::giggle::

I sent our leftover halloween candy with daughter to school....  she's been giving away milk duds and whoppers and mounds and reese's mini cups since Wed.

it's one way to get rid of candy....

i do sorta feel guilty for foisting it on those high school kids, but heck, they're young enough... they can burn it off easier than I can

;p

If anyone is interested in a group of people who are doing "radical calorie restriction" as a way of life that promotes better health, check out this post

The link to the article in New York magazine (Oct. 30, 2006) provides a lot more detail (and evidence) than has been shared through discussions on Z in the forums here.
Weight Loss vitamins? Nov 03 2006

they say it's best to get your nutrients from food, but unless you're eating 5-9 servings of veggies a day and 3-5 servings of fruits a day AND unless you are getting mostly organic fruits and veggies....  you have a good chance of not getting all the nutrients you need.

So a good multivitamin is kind of like an insurance policy... except cheaper and no paperwork hassles.    :)

I take a multi-antioxidant, fish oil, garlic capsules, chromium, and two more that I can't remember now... must need one for better memory.  ha!

if you type in gluten free in the search box at the top of the page and choose to search in the forums, it will bring up a whole list of posts where people have discussed gluten

good luck!  :)

most cities in america do have restaurants that aren't part of a chain, but usually they're located in the older parts of town... the downtown areas - not the newly developed areas near major highways with motels and strip malls and franchised everything

Even in the small town where I live we've got Paulette's Place with a sign out front that says Granny's in the Kitchen! Daily Specials $4.95.

Mind you, Granny's cookin' is not necessarily any healthier than fast food fare, but it is probably less processed.....

Found it!

:)

OK.  Find where it says this:

"Most of us claim that we watch what we eat. We also claim we change the oil every 3,000 miles. Do we really? It has been shown in tests that we tend to forget some of the bites that we make throughout the day. It turns out that most of us do remember that hamburger and french fries we had on the way home. But the things we tend to forget are the 50 grams of chocolate, the can of Coke, the bag of popcorn, and the few cookies we had before we went to bed. Unfortunately, those little details make all the difference and the only way to stay on track is to have a clear and complete picture of what we really eat throughout the day."
Weight Loss Colon Cleansing...kinda disgusting but important Nov 03 2006

Never underestimate peoples' fascination with their bums and all things bum-related.    :)

There's no scientific evidence that hydro colon therapy provides any benefits for your health.  However, just because there isn't scientific evidence, doesn't mean it's without benefit - just that it hasn't been demonstrated in a study.

Here's what the American Cancer Society says about it.

If you choose to have this procedure done, probably the most important thing is choosing a facility and an experienced practitioner that meets every sanitation and safety requirement.

I think that's a great movie too...  and unlike some people above, it leaves me feeling disgusted at the thought of artificial french fries that don't decompose... just .... uhg!!

However, fast food doesn't have to be unhealthy.  I made it a point to visit The Pump during my vacation in NYC.  This is fast food at its best - delicious and filling and good for you!

I hope that the restaurants in manhatten will succeed in being franchised out to the rest of the country because I think lots of us would love to have an option like this...

One point worth noting...  at mcdonalds, you can get a burger, fries and a drink for somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-$6.  At the Pump, you will pay at least $5 or $6 just for your sandwich or wrap...  So it does cost more.  But maybe it would cost a bit less if it was anywhere else but NYC ?

one tip that might help before I have to leave for the day....

cuetee - a long time ago, I discovered that if I drank a cup of skim milk, it made my craving for cookies go away. mainly because the only time i ever drank milk was when I made cookies.  So having the milk gave me the sense that I'd just had cookies even though I didn't.  A jedi calorie mind trick!  Plus skim milk is good for you and is supposed to help you lose weight....

hang in there girl!

I don't know why but I'm afraid to look at internet porn

Like the govt might be keeping a list and coming after people someday...

once I saw some midget porn by accident - this guy I used to work with told me to look at midget.com (I think) and when I did... I wasn't expecting that....  *shakes head* no

I tend to suppose he's more like a ken doll in that way -- and my dad too...
