Since my husband and I are planning to start trying for a baby in June, I was hoping to lose weight prior to that so that I'm not over 200 pounds at my baby shower. I weighed in at 183.4 this morning (3.4 lbs more than I weighed a few days before Christmas :/ ) and could swear I could hear the scales taunting "Moo! Get off of me!" I've been out of my exercise routine for the past two weeks and I started back today by doing some Wii Fit and I'm planning to start back at the gym tonight with my hubby. At this point, I have little to no energy, constant headaches, I avoid cameras any way I can, and I've been wearing the "granny" bathing suits to water aerobics to hide my belly and thighs and nearly run to wrap up in my oversized towel when I get out. It's driving my husband crazy that I'm down on myself all the time, constantly compare myself to other women, and fear that he'll cheat on me because of my looks and low self-esteem. Anyway, no more feeling sorry for myself. I'm taking control today! Goal #1: Lose a minimum of 38.4 pounds by the end of June (which is also when I'm going to a beach wedding with my size 6 cousin), and weighing in at 145 pounds, the upper end of my healthy weight range. #2: Lower my BMI to below 25 (It's 31.5 now) #3: Gradually work myself up to have the endurance/stamina to run a 5K. #4: Learn to love myself. #5: Stop my binge/emotional eating
...and other miscellaneous, unrelated goals....
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Unfortunately, I've had Sonic sundaes twice this week. I really like the chocolate Carb Smart icecream (I think it's made by Breyer's) with a spoonful of peanut butter. |

I feel ya girl! I've been trying to lose weight my entire life, it seems, and I still haven't found the support I need. My friends have always been thinner than me so they don't quite understand what I'm dealing with. (I'm 5'4", 180 lbs., and my goal is 135, by the way.) My younger brother is always on a diet and is rail thin so he makes mean comments when he watches me eat. My parents STILL try to screw with my diet by offering me tons of junk food (holidays are the WORST), and my husband, God bless him, loves to go out to eat. We've had Sonic icecream twice this week! Try not to get discouraged! Most of the time, I just try to ignore them. |

GREAT TOPIC! Just read Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner and somehow this reminds me of it. I have killer curves, a perky, toned butt and rack, strong calves, nice eyes and a great smile. I'm also learning to love my arms.

I have gradually started replacing some of the unhealthier versions of some foods with healthier versions, and my weekly grocery bill has gone up maybe $10. For one thing, I never buy red meat. If I do get meat, I buy a 3-pound bag of frozen chicken breasts for around $5-6 and it usually gives me and my husband 6 meals, if we don't overdo it. I buy frozen fruits and veggies where I can, because it lasts much longer than fresh and is MUCH cheaper. Usually, the only fresh fruits I buy each week are bananas and apples. I completely stopped buying cereal. You can get a large container of plain oatmeal for a couple of bucks and then you can add whatever you want to it. I started a small box garden in my backyard. My husband put together two 4'X4' bottomless boxes using 1"X8" boards. We filled the boxes with peat moss, then potting soil, and planted about 8 broccoli plants, romaine lettuce, and strawberries, and then used a hanging basket to plant cherry tomatoes. We're very lucky, too, because my grandmother raises chickens and is constantly giving us eggs, homemade sourdough bread, tomatoes, corn, peppers, onions and green beans. We also have a sort of communal garden at a friends house and we all pitched in on upkeep and starting the seedlings, which saves tons of money. I also check the local sale bills for deals. Just be creative! Hope this helps. |

When I weighed 150, I wore 10's and 12's. I think it just depends on your body type and how much in shape a person is. |

I'm not saying I want to lose all 33 pounds within the next month or two. I'd like to lose at least 10, though, but I've been getting so stressed about upcoming events that I keep binge eating. Just need to know ways/activities to chill me out. Thanks for your replies. |

