It is important to remember that Medifast is a diet for the extremely obese and should be seen as a last resort. It is a very low calorie diet that has saved the life of some (i.e. the extremely obese) but it will put your body though a gruelling process and so should not be considered lightly. Definitely talk to you doctor about it. You can read more at  Medifast Weight Loss Guide.

I'm not sure I approve of this kind of smack you down approach. I'm a great believer in loving who you are and treating yourself well (i.e. healthy eating and exercise) because you have a sense of self worth. This ways to be skinny article is closer to my opinion. But this book is the complete opposite it just wants to take people down and it's this kind of attitude causes eating disorders.
Foods Love fish for the Omega-3, but scared of the mercury... Jul 20 2007

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, as I've been reading Dr. Sears The Anti-inflammatory Zone. He talks about how the Japanese eat the largest amounts of fish in the world but pay for it with the highest level of toxic substances in their bodies. But I've not been able to find any research on the impact of fish consumption of fish on the Japanese population. For example do they have higher rates of miscarriages or babies born with neurological defects? Do they experience higher incidences of brain diseases, mental illness etc? Also do they receive the benefits? For example, are there lower incidents of heart disease? I'd be very interested if anyone had answers to these questions. Dr Sears recommends restricting your intake of fish and taking a fish oil supplement approved by the IFOS (see: IFOS approved omega-3 fish oils).

Coconut oil is quite high in saturated fat. It is true that is better to receive this kind of fat from coconut rather then from meat, but is it a good idea to risk raising your cholesterol in this way?

Hi,

If you take a molecularly distilled omega-3 suppliment then you won't have any issue with smell or after taste. There are quite a few brands now that use this process and it also ensures there is no mecury or other heavy metals. I have tried both LifeExtension Super Omega-3 and Ascenta NutraSea Hp as I found them to be the best value for money. You can find a full list of brands here: http://www.metabolismadvice.com/omega_3_fish_ oil/

You should be careful of buy cheap brand omega-3 products, pretty much all of them have high levels of mercury, PCBs and other contaminants as our oceans just aren't very clean any more. You can find a big list of oils that have been tests and approved by the International Fish Oil Standards program here: http://www.metabolismadvice.com/omega_3_fish_ oil/
Foods So...is it better to eat refined, high glycemic index foods before a work-out? Apr 14 2007

I'm an avid fan of low GI eating but if I had one complaint it is that occassionally I do feel a little weak and lacking in energy even thought I've eatten plenty of low GI foods. In this times a sugar boost does the trick and IMHO exercising seems like a time when this may be necessary.

Good chart of glycemic indexes here.

Is it really a good idea to be eatting such a small amount of calories? Most people need 1800 to stay alive and less than that will cause you metabolism to slow. But I would definately up the protein more beef, tuna steak etc are the way to go.

They say that body fat is quite hard to measure without weighing in water. The calculations/electronic measures give an estimate but not an exact figure.

Lately I've been trying to following a fat burning exercise program. I've lost 4kgs so far and I'm hoping it's fat.

I think the atkins diet has a lot to offer but the down side is all the headaches, bad breath and wind. I think the GI diet is much more sustainable in the long term. But I think that other diets are also good like the south beach diet or the zone diet.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
