Foods How can I increase my fibre intake? Feb 06 2008

I eat Fiber One Honey Clusters for breakfast (I think it's good dry too).

For lunch I eat either oatmeal or wheat pasta

for dinner I eat black beans. (and whatever else)

I'm normally at 25-30grams if I eat fruits and veggies too.

good luck!!

ah thanks karefreeman :)

He's the kind of boy that I'd never leave just because a boy noticed me. He's is super sweet, sooo adorable and the funniest person I've ever met.

BUT, I still like that a boy wants me to call him (hehe)
Motivation How often do you weigh in...?? Jan 30 2008

I know most people don't agree with this - but I weigh myself every morning. It motivates me to continue to count my calories.

If my weight has gone down then the excitement of losing weight motivates me to keep it up.

If my weigth has gone up or stayed the same, I'm reminded that I'd better watch what I eat or I will contiue to not lose wieght.

Again, most people don't agree with this, but it's worked for me.

:)
Weight Loss Good news - no access to a gym anymore Jan 29 2008

imk814 - I hear you :). I agree and was taking measurements. I was losing some inches, but not much. Still more now with no gym. I'm certainly not saying that exercising is bad! It made me feel great, in fact. But I was just venting about how strange I thought it was that I did better in my weight loss efforts when I stopped exercising.

cellulitedelight - I think it's the food. I was hungrier when I went to the gym. I was averaging about 1600 calories. Now I eat about 1300-1400 a day.

thanks for the thoughts!!

After dinner, I immediately brush my teeth. That way I don't go for seconds or dessert. It's worked for me. It's like it sends a signal to my brain that I'm done. :)

I keep a container of Quick Oats in my desk drawer. All you need is a bowl, a spoon and hot water to enjoy a healthy lunch.

I LOVE frozen chocolate covered bananas!!!!!! They are just as satisfying to me as a chocolate covered ice cream bar, but with no ice cream :)

It's more calories than a lot of what has been suggested, but at least you're getting nutrition from the banana while getting to eat chocolate. :)
Weight Loss The cost of food... eat healthy cost a lot. It is really hard for me to purchase healthy food... any one else in this situation? Jan 22 2008

I totally agree!! Why is it that I can stuff myself full of McDonald's for under $3.00, but if I choose a healthy lunch, I will be shelling out about $10.00 or more.

But, I know this is a fact, so I try to work around it.
*I pack my lunches. That way, I can control what I'm eating, but also what I'm spending.
*We shop at Costco!!! Costco has this FABULOUS granola cereal that has all kinds of yummy healthy stuff (including pumikin seeds). We always have a box of that around and I eat it for breakfast, lunch and snacks! They also sell ground turkey pretty cheap.
*We eat black beans about 4 nights a week. My boyfriend eats them on tortillas, but I don't want the extra calories, so I put them in a bowl and top them with raw onion, sliced jalapeno and finally a dollop of sour cream (I can afford to since I skip the tortilla). It really is my favorite meal! It's low cal and high fiber.
We mashed them up with a potato masher to give them more of a re-fried beans taste.
*this one is obvious, but clip coupons! It's worth the time. Plus I think it's a relaxing thing to do on Sunday mornings :)

great point, lovelin!! I do think he likes and already trusts me. This is something I will consider. For, now, I will sit back and see what happens. It's only been a month so far. I don't want to do anything prematurely :)

lovelin - thanks for the suggestion. I wish I felt comfortable doing it. I do believe talking to her would be the best thing to do IF I was dealing with a rational/reasonable person. I believe that if I confront (even as nicely as possible) her toxic behavior, I will severly regret it. I believe she can and will go behind my back to make me look bad to the owner if I find myself on her bad side.

sun123 - thanks for your thoughts too! definitely good points. The gossip response is definitely what I plan to do :) I wish I could just tell her how inappropriate she is when she shares personal info about co-workers (for no reason at all), but I am sure it will create all kinds of problems.

I think the idea of just accepting what I can't change is the best thing for now. I'm hoping the owner will eventually see how toxic she is for the small office and will do something about it.

I just can't let her ruin my days!! :)
thanks everyone for your advice and experiences!!!!

It's comforting that you guys have gone through (and survived :) similiar situations. I will continue to do my job and try to ignore the negativity. If it doesn't get better, I'll find a new job.

Thanks for the responses!

my gosh cellulitedelight! :)

I have two bosses. I work for one half the day and the other for the other half of the day. Problem is, they don't want to share me (even though it was thier idea to do so). The one boss takes it out on me when the other takes up too much of my time. The one boss is the owner of the company. the second one ( the miserable one) is the office manager. I feel if the owner wants my time, I should give it. But then she gives me attitude and says I need to learn how to say no to him.
The worst part of all of it is that she surfs the net all day long!!!

arg. I'm so frustrated by it all. I feel like maybe I should move on from this job :(

thanks for letting me vent. it always helps to just get get it out

Hi Sky,

I'm 5'5 too. I'd like to lose more than 10 pounds, but 10 would be a great start :)

I too am worse on the weekends because it's not as structured as the work week (packed and planned meals). But I have a little trick: I allow myself to "cheat" - meaning I can eat whatever I want, but I MAKE SURE it's not a lot and that I cover myself by eating less meals a day. Make sense?
For ex - Sunday I ate crab dip out of a bread bowl. YUMMY!!! It was so packed full of fat and calories that for dinner (and no snacks) I ate very healthy (whole wheat pasta and veggies) and really kept the serving size in check.

This way, I don't go off track or give up entirely. I can eat "bad" foods as long as I counter act them with good foods.

Good luck!!

This is a good one, kory :)

My best change so far is upping my fiber and water intake. It's helped a bit with my weight loss efforts, but more than that, I've stopped having stomach aches everyday. AND I eat less and feel just as full from a little bit of high fiber food than with twice as much food with little or no fiber.

This might sound strange, but I am really enjoying this site. Most people HATE counting calories, but I actaully love it. When I eat something, I can't wait to jump online to log it. Weird :)
Weight Loss dizzyness nausea, faint... Dec 20 2007

pennie - yes, you feel this way because your body does not have enough calories to work properly. You're running on empty.

You have to make an effort to eat more! You might feel nausous  at the thought of food right now, but that will pass (if it doesn't, I would DEF go to the doctor).

How about eating things that are higher in calorie than you're used to? I tend to not eat enough when I'm trying to lose weight too. I don't mean it... so what I've done is keep a container of quick oats at my desk at work. All you need is a little bowl, spoon and hot water to enjoy. It's a great thing to have around because it's filling and very nutritous. I also try to have fruit around, but since they go bad quickly, I also keep nuts at my office. I can just grab a handful and my hunger subsides until I can get something else to eat.

hope this helps. I've fainted before because I wasn't eating enough. not fun.

(don't even get me started on how you need to eat enought to LOSE weight. I am simply addressing the problem that you've posted) :)

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
