how dare you :( That's what I get for never reading this thread: confused and angry. That was very clever of you izzzmeister, although I must be half brain dead today because it took me way to long to catch that! I guess I'll have to go bother the oarspeople on the C2 site....because otherwise I'll miss them too much. (that's not creepy, I swear) |

Excuse me, I would like to create a goal in the January challenge. You are preventing me from making resolutions I'll break. I know for a fact you had time this weekend to create a thread...where is it man? |

Sorry Man. Ever since I committed to one thing for the next 8 or so years I've had trouble committing to pretty much anything else. I'm bad at goals. |

I rowed 2k last night. WHOA! I don't like erging at my new gym...it's just weird. But my shins have been hurting a lot, I couldn't run another step, and not one elliptical (any of the 5 variations at my gym) or bike was open. I really really wanted to do cardio and the erg was the only option I had left. I forgot that erging makes my shins feels better :) but I also forgot how much it hurts after not doing it for many many weeks :( So it didn't last long...but maybe I'll do it again this month?! Regardless, count my 2k OMan! |

Our fearless leader told me yesterday that if he lives to be 95 he will not be doing any exercise, he will be enjoying scotch and cigars. Consider yourself busted O-Man.

I just got a kindle and I LOVE it - no more lugging around books on the subway! Also, there are TONS of free kindle books on amazon...probably all the ones free on other websites, but the kindle allows you to take them anywhere! |

I have an excell sheet to track daily expenses, and another to track monthly budget goals/actual (includes $ going to taxes, retirement, other savings, rent, utilities, necessary expenses, and random spending). Yayyy I'm a nerd. I don't budget weekly since my weeks vary so drastically, but by breaking down my monthly... $7 subway, $3.50 gas (I commute for an hour once a month), $60ish groceries, $10 extraneous food (mmm snacks), $5 home/hygeine, $70 fun things (drinks, clothes, prezzies for myself and others...this varies a whole lot from week to week and usually ends up in 1 shopping spree every month or two) ETA: $5-8 laundry I track every itty bitty cent, and the only way I can do that is my never ever using cash ('cept laundry) |

As a single gal in my early twenties with no one to watch out for but myself I seem to live on it just fine, and manage to put 25% into savings (including retirement). I mean, I don't live a glamorous life, but I pay for rent, utilities, food, transpo, and the gym...and have plently left over for new clothes, presents for myself (and I guess other people with the holidays coming up ), and nights out. According to the internet gods my cost of living is pretty comparable to baltimore suburbs. ETA: I have 2 roommates, which helps a ton. And you may want more than 40k...but its A LOT more than a lot of recent grads make, and you have to consider that another job offer may not come along for a while. |

I LOVE luna bars, clif bars, balance bars...the works. I never had a problem fitting them in with my calorie count, but they are so super processed and sugary that they made me feel guilty. I've switched to larabars, which are 100% natural with no artificial sugar. They're based with dates, so they're still plenty sweet and satisfy a sugar craving, but most have about 3-5 ingredients of all good for you stuff! They're a little more pricey, but you should check them out. |

ok me: For my mom: VS flannel PJs - maybe not the the most creative/personal/memorable gift, but good golly she needs some fun, comfy, not holey pjs to wear this winter...and she loves when I buy her clothes. And probably some packets of vegetable seeds that are on the pricier side - she loves gardening but isn't about to spring $5 on 5 seeds of that unique squash she wants to try growing. I also want to get her a cool new jigsaw puzzle, but I really can't spend all my holiday money on her :) Why are moms so easy? For my dad: A cd? I dunno...he usually buys me things, and I give him hugs. For my brother: A swift kick in the butt. Actually, maybe some rock climbing gear. |

The worst time I ever had at security was actually on a domestic flight, but my boarding pass indicated I was military. Holy heck I thought I would NEVER get through. They took every little thing out of my carry-on, smelled my shampoo, inspected my shoes like they were about to detonate, and inspected me from head to toe with a little bit of a back-of-the-hand pat down. Luckily I had all the time in the world and I had a good laugh about it after the fact, but jeepers, you'd think they have better things to do. |

A good friend of mine got compartment syndrome in college. As a D1 rower it was a horrific diagnosis. She had surgery one summer and was good to row in the fall, and good to run in the spring. I haven't talked to her lately but she's basically good as new now (3 years later). Yes, it took some time to recover, it was painful, it was hard...but it was worth it. |

what the... I mean, I can see how it improves security, but that is really not okay. And getting a "pat down" like that is public would we uncomfortable, but behind a closed door would be worse...maybe they could bring people behind a translucent wall so there's some privacy but you don't feel like you're alone with the security official? I for one would rather walk through the machine. |

My prayers go out to those serving overseas, armed forces families, and those who have lost loved ones. That, and I hafta share... When I was getting on the T this morning there was a little old dude with a vet hat waiting on the platform with me. I walked up to him and shook his hand and said "thank you sir." Without a moment's hesitation he said "thank you soldier." He then explained that's he's a regular commuter too and had seen me with my gear on my way to drill a few weeks ago. He remembered, and that made my insides smile :) |
