Dee,

Did you look in the section called Groups on this site.  There is a teen section that may help you.  Plus you do need to find a happy thought.  I looked at what you wrote and it broke my heart.  You need to sit down and write what makes you happy.  I really don't see that being your boyfriend but if he is then tell him you want to get healthier.  Ask him to help you do that.

I see you put your weight in stones where are you from?  My best friend is from the UK.  I think you need to figure out how to enjoy the world around you.  Why are you afraid of going outdoors?  Did something happen to you?  These are important questions.  If you have more than one disorder you may need to consult a specialist to help you with that.  Have you thought about the fact that you might be agoraphobic?

I agree with the advice so far do not think of this as a diet but a new healthy journey in your life.  Veggies and fruit and super foods.  Give it a try luv and see how things go.

I have fibro and know what you feel.  Though I do have days where the pain is less I still struggle every night.  I struggle to sleep.  As for the loosing pain as I loose weight I have yet to start that. I still have a lot to loose.  I hope to be able and get out and walk some as soon as this blasted snow goes away.  I am so anxious to see the green grass again.  Every little thing helps.  I am now taking extra trips up and down my stairs.  I can't carry anything yet but I hope to soon enough.

We need to keep together as this is the disease that no one will recognize.  It won''t kill you but it will debilitate.  We have to just do a little more each day.  Whatever it is it is good.

why does everyone hate fruit cake? i love it! :P

The people who hate fruit cake has never had one made proper.  I make mine the beginning of November and then it gets a drink once a week.  I prefer it have an apricot brandy but some prefer a dark rum.  Whichever way it is ready a few weeks before the holidays.   I made it this year and gave my family the option of fruitcake or home-made apple butter at our family party.  I did not bring any fruitcake home.  I gave it all away.  I know at times I wish I had a slice but I am better off now that I don't

I agree with everyone, I am on 1200 calories due to illness that has me with disabilities and I am only 5ft 3.  I do chair dancing which in itself is hard for me.  Since you are more active and if your height says more calories you need to follow the guidelines.  The healthy way of eating is not a diet but a lifestyle change.  It is an education in eating right.  I would share with the class these benefits as well, if you are allowed to that is.  Children today eat so unhealthy.  My grand-daughter is an exception if she had her way she would only have her milk and fruit.  Good luck and Congrats on the pending wedding.

I know it hurts when people you see every day won't even try to understand, or be supportive.  I came up with a different approach.  First for you, let them know that the foods that are there are not healthy for you due to allergies.  My trick is I am not on a diet, I am on a journey to find the me inside.  This will throw them off and the ones who are interested will ask what you mean.  Just say you are eating healthy.  Let it go.  You are not on a diet you are on a health quest!  Good luck it sound like you are doing alright.  If you follow the guidelines here and know your calories for your lifestyle you will do great.

Congratulations.  you are doing fantastic.  I am glad to see someone else using the same goal markers.!  I have managed to loose 1 stone.  I still have to loose 4 stones.  My best friend is from England and we chat nearly every day.  Thank God for computer technology. We wrote letters in the beginning.  I even have a few of them stored in my box of memories.  I would like to be down by 2 more by summer but we will see.

Good luck with your progress I am here cheering for you! Laughing

I agree with everyone here.  I do it.  I don't try to one-up anyone but I can see where the story if funny or sad would make you think of another one similar.  As a social network of friends, family, co-workers, and networkers we all want to fit into each others lives even if it is in a small way.  That is looking for the common ground.  I do comment on the situation as it is the important first information.  If there is not similar feedback then where does the conversation go?

Betty1302,

The fact that you posted the question means you are looking for help.  Please seek professional assistance, and stay with us here at CC.  We are all suffering from a food disorder or we would not be here.  Even if it is only 15lbs overweight, which I am not, it brings people together to find the answers.  We are obsessed with food in one way or other.

A small suggestion.  Become a homemade soup aficionado, and make it healthy, low sodium and delicious.  Learn herbs.  It is a healthy project that might change your food focus.  Soup is such a comfort food, and if done right can outshine a number of fattening foods.  There are so many other things that would be good to try to but start small.  Think soup!

But the most important thing you can do is "Love You".  If you do it is the start in the right direction.  Please post often.  You are worth it.  And we are all here for you.

