1. Basics: age, height, lowest weight/BMI, goal weight/BMI? (*do not answer if it will trigger) 20 (nearly 21 :P) 171cm, lowest 37.1kg, current 48kg, goal BMI 20 (around 57.. Christ, that's scary..) 2. How long did you have an ED? How long have you been in recovery? Since I was nine. Recovery (proper) since 2008 with some slips. 3. What made you decide to recover? University. My heart. My family. Friends. My boyfriend. 4. How supportive are your friends/family? Family: very complicated... Friends: Brilliant, though I don't talk about it much. 5. How many calories are you eating now? Struggling with a binge/restrict cycle. 6. The biggest challenge you have faced during recovery? No longer being thin and 'special.' 7. At what weight did you (or are hoping to) get your period back? Got it back at 16 BMI. 8. How long did it take for bloating to go away or for the weight to redistribute? I don't know. 9. Things you have learned about yourself? Too much to write out... I've learned that analysing myself is addictive and makes me self indulgent though! ;) 10. What your goals are for your health for the future? To get healthy, get fit, to eat to live rather than the other way round... |

No, I know 1500 is low - my problem is that I've been eating around 1000 on 'good' days and 3000+ on 'binge' days (they are genuine out of control binges in terms of the mindset behind them - they only happen when I'm drunk - something else I'm dealing with) - so my goal now is to start eating 1500 consistently for say, 4 days, then 2000 then start the weight gain process again - well honestly my ultimate goal is to stop counting bloody calories! |

Stopped posting as had 3 days of horrible booze-induced binges (3000+) and then three days of desperately trying to make up for it... Argh. Right. Time to kick this. B 2 ex large slices wholemeal bloomer + 2 tsp light butter + marmite, coffee + skim L Delicious salad with mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, red onion, 3 oz cold roasted chicken breast, 2 tbsp sliced olives, 1 oz feta, 1 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp balsamic, parsley from the garden :) S The most delicious mango I've EVER had. Seriously, seriously good. D Roasted salmon with lemon and olive oil, warm lentil salad, mixed greens. Small glass of white wine. S Chocolate pudding pot :) 1500 (!)

Beth Of course I remember you :) Thanks for the kind words. I hope you're well! I had gained to 17.8 then stupidly thought I was 'too big' and 'fine' and coupled with stress, lost weight. My BMI is about 16 at the moment, which is irritating because I'm falling into that standard 'well it's not 12 like it was so you're fine - you don't need to START a gaining process' trap, coupled with the binges which 'prove' to my addled brain that I'm 'not ill.' I end up having say, 3/4 days a week where I'm at 3000+ (usually aided by a lot of alcohol) then days of stupid restriction.. I need some stability. And consistency. And to stop bloody drinking/smoking!!! (Though I've quit cigarettes after 6 years! On week 4 now!) At the moment I'm trying to kick myself up to posting levels for YCC on 'non-binge' days. Then 2000, then 2500 (I'm 21 on Sep 26th, so not a teen - boo) On track to meet the YCC requirements for today - yay! And not through binging.. I still read this forum because it's so inspiring, and certainly makes guilt (the GOOD 'you're not trying hard enough you utter cretin, your behaviour is the result of your own actions!' guilt, not ED) kick in.. Oooh and partyring - glad to hear I wasn't speaking out of turn! The girls in IP and OP - well they were all at various stages. Generally they were being treated for AN so yes, they were all what you'd call 'stick thin' when they came into treatment, however, during Ramadan one year I was there I remember there being 2 girls who were at target weight and about to be discharged who still didn't observe the fast as they were too fragile mentally and it wasn't conducive to normalising their relationship with food immediately after weight restoration. |

