Canesten Duo is a flucanozole capsule to take and then also the clotrimazole cream to apply. Just thought it might be useful to have the generic drug name as well as the trade name in case it's called something different in Spain. Generally, your best bet would be to talk to a pharmacist out there and they will be able to help I'm sure :) |

Your maths is right, brightmoments! Time = Distance/Speed = 10miles / 17 miles per hour = 0.58 hours = 35 minutes So use your activity log to record 35 minutes of cycling at that pace. The burn might be slightly different though, as it will depend on what you weigh :) |

Yoga has been fantastic for me. If it's ok with your medical team, maybe you would be allowed to try some light hatha-style stretching? There are plenty of videos on youtube and I've really felt a lot better since I startedd. Just so much more 'in balance' and much calmer. But do check with the doctor or whoever is supervising your recovery first, as you are at a very low weight and even light exercise may be too much for your body to handle. |

Kiwi fruit is fantastic for this problem - it's been my miracle cure! Just one fruit for me before bed and it totally helps! Maybe try that, start with one and maybe increase to a couple if needed? Papaya rumoured to be good too. |

My ED has ruined my whole uni experience and taken away a lot of my 'youth' so to speak - times when I should be going out, having fun and meeting new people have been lost because either my ED wouldn't let me take part in social occasions because they revolved around eating and drinking, or because I felt too fat to go out, or because not eating made me tired, cold and hungry and depressed. However, my ED was sparked in start by the fear of going away from home to college, so there wasn't a lot I could do before I went away in order to recover. What I didn't do is recover 'properly' or get the help I needed from professionals. If I had done, my whole uni experience would have been different. It would have been an experience. Instead, I've just got regrets. Recover as soon as you can, and work with professionals if you can get access to that kind of help. You only have one shot at life. Give it your all and don't waste time... Take care x |

Chemistry student here too! 3rd year! Which would be my finals year except for the fact that I signed up for a 4 years masters course...who's bright idea was that/why didn't anyone stop me! I've studied so hard the last couple of weeks, and my exams start on Tuesday...but as of today my brain has just totally burnt out and I just can't be bothered anymore. Anything but revision! ...I don't know how I'm going to get the energy to do this all again next year... |

Honey, I've been through this and as hard as it is to hear, I think you know what you will be told is that you need to see a doctor. Honestly, it's one of the toughest things to summon up the courage to do but it's really the best way of getting yourself out of this mess before it spirals and gets even worse! Things like this are so addictive - that's why you need to see a professional sooner rather than later and catch it before it's too late! Do the right thing :) Seek help from a medical professional.
Take care x |

| Health & Support | Lactulose and weight gain? | Nov 28 2010 20:09 (UTC) |

Thanks for taking the time to reply, icedgem. Your post confirms what I've read/researched on the matter. Logically, I guess there is no reason for me to have gained weight on the lactulose (I'm really thinking along the lines of water retention rather than fat gains here). I did find some reports of lactulose causing abdominal distension, particularly during the early stages of treatment, which I seem to be experiencing. However, I can see no other reason why my weight would have shot up by 6lbs from 125 to 131 in 4 days. Generally my weight doesn't fluctuate all that much - +/- 1-2lbs max. So that's why it just seems mad to me? Thanks again. If anyone else has anything to add I'd love to hear from you. |

1. Chips/Crisps - can't stand anything salty like that 2. Meat. 3. Butter/Margarine. I just don't get the point of it! 4. Coriander/Cilantro - it's a really strong flavour that I just find really unpleasant 5. Avocado. Texture is foul! |

I'm back too! Time to lose the 10-14lbs I've gained since my exams in May and my very long, very lazy summer at home (where there were far too many tempting foods) Good luck I'm sure we can do this :) |

OK thank you very much for the recommendation. My brother had told me, despite what I told him from what I learnt on this site and from other reading, that you only need to strength train if you want to get big and bulky and my mum agreed with him and I got all confused. I'm off to check out that literature :)
Edit: as an aside, I've lost 2lbs already since starting to do a little more activity again. I guess i was just kidding myself that I wasn't being as lazy as I actually was! |

I've read and considered everyone's replies. Thanks for all the information and advice. I'm definitely focusing on getting more active again! And tikiremy: Some more info about strength training would be good, please. I have no idea where to start with it all...reps and sets and what exercises all seems a little overwhelming and my brother, who studies physical education, says that girls shouldn't do strength training and my mum agrees with him. |

Thanks for taking the time to reply again. My stats are 5'4", weight: 120-121 (Goal is 110-112), age: 20 I'm definitely not eating prepackaged/salty foods. I don't really like them. And I mainly just have fruits as a breakfast and then some at about 3-4pm when I have my mid afternoon munchies really. Other than that I mainly eat vegetables like for lunch and dinner such as soups and salads. On occasion, maybe once every week/couple of weeks I will eat prawns. I don't eat meat but I do eat fish. My main weakness is my love of Diet Pepsi, but I drank it throughout my weight loss so I don't see why that would suddenly make me start to gain weight, and I satisfy my sweet tooth with fruit as I have previously stated. With regards to exercise, I'm rubbish at strength training so I never have done it...I get bored by it easily and I am not very strong so I get really discouraged. Mainly my exercise is cardio by running. However now that I am home and not at Uni I am doing skipping for ~45mins and might start kickboxing again and playing tennis like I used to before I left home. My body fat percentage (crudely measured by BIA on my scales at home) has also gone up by about 2% which implies at least some of the weight gain is fat. I swear, if it wasn't so frustrating and upsetting, I would probably consider it some kind of alchemy that my body can turn fruit and veg into fat with such ease! lol! |

I am including everything i eat in my food log but, even with exercise being more sporadic, I am still running a similar caloric deficit...hence my confusion :-s

I would like to thank everybody for their contributions and help on this thread. I managed to get an appointment with a duty doctor this morning who, as expected, prescribed antibiotics. Although, irritatingly, my skin didn't look anywhere near as bad this morning! Who would have thought being prescribed flucoxacillin could make someone so happy but I'm excited to get my skin back to normal (even if it does mean an upset stomach as a side effect of the medicine). But yes, once again than you all :) |
