I am reading your post and totallly understand.  I went from 230 to 136 and now am up to 160.  It happens.  Life and challenges happen.  We both have another challenge to face and the best thing is that we have this website and each other to talk to.  Plus, life wouldn't be fun without some challenge to overcome and conquer.  Get back on the wagon...I am there myself.

I would have to say after my initial loss of 85 pounds over six years ago the thing I was most impressed with was doing 8 pull-ups in a row and running a 11:15 mile and a half.  Now that I have put on 25 pounds and dislocating my shoulder I find it a lot more difficult...but I would like to be able to do pull-ups again.

Weight Loss Running Or Walking for weight loss? Nov 18 2010

krazyu,

I did a lot of running (20-30) miles per week at 6.0 mph or better for a few years and found that it did indeed burn the calories.  I enjoyed it at times and hated it other times.  I also did a lot of weights to build lean muscle and that burned the fat/calories all day long because I built up a good amount of muscle.

Since I have changed my life-style (college student) I find myself not as into running as before.  I recently have been trying to walk 3.5-4.0 mph at a 3.5 to 4.0 incline for an hour and find that it does the trick, burns about 500 calories for me at my weight, I sweat, and I feel good after I do it.

Walking and jogging together is an excellent way to keep your body guessing and burning calories.  I recently have paid more attention to my hear-rate in relation to how hard I am working.  If you are working hard you will burn more calories.

yesicanyesiwill,

I don't think your idea is totally flawed.  A lot of it depends on your life-style and family situation around Thanksgiving.

I am going to be away for the event so I am most likely going to take a long walk on the morning of, eat oatmeal for breakfast, drink a good amount of water, help prepare dinner and use portion control.  The only thing I think I will make an exception for is a peice of pie.

Good luck with your plan and I hope you have a good Thanksgiving.

abramlett,

Thanks for taking your daughter to a therapist.  My parents didn't do anything with me...just told me to stop.  I have had to deal with an eating disorder for about 10 years now.  I am finally able to be healthier with the help of a wonderful boyfriend and self-help therapy (no insurance...too expensive!).  It is a long road and I wish my Mother would have given me the help you are giving your daughter.