Me too. Trying to pull myself out of a binge/restrict cycle, and the way to do that is obviously to eat normally after the binges rather than restrict... But Zara, your posts are really triggering. Zara re: Ramadan - I was in IP with lots of Muslim girls, some of whom were outpatients (rather than inpatients, so they lived and ate at home and just came for group therapy stuff) and they were all told by both Imans and doctors that it would not be against Islam to not observe Ramadan in a compromised state of health - think it's Qur'an 2.184-5 or something? (I'm not Muslim so please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd never want to be offensive, I'm just suggesting that when trying to recover from an eating disorder, fasting for 16-17 hours doesn't really seem the best thing for your health.) |

I'm a little confused - where did I say it wasn't possible to recover? Totally agree with your sentiment though! |

Glad someone else knows about the whole diet Coke addiction... I'm working on it, going to try and drink at least a cup of water with each meal. B 2 x whole wheat bloomer (toasted) + light butter + marmite, coffee x 3 L Grilled sandwich on wholewheat bloomer toast: light cream cheese, tsp honey, sliced fig, red onion and arugula (rocket) - drizzled with balsamic reduction, cracked black pepper and salt and then grilled in the GF - best thing ever, though next time I'll make it with goat cheese. Plus some cucumber sticks and tomato wedges with garlic and basil. D BBQ - 1 chilli lime chicken skewer, 1 corn cob, huge mixed salad Dr 2 double vodka/diet coke (oops) |

Eroth Well that was not only incredibly rude but incredibly triggering. Hedgren is in fact a doctor and specialises in EDs. So take your determination not to get better somewhere else. |

Carrotcakelove Thanks hun! So good to see you battling on - I know it's anything but easy, but just want you to know how gorgeous you look in your most recent pictures - it's a long haul but will be worth it :) Day 2 of being a proper person. Struggled a little after dinner yesterday with feeling like I'd eaten 'too much' - in reality, I hadn't - I'd been on my feet all day and was perfectly entitled to have a nice dinner that I didn't know the calories of (even though I cooked it - I purposefully didn't 'measure' oil or weigh cheese, because it was my Mum's birthday meal and it was more important for it to TASTE good for her than it was for my ED addled brain to be able to indulge in some easy maths...) I've also realised I have a strange tendency to 'binge' on vegetables at meals - I start eating them and can't stop - it leaves me in horrific amounts of stomach pain and then I freak out - sounds so stupid, but particularly if there was something 'dense' like sweetcorn in there... Anyway, on to more positive things. Restaurant meal after pub, think FOR ONCE I managed to drink then not binge and eat the entire bread basket... On the downside, I definitely went with 'safe' options :/ B L (at work, turns out it's less exhausting when you eat :P) Dr D |

Back again... if I'm welcome? :P I'm trying to get back on track after a mini relapse. My aims are a bit different this time; I've gone back to outpatient treatment and the goal is to first move me away from strict obsessie calorie counting, become more 'relaxed' about food, then move on to gaining amounts. Everyone here is doing really well and it's inspiring to see. I'm not on gaining amounts yet, but my first 'goal of the week' is to eat lunch at work - this is today. Oh, and I quit smoking after 6 years of 20 a day! This really is the summer to sort myself out :) Breakfast 2 extra large slices wholemeal bloomer (one bit was the 'end bit' so basically 2 slices on its own!) + butter + marmite + coffee. Lunch (at work - waitressing) 2 slices leftover vegetarian pizza from yesterday, large fruit salad, Pepsi Max Snack 2 gin + slimline tonic Dinner (cooked for my Mum as it's her birthday!) Chicken breast stuffed with goat's cheese, with a parsley, apricot and mustard glaze. 2 medium new potatoes, chargrilled asparagus and red peppers. Question - How do you guys make sure you get enough water? Since I developed my ED (many moons ago) I seem to have totally forgotten to drink it - I always go for diet drinks instead (Pepsi, Sprite Zero, Fanta zero etc) - I just can't seem to make myself like plain old water, yet I realise it's not good for me to constantly have fizzy artificially sweetened things... Do you learn to crave water? |

I got mine back at a BMI of 16 after 6 years of nothing... I don't how how good an example I am though; apparently if you've lacked a period for a long long time your body can 'adapt' and get it at a much lower weight, which doesn't really represent you being truly healthy. |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
