I am married to my best friend and a great guy. We have been married for 26 years. We have a daughter and son in college. We have a dog lab/retriever mix named Maggie and three cats. I work outside the home and at home.

I have always struggled with my weight. I went through about 3 1/2 years of being in and out of the hospital having major surgeries, after which I gained an additional 40 lbs., to my already overweight body. I enjoy being outside walking and golfing but I also love cooking, reading and knitting. I have done more knitting, reading and cooking for the last few years aiding the additional weight gain.

This is a journey to lose weight, get healthy and become more active. I am going to train myself not to focus on the large amount of weight I need to lose, but on 10 lbs. at a time and to stay active.
