | I am a 31 year old mother of a beautiful 2 year old daughter. Other than working full time and being a mom full time, my favorite hobby is scuba diving. A few years back I changed my who outlook on diet and exercise and made a lot of what I thought would be lifetime changes. I lost 45 lbs (from 175 - 130 lbs), was working out (weights and cardio) 6-7 times a week, had started eating very healthy and completely changed by eating habits. This lasted for about 3 years. Unfortunately, a move overseas and a few months traveling saw my eating habits start to falter and my exercise regime lose its consistency. I then moved to Australia.got married and got pregnant. I used the pregnancy as an excuse to pretty much eat whatever I wanted and fell back into all my bad eating habits. Being a new mom and working full time is not very conducive to working out and for the 2 years since the birth of my daughter, its been very difficult for me to get back into living healthy. I have avoided scales at all cost because I didn't want to know how much I had fallen. About 2 weeks ago, I took the plunge and stood on a scale to discover I was back up to 167 lbs. I made a decision right there to get back into shape and start eating better. But, having a 2 year old, working full time, and having a husband who works fairly late nights and most weekends, makes it nearly impossible to go to a gym (which I used to love and know would be the best way for me to get back to a regular weights/cardio routine). So, I have resolved to get up at 5:30 am every other morning for now and exercise for 30 minutes to start my path to getting back into shape. I just want to be healthy again and not get winded when I am playing with my daughter, or walking up stairs carrying her, and lose some weight along the way!
UPDATE: Well, I am down 22 lbs from the start of my journey back in Nov 07. I can easily keep up with my two year old these days, and I am faithfully running consistently (usually 5 times a week). I am now up to 5 miles on my long run (soon to be 6) and absolutely love the fact that I can now call myself a "runner." I will start training soon for a race or two towards the end of this year and then a half marathon next year. UPDATE 6 Aug 2008: Somehow I ended up below my goal weight without even noticing! I have beaten my scale addiction, I have lost 35 lbs, and I am running a half marathon in a month. It is absolutely amazing the difference a year can make! Oh yeah, and I DEFINITELY don't get winded anymore playing with my daughter! Although, she still has more energy than me, but I guess thats part of being 2.5 years old
