I've had the same problem. When you focus all attention on what you eat, then you tend to stay hungry all day long. I've dieted many times and have lost some weight with it, but nothing that didn't eventually come back on. I don't want to diet my entire life and count calories and stay hungry until they slammed the casket shut. I'm recently back here for about the 4th time and have decided that this time, I am not going to count calories or come up with an intense exercise routine that isn't realistic. This time I'm going to go slow and concentrate on making lifestyle changes - cutting out the bad foods and adding in better choices - one change at a time. I'd much rather watch numbers go up than worry about the numbers on the scale going down anyway. The scale can only go down so far, but those numbers going up have no limit!! The numbers going up, I can fully control, too - 21 days fast food free, 22 days fast food free, 23 days, etc. I figure eventually the weight loss will kick in and the weight will come off. I already sleep better and have more energy and just having the extra energy to do little things - like catch up on all the chores that I've been putting off because I was too tired - will burn some calories! |

Welcome back! I gained all of my weight after having a baby, too. But, my baby is 11 years old and the weight is still on thanks to a new-found thyroid issue (actually, I think pregnancy kicked the thyroid issue into over drive and it took until last year to figure it out.) Anyway, I'm 5'-8" and hover around 200. I crossed over 200 last month for the first time ever and that started me back trying to take the weight off. This time I'm trying to go about things differently and switch good habits for bad habits rather than to simply count calories - hoping this will make any weight loss a permanent loss. Diabetes also runs in my family and I've seen how devastating it can be. I don't want to be in a wheel chair in my 60's. I want to be travel!! So, that has been another incentive to change habits rather than to just count calories. |

Frozen smoothies are the best treat for when you want something sweet. I put in a pack (the single serve packs, not the little tub packs) of orange Crystal Lite with a banana and some frozen pineapple. Blend away until it's smoothe. YUUUUMMMMMM. |

I don't have planned cheat days, but they sometimes happen and when they do, I don't fret over it. It's not the day to day that matters, but the long term. I don't think it's a good idea to reward yourself with food or allowing yourself to cheat (which is essentially rewarding yourself with food), so I try to come up with other rewards. It may be something as simple as a magazine and a long hot bath for meeting that weeks goal or as elaborate as a weekend at a B&B or a new outfit for achieving a milestone. If you want a snack size candy bar, then have a snack size candy bar, but count it in with your daily calorie count. Don't disregard those calories and call it a cheat day. |

The McD's here will allow you to order just a plain piece of grilled chicken for $1 (provided you actually order something else - you can't just go in and order the grilled chicken). Anyway, I usually get two side salads from the $1 menu and a piece of chicken for lunch if I go there. They give you two packs of dressing since you are ordering two salads, but I always take one pack home for when I have salad at home. Decent lunch, and it's only $3. |

183.2 AGAIN this morning. LOL! I think I'm gonna be up a bit in the morning, though. I can feel it - le brassiere is a bit tight. I'll never see highschool weight again, but that is a good thing. I probably weighed 90-95 pounds around graduation. I weighed a "whopping" 99 pounds when I got married at age 20. Most I had ever weighed in my life. Ex-husband bought me lingerie for our honeymoon and bought a size large. |

I looked back at my chart on here, and I have been at 183.2 since May 15. Not a single variance from it. Not 183.3, not 183.1. 183.2 EXACTLY since May 15. After about 4-5 days of that, I thought the scale was going bad or the batteries needed replaced. So, weighed with clothes on and with holding a bottle of laundry detergent (ok, it was handy at the moment) and came up with different numbers than 183.2. So, it's not stuck. It's me that's stuck. LOL! Oh well, this is my week to 'retain water' so staying 183.2 is a good thing, I guess. Here's hoping for a nice weightloss next week. |

I'm going to tank up on water this week and see if that helps. My weight loss this weeks seems to have stalled. I've been at 183.2 for probably 5 days now, but I got dehydrated over the weekend being outside and I don't think I've rehydrated yet. Hopefully that will kickstart things again. Despite my sucky weigh-in for this week, it looks like the green team is going to lead this week as well. |

Original Post by sarahc09: Oh, that is SOOOOOOOO going on my white board as the quote of the week for this week. As a matter of fact, I may write it with a Sharpie. I'll have a loss this week, but it won't be a big one. Really surprised, too, as I didn't go eat at my mom's house this weekend (that's when I get in trouble). So, we'll see. I won't have more than a 1lb weight loss, though. As of yesterday, I was only down 0.6 from the Sunday before. But, I guess that's better than up. |

I love spreadsheets, too. I even use Excel for things that are probably better done in other software programs. LOL! YAY GREEN TEAM! |

Original Post by bhmoore: I have a plastic cup that holds, I don't know.........probably close to a 1 liter of water. I sell on ebay and have a scale that measures to the 1/10th ounce. I actually weighed it full of water one day (used the tare button to reset it so was weighing just water, not water and cup), and it was just a little over 2 pounds. So, now when I step on the scale, I know that up to 2 pounds can just be from drinking water late in the day. That helps me not freak out over a 2 pound gain. I think a gallon weighs a little over 8 pounds. A friend of mine works construction, and it's not unusual for him to lose 10-12 pounds during the day just from working in the heat. Water weighs a lot more than people think. |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
