im 17. in recovery from an ED. used to have the same stats as you: 5'2 127. healthy eating is not a diet, its a lifestyle. there is no other way to put it. make healthy eating around 1800-2000 calories a day (more if you're super active), nutritious foods, no foods are forbidden. no, the weight isn't gonna melt off, but you'll eventually lose the weight. again, magic results are ephemeral. with a healthy diet for life, expect physical results in maybe 4 months, maybe more |

eat more than 1500. you'll still lose weight. 1500 isn't enough unless you are one of those infamous nerds made fun of in movies that literally sit on their rear ends and study all day. |

The adults aren't being rude, they're concerned. Not only are they concerned, but they're probably tired of seeing posts that detail the lifestyles of young girls with disordered eating. im recovering from an mulitple EDs and i find it quite easy to eat over 1200 when eating healthy. and i have lost weight from eating more. LOST. right now im working my way up to 1800 calories. you're eating WAY to little not just in general, but especially for someone who does that amount of exericise (which is an absurd amount btw) yes, im criticizing you, and no, im not an adult, im a 17 year old girl |

| Young Calorie Counters | V8 Fusion, sugar? | Oct 13 2009 02:54 (UTC) |

i recovering from an ED too. and i drink v8 every morning. when i first started getting treatment i was on gatorade for my electrolyte imbalance. V8 is a great way to go about it. its good for you. its not processed sugar, its natural, almost identical to the sugar in you bananas and apples. i know its hard to get past that number of sugar grams, but remember, its just a number, and a little sugar is necessary for the body to function right. |

| Young Calorie Counters | How I can stop binge eating? | Oct 13 2009 02:41 (UTC) |

i didnt bother reading the above replies so i apologize if i repeat something. anyways, im a recovering bulimic and anorexic. and if there's one thing i've learned a lot about, its about stopping binge eating. im resisting the urge right now. part of it is willpower, but only to a small extent. you're body is sensing that its hungry. it probably hasn't recieved adaquate nutrition throughout the day, causing you to be even more hungry and vulnerable later on. the only surefire way to eliminate binging is to eat enough, eat healthy, eat filling foods, eat no more than 4 hours between meals, and when a sweet treat is calling your name just eat one of the damn things and be done. |

1. I say this to everyone. toned/toning doesn't exist. as a verb its a joke. you can't "tone" or "scultp" 2. 1400 is what you should be eating should you ever be in a coma. To find out how many calories to consume, subtract 500 cal from what you burn each day. To do that you need to find a TEEN calorie calculator. For activity I'd say you're very active 3. protein is sooo important. aim for a 40/40/20 ratio 4.you're never going to fully attain your goals without weight lifting. it builds/maintains muscle. on a caloric deficit it is near impossible to gain more that 1-2 pounds of muscle. you WILL NOT get bulked out. even if you were on a bulking diet you would not gain mass muscle. cardio helps a smidge when it comes to cutting fat, but not significantly. ppl here will prob disagree with me on this, saying they lost weight with cardio blah blah blah. well, they lost a sh*tload of muscle, not fat.
so, in all, at every meal, have a portion of carbs, a portion protein, and veggies in at least two of those meal. if you do this, and eat human sized portions, you don't need to count calories. by taking the right portions of carbs and proteins at every meal, you will be building a healthy eating foundation for a lifetime. |

If all that unhealthy crap was taken away there would be some dogooder out there who will file a lawsuit saying that their freedom to choose to eat what they want is being taken away.
Speaking of freedom of choice, it is every person's own choice to choose what they want to put in their body. Most people choose to eat the bad crap. And they have every right to, its their choice. Its up to every invidividual themselves to make the right food choices. Cant make the choice if its being taken away from them.
also, a cookie every now and then isn't bad. it may be filled with fat and sugar, but a little treat is deserved every now and then |

no more than 20 minutes is necessary. a clean diet is key. You can do cardio and lifting for a year and still look the same if your diet sucks. Post your exercise routine and diet and we can go from there |

| Fitness | A Couple Questions... | Nov 10 2008 02:27 (UTC) |

1.) Erase the word tone from your vocabulary. Forever. It does not exist. Your abs and glutes will get tighter through overall fat loss which is acheived through weight training and a clean diet. 2.) You are not gonna get very great results using just the machines. Throw the ad/abduction machines out the window. The lat pulldown, leg sled, leg curl, and leg extensions are the only machine exercises I would keep in the routine. Other than those, you need to toughen up and make your way to the free weights. Why? Because when you use the machines you are only targeting ONE MUSCLE. ONE. On the other hand, when using the free weights you are using multiple muscles -the muscles you target and the muscle the exercise employs to stabalize the body to perform the exercise. Take squats for example. When you think of the muscles you are using when doing a squat you think "hammy, quads, legs etc". But you are also using your abs and back to stabalize your body under the weight of the barbell. Catch my drift? Your boobs are fine. Go boobs to the wall when you're lifting. Good luck |

I feel l;ike this is the only thing I ever say. Cardio will help you lose muscle. Not fat. Weight training is going to help you lose fat. Without weight training you are stuck in the body you got. See the fitness forums asap and start asking questions. The people in the forum are very helpful

| Young Calorie Counters | How can I get a flat stomach? | Nov 08 2008 22:21 (UTC) |

|
The only way you are going to acheive a flat stomach is complete fat loss which is acheived through weight training. Not crunches, not yoga, not freakin pilates. Weight lifting. Cardio aint gonna cut it either. I bet you will not get a flat stomach if all you do is pilates and yoga. Take a gander at the fitness forum or bodybuilding.com and they will tell you yoga and pilates is a bunch of crap for losing fat. |

As far as exercise goes, skip the cruches. They aren't going to do anything. HIIT and a weight training program is what's gonna get you where you wanna be |
