Foods salad w/ crispy chicken? Jun 07 2007

I'd ask for the chicken to be grilled rather than breaded.  Also hold the above mentioned cheese, croutons, tortilla strips and such.  Also ask for your salad dressing on the side so you aren't served a drowning salad.

I ask for these subsitutes all the time at restaurants.  In most places its no big deal.

Oh another tip, any sandwich or anything on a bun be sure to note no butter!  Often buns and bread gets toasted and buttered and you'd never know it!
Motivation how many lbs in a size 11? Jun 07 2007

I'm 5' 5" and I was about 155ish when I was in a size 11.  Now I'm around 130 and I'm a size 3.   My biggest problem with jeans fitting is in my thighs.  They're still my 'problem area' (tho no way in heck do I plan to lose any more weight!)

If it's not a change that you can keep for the rest of your life, you're only setting yourself up to fail.

Instead learn to live better with the foods you love.  Yes, this means PORTIONS!  Love chocolate chip cookies?  You don't have to give them up.  Just know what days you have extra calories to spend on them and stay within that calorie allowance.  Will you have room for cookies every day?  Probably not.  See, this is about knowing your boundaries and being able to follow them.

Balance your portions, get all your nutrients, keep active and watch your calories.  Make this into life long habits and you'll never have another failed diet.

Fitness Trainer Certifications - which one and why? May 30 2007

Anyone else that has maybe worked with personal trainers know where their trainer is certified with?  I'm seeing that some job ads will list their approved certifications and the lists can be different for each job.  Would some certifications be more popular in different regions of the country?  I'm in MN, but hopefully could be moving to CO in the near future...

Thanks for the reply bod-man.    ;)    Glad ACE is one that I already cast aside and I feel even better now that I've heard it from a pro that's been in the business for a while!  Are there some certifcations that are less likely to get hired than others?  Maybe they're just not as well known?  IFPA is one that I was really interested in, but I don't see much reference to that one when I look at what different people are hiring for. I've been really looking a lot at the ISSA web page today and I think it's becoming my new favorite.  It's just there's so many organizations, how do you know you're choosing the right one!

Hi hi!
You can call me Nymo, Tolann, Madge... oh and there's a few other names too that I probably shouldn't mention!  I started running in June 2006.  I didn't even know if I'd like it, but now I'm hooked and totally a gym rat.  My goal this year is to run some sort of organized race once a month.  My last race was a 5mile run in which I finished 2nd for my age division/3rd female over all!  I even got a cheesy medal LOL!   I'd like to work on controling my pace better; I really want to speed it up.  It seems that in race mode I'm stuck in a rut and no matter what the distance I come out with about an 8minute mile.  My best 5K this year was 24min 19sec.  My 5mile run I finished in 39min 53seconds.  My longest organized run was back in DECEMBER at a 8mile trail run in Des Moines.  Yes it was COLD and guess what, I ran an 8minute mile (I got a silly plaque for that one too LOL).  So I gotta work on pace.

My next race will be the Tater Dayz 5K Spud Run.  LOL gotta love the names of these races!

If the weather is nice, I can get myself lost running pretty easily.  Last Saturday I ended up going for a 'quick' run and finally came home after 6miles - and that was after already spending 2 hours at the gym earlier that day.  My family thinks I've completely flipped my lid and when I was last staying at my parent's house for a visit, my mom drove out looking for me cuz I had been gone running for over an hour and a half.  It was a really great 9mile run tho!

As far as my time here on C-C, I started here around a year ago, and I attended the C-C meet up in Vegas last November.  I've lost 45lbs and have been maintaining now for 6months.  I still log all my food and all my activities every day as best I can.

Fitness the elliptical, arc trainer or treadmill??? May 10 2007

I love the ArcTrainer!   I spend most of my cardio time on the Arc.  But mixing it up now and then is good too just so your muscles don't get bored.  Every now and then I'll run on the treadmill, or crank the incline up to 15% and walk @3.5mph on the tread mill, and I spend time with the elliptical too - forwards and backwards.

I do think I burn most on the ArcTrainer.  Maybe just cuz I like it most and can really get into a rhythm with it.

I second what rboydmil says.  If you love depo, stay with depo and just make sure you're getting plenty of exercize and calcium to keep your bone density healthy.  I've been on depo for over 8 years now and you'll have to fight me to get me to switch anything else.

If I don't chew my arm off on the way home from the gym, I eat a little something as soon as I get in the door.

Luckily I still have 2 arms, so eating at home seems to be working.

Foods I eat icecream out of the measuring cup Apr 16 2007

I measure everything!  In fact my measuring cups and food scale don't leave my counter top.  I count out things like berries and grapes, I measure out my cereal and milk, I weigh all my meat.  I even brought my old food scale to work and left it in the kitchen so I can weigh my portions there too!  Portion control is very important.

And YES!  learn how to fit any food into a healthy diet.  Depriving yourself of your favorite treats will only set you up for failure once you've reached your goal weight.   Learn how to control portions and earn your extra calories.  you'll need these habits not only to lose, but to maintain too!

ooh peanut sauce on chicken breast sounds much better than the peanut butter/ tuna smoothie I had in mind LOL

I'm kidding.  I'd never try to make a PB&T smoothie, but it does sound funny...

I played EverQuest for about 4+ years (aka Ever Crack)
I played EverQuest 2 for about 10months - way too easy.
Now I play WoW.  I had played up to lvl 60 with my undead priest 'til July.  I just started playing again when Burning Crusade came out and I started over and rolled a Draenei priest.  She's lvl 43.

I was really really addicted to EQ and WoW the first time around.  Now I can go a nite or 2 of not playing and I don't feel like I've dropped obligations LOL.

I like having my computer time.  My husband plays WoW with me and he has a few other football games and such that he also plays.  If he's not online, I can still find something to do with my character.  If he is online, it's something we can do together.
