I'm of the mind to just curl in a hole and try to digest everything one piece at a time...

Still too shocked by it all to really feel much of anything except like crying.

And you're welcome Rune.

Sammi posted a beautiful status on FB that will help with your faith in humanity.  Maybe someone else can copy it over?

this one?:

"Boston. **** horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fracti...on of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

Even on the West Coast, I have co workers who are kind of shaken, walking around with wide eyes.

I really hope that there are no more devices, and as horrible as it was, that's all that there is...I can't even look at the news, the pictures are so disturbing.

Really glad to hear that everyone who had someone over there is okay.

I need to continue purging stuff.  It's hard, but I resolve to fight my packrat tendencies.  I need more room in my closet.

I need to do that with all my crafts supplies...I don't use 70% of the stuff in my craft room *sigh*

I made pina colada gluten free cupcakes yesterday. Kind of a disappointment :T

UNPOSSIBLE!!

Sadly, true. They're kind of thicker and chewy, more like a muffin than a light fluffy cupcake? The flavor is 'eh', not as sweet as I'd like...but paired with my too-sugary buttercream it works out okay actually.

They taste more coconutty than pineapple, so I'm going to top them with a light dusting of coconut flakes, and pineapple chunks. :]

...also buying some store made cupcakes for those who don't like the taste, because I'm thinking the chewy almond flour is an acquired taste thing.

So where do we wear it during Kama sutra sessions?

I knew there was a reason people left their socks on...

I think if you put the clip on your ankle when biking or running on treadmills, you'll get decent number.

Oh, it's fine on the treadmill. Even on the little elliptical I have at home (which is ridiculous and goofy looking). It's just biking that throws it.

I'll try that though, next time I bike :D

It's not. It's an accelerometer & altimeter combined to calculate movement and it uses proprietary algorithm to calculate calories burned.

Okay, that makes sense.  Thanks!

Which is why it gets confused when I bike!

I know we have a few Fitbit users here. Should I wait for the Fitbit Flex?

I don't know if it will have any additional features, or whether they are just changing the design because people keep losing them. The wrist band seems like it could be just as eay to lose to me, and is possibly not as flexible to carry. I wear mine on my bra, but I know from experience that it is easy to lose if it comes unclipped.

When wearing on my bra I put it in so that the bit is on the inside....

Same. I shove the fitbit onto the cup, with the fitbit itself inside the cup, so there's absolutely no chance of it falling out while I'm running around all day long.

Though this does make for awkward stares when I reach in there to pull it out and check my step count :T

Well, I didn't see that one coming.

A true Shakespearean tragedy.

No one really knows it, but originally, he had Romeo and Juliet dying via ficus. His editor thought poison and a dagger would go over better.

Original Post by runesplendor: I wasn't actually kidding. :(  K, well the last line was teasing.  But I was serious about the other stuff.

I know how out of shape I am.  And I know that currently, if it's too much work, too much time or has even a sniff of inconvenience, I won't do it.  It's easy to say Just Do It but I'm not there yet.  So I'm looking for some tiny ways to sneak it in - the lifting equivalent of parking at the far end of the lot.

Oh, that's different - the thing you want to do right now is to start with body weight exercises and random heavy objects around the house you can get a grip on and lift a reasonable number of times. Small children work well for this.

Something simple like a set of lunges, a set of wall or counter top pushups, and some kind of inverted row and you've covered a lot of what you need. Add in Small Child Deadlift and possibly Small Child Drag (put them on a blanket or towel and drag them across the living room floor) :)

My cats work well for this! They range from 12 to 18 pounds, so I even get some variation in there XD

Mel, I know people say women won't bulk up BUT I DO!!! I maintain on 800 calories, I just have a super slow metabolism, and if I even think about picking up a pink dumbbell, I will get huge, ripped muscles!!!! I am a special, unique snowflake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I thought you were serious, until I read the pink dumbbell part...and I was sitting here with HUGE EYES O_O wondering how the hell someone could only eat 800 calories a day and do all the sport activities you do.