My vote for perfect body goes to Jessica Biel. She's got a very toned and athletic body, but she's curvy at the same time. http://images.teamsugar.com/files/usr/0/3362/ JessicaBiel_0.jpg

Megan 5'4"- Currently 168 pounds (down 22 pounds from my peak at 190!) Initial goal was to reach 135 by September 27, 2008 (my wedding) 22 years old Madisonville, Ky. I want to lose weight so that I won't be so tired all the time, I will gain a more positive self-image and look hot in pictures again. Knowing that I'm getting married in September has really helped me stay motivated (well, sorta). |

I'm getting married September 27 of this year. I started at 190 with a goal of 135 by that date. I'm down 22 pounds right now at 168. According to the weekly goals I set I should be between 153 and 157 by now but I've found it hard to stick to my diet lately. Junk food is so much cheaper. |

I've had a hard time with biting my nails too. I started crocheting, playing videogames, doing yard work and cleaning the bathtub. When my hands are dirty, I'm not even TEMPTED to bite my nails. |

Definitely don't drink diet drinks. They've got a ton of sodium in them and will only make you retain water. Regular soft drinks are actually better for you because they fill you up more than diet drinks do. Bottled juice has way too much sugar. I used to drink a ton of Dr. Pepper. I had to just gradually wean myself off of it. I stopped buying it at the grocery store and I pack around my own thermos to fill with water or whatever. I got tired of the Crystal light really quickly, even though the lemonade is pretty good. You could try unsweetened iced tea or Kool-aid sugar free singles to add to your water. When you go to a restaurant order water with extra lemons and you can mix your own lemonade with sweet-n-low or splenda packets. It's cheaper than pop, too. Hope this helps. |

Yep, sounds like you're overdoing it. I wish I had that much energy, though. I can give you one simple tip when it comes to your diet. If you find that you are going to have a busy week ahead of you, set aside about half an hour a week to cook all of your meals for the week. For example, you can grill several boneless chicken breasts and use them to mix up all kinds of meals. Pasta doesn't take too long to prepare so you could heat up the chicken in the microwave for a few minutes and cook parmesian chicken. You can prepare quick salads. Also, measure out the right portions of vegetables and freeze them in separate baggies. If you don't like to cook, start buying frozen meals that are already prepared with the right portions, such as Lean Cuisine. If you find yourself reaching for the icecream, you should probably try a low calorie icecream such as Breyers's Pure Fruit Pomegranate Blends Popsicles (40 calories each), Klondike Slim-a-Bear (100 calories each, or Edy's/Dreyer's Slow-churned peach yogurt blend icecream (100 calories per serving). As far as exercise goes, if you don't have time to go to the gym, work it into your day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park in the back of the parking lot away from the entrance, etc. Hope this helps. |

Honey, you are BEAUTIFUL! You should never allow yourself to be talked to or about which such disrespect. You should definitely confront him about this. Never let ANYONE make you feel like you aren't good enough. I've gained 30 pounds since I met my fiance' but he still tells me every day how beautiful I am and how lucky he is to have me. That's what you need. If YOU feel like your weight is unhealthy then it is up to you to change it. Don't try to change yourself to make someone else happy. |

MMM..Breakfast! My favorite meal of the day! 1) I get plain instant oatmeal and add sliced banana/tsp peanut butter (about 350 calories), or cinnamon/brown sugar (about 200 cals). It keeps me full for a while and can be made in a jiffy! 2) Also, you could make breakfast wraps. They normally take about 5-10 minutes. Just heat up the tortilla till warm in a skillet and I like to add one egg, 2 slices of turkey bacon, cheese and mustard. It's normally about 350 calories for this, depending on how much cheese you use, and it's filling. 3) Smoothies!!! You can't really go wrong with this one. Just blend frozen fruit with juice and you're ready to go. 4) Whole-grain bagels with fat-free cream cheese. 5) fresh fruit salad (you can make this one ahead and add lemon juice or oj to keep the fruit from turning) Hope this helps! |