Barb,

Yes, by all means.  I would love to add you to my friends list.  Newton Falls is a little bit bigger, we are a town.  I think somewhere around 2 thousand but not sure.  It fluctuate so much.  I have had the fibromyalgia for 10 years or more the doctors won't really pinpoint it.  I am babysitting my grand-daughter today so I have to keep this short.  She is napping at the moment.  She is a 19 month old bundle of energy and joy.  I have her 2 days a week and sometimes on the weekend depending on my kids schedule.  Well I gotta run and do a few thinkg before she wakes up.  Later.

Barb,

A few medical problems beginning with fibromyalgia.  No n=major surgeries though, sorry to hear you had so much pain.  I have watched my husband loose just by counting calories.  I knew I could not do just that but when I found CC I just fell into it.  I like seeing what I am putting in me.  Plus I want to reduce my sodium intake.  I would love to get off blood pressure medicine.  I live 1 hour from Akron and 1/2 hour from Youngstown.  The town I live in is Newton Falls.  It is nice to have a friend here to chat with.

Hi Barb,

I am another 57 year old Ohioan.  I never tried WW, came close a couple of times but just never committed to it.  I have had several health problems I have blamed them for my being over weight.  I found this site and loved that it broke everything out of me.  It gave me a better understanding of what I eat and I am cooking better for me and my husband now.  I started January 3, 2011 and have lost 12 lbs. to date.  I read as much as I can here and it has become my new obsession.  I guess you can still say it is a food obsession but now I am controlling it, not it controlling me.  Would love to know what part of ohio yuo are from.

I got some information last night before leaving but these little places do not list nutrition facts even as a small chain.  So went crazy looking for one that had similar recipes.  I could not believe one of my faves, Eggplant Parmesan was 1000 calories not to mention fats, and other bad stuff....I only eat fish.  My doctor said I had to add a protein of some sort to my vegetarian diet and I added fish instead of beans, only sort of like them but could not eat them every other day..  This site has been the best place I have every been to help me diet.

I was considering bariatric surgery but my kids talked me out of it.  I am glad I found this place as a bit of a geek I like seeing the food broken down into elements.  I feel that is one of my biggest motivators.  Here since the first of the year and I see it as being a life adventure.  As glad to have a way of seeing my goal working toward me instead of away.

Thank you everyone.  I have the frozen veggie now and some fresh.  I have been more diligent about cooking fresh and frozen.  I am leaving the canned to my hubby,he doesn't have as much to loose.  This site looks to be the life saving place I need to be.  I am on the computer all day anyway so this works for me.

I appreciate all the encouragement.

That is very good and motivating.  I just took full body pictures front and side view.  I am not happy with how I look but I have been on CC for one week and can see the progress on the scales.  I am feeling better to.  I feel as though for the first time in a very long time I have taken the power back from food.  I can see what it has done to me and want to change it.  I am more motivated than I have ever been.

Yes by all means, they list it use it.  I know it seems a little redundant but when you look at it at the end of the day you feel like you accomplish something.  If your sodium is high it could cause water retention.  That is my concern as well.  Congratulations on your loss.   We all need to stick together.  I to have Fibromyalgia. I do chair dancing.  Just put some music on and move, arms, legs, tap toes and heals.  Move your head back and forth or up and down.  Who is going to see.  It counts as mild exercise.  I started at 5 minutes and am up to 15, not a lot but it will go.

First I would like to say Congratulations and look forward to talking to you on my journey.  I began on 1/3/11.  I have been logging everything, food activities and vitamins.  I am sure you are on the right path as I hope I am.

I have fibromyalgia, arthritis and degenerative disk disease.  I don't use this as an excuse I have been overweight for 25 years, since my mother died tragically.  I put the weight on and never found anything to really help me take it off.  So far I am doing well.  The first week I lost 6 pounds.  I have been doing exercise that works for my condition and the frigid weather here.  I lost 6lbs. I don't expect this each week but I do have a short term goal.

We are taking a cruise to celebrate our 40th anniversary.  I would like to loose 20 lbs. More would be nice but I will settle for that.  The cruise is in 10 weeks so I should be able to reach that goal.

I love knowing the whole picture of what I eat.  I think that is helping me the most so far.

Thank you for the encouraging letter.
