What worked for me was going on a completely clean diet and painstakingly sticking to it. There is a dairy queen and bruesters that I pass every day. After a while I was at my moms and she gave me a brownie that was in the fridge. I actually had to spit it out. Not only lost the sweet tooth, but lost any desire for said items as well.

The mirror, old clothes, and old pictures. Never think about how far you have to go, just keep looking at how far you've come, and that should be pretty motivating to keep going.

Worry about the fitness regimen. The numbers will take care of themselves. Personally, seeing results in the mirror as far as getting toned and lean is all the motivation I need to keep going, through the temptation, unsupportive friends, and soreness.

Everything. Went from starting to get a little sloppy, wake up call was being suddenly single, and a total whole body transformation into being fit and lean.

For me, the results are all the motivation to go to the next level. Once a goal is attained, knowing that you just conquered one, set a new one, and make constant improvement a series a goals.

Military did it for me, but if that option is off the table, instead of thinking about it, just do it. It will suck at the beginning, then you'll get used to it. You'll feel a lot better starting your day that way and then will be something you look forward to and will become routine. Just have to fight the urge for the snooze button, get up, and go. It's that simple.

Everyone has self image issues. If it helps, I've always been really thin, graduated high school at 5'9" and only weighed 130 pounds, and I'm a guy. I'm up to 165 of solid lean muscle, and worked really hard to get and maintain it. I get a ton of compliments, not being shallow, but do on my build now, and looking in the mirror at the gym the other day, arms were pretty big. I was able to get to 15" biceps and everywhere else is pretty toned. When I look down at myself, still see the skinny 130 pound me. Just have to control that your image isn't necessarily reality and have to know your perfect your way you are, not always how you see yourself.
