So true. Yesterday I had to go to the kitchen and get a spoonful. My son eats pb&j almost every day. One of my favorite snacks is to eat pb & apple slices, which my husband thinks is WEIRD. |

I can't believe it! I thought my son was the only one to eat pickles on the side with just about anything! LOL |

Original Post by agelikiaddiction: Dear ageliki...Did you ever read the label of a jar of peanut butter? All this thinking about pb has caused me have a desire to go get a spoonful, so I'll share w/you what is in this jar. It shows the following ingredients: Roasted peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt. The nutrition data shows low saturated fat (3.5 g per 2 Tbsp) and NO cholesterol (as in 0 g per 2 Tbsp). Plus the pb has some fiber (2 g per 2 Tbsp). I don't see any resemblance to butter there at all. -Mrs. K PS: I made a similar mistake about turkey burgers recently. I assumed since it was turkey it was immensely healthier because it is low sat fat but they have just as much cholesterol as regular beef burgers. I made the mistake because I didn't read the labels carefully in the store. I just grabbed up the turkey because the label said 93% LEAN and I "KNEW" that turkey is better for you than beef, especially the 80/20 kind. Moral of the story...it's never too late to learn. |

Original Post by cinderella1210: You must be starving. Personally, I have to eat about 1500 calories a day to lose weight. (My husband thinks I'm not eating enough even then.) If I'm not trying to lose weight, I aim for 1800-2000. Best regards, Mrs. K |

Original Post by jevw: That is so true! Thin may be in but if you are a healthy weight/size, some people act like there is something wrong w/you. I think it must be some kind of deep seeded psychological problem on the part of those who want to stick their heads in the sand and not take care of themselves. Mrs. K Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Thought for the Day: I think it would be difficult to honor God with an unhealthy body. |

I was at the higher end of my healthy weight range at my baby's 2nd birthday. I felt fine and was not going to lose any more weight. However, my husband found out that his cholesterol was starting to get high, so I made some changes in the way that we eat and I started losing a few pounds. I increased my exercise a little and I'm now about the same weight I was in high school. I was very pleased w/that but one day my husband said that he noticed I was losing weight and that he thought I shouldn't lose any more weight. He said he didn't want me to get too skinny. I'm about the same size I was when I met him. Plus his cholesterol is down w/o medication. I don't think people intend to be harsh/mean when they make comments about weight. Then again they could be just really jealous because you are succeeding at becoming healthier and therefore losing unwanted pounds. Mrs. K Keep on keepin on. |

Seeing your GI doc is the best thing you can do. He will help you sort out your problem, whether it's a dietary issue or something else. Hope you're feeling back to normal soon! Having digestive trouble is no fun. Mrs. K |

| I love peanut butter because it has enough calories and fat that you can eat it and feel full. My 2 y/o son loves it, so we eat peanut butter sandwiches together for lunch a lot. You can make pb & banana (one of baby's favs) or pb & jelly. Don't be afraid of calories. Calories are your friends. If we don't eat enough calories we won't have enough energy. Those little cups are good because they are premeasured and makes it difficult for you to overeat especially if you're at work and only have one. Personally a pb sandwich w/some fruit on the side and a glass of milk is a good lunch for me. | |||

Original Post by cellulitedelight: Kind of off topic, but how do you cook w/o carrots? A lot of recipes start w/mirepoix which is carrots, celery & onion. PLUS If it weren't for corn and carrots, my big boy (6 y/o) wouldn't eat veggies either! Keeping w/the banana theme, he isn't as crazy about bananas as his little brother but he is ape about apples! |

Original Post by anthony007: The current recommendation is 6-10 servings of fruits and vegetables, so if you eat 3 of each for example, that's probably 9 servings of fruit. I'd probably exchange a few of those fruits for vegetables personally. HOWEVER, I never heard of anyone who had poor nutrition from eating too much fruit. Do a nutritional analysis of everything you eat and make sure you're getting all the A-Zs. My 2 y/o boy is a major fruit eater. He won't eat any veggies for me but he could eat fruit all day! |

WOW...Just when you think you've heard it all...If bananas were really that fattening, my 2 y/o son would be a little tub of lard. I have to hide them because he loves them so much! I think he would eat one for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I'd let him, which is one of the reasons we call him a little monkey. Good thing they sell bananas at Costco! A 4 lb bag of bananas just doesn't last very long here. BTW...he's about in the 50th percentile for weight and height. Just right. I only want him to have a variety of foods so I don't let him eat bananas all the time, but sometimes he has two in one day because he runs into the kitchen yelling NANA and how can you say no to that?
