Hi there. I'm new too. I'm 5"8" (I think, I might have shrunk), 51 and weigh 200. I lost 3 pounds in four days so I'm excited. I was doing Weight Watchers on line but this site is free and I like it. Still discovering how to do things.
Like you I have physical problems regarding exercise. I've had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands and CMC joint arthritis surgery on both thumbs. I'm recovering with the left thumb now. It takes approximately a year. It's been 16 months since my right hand was done and I still can't lift a 1/2 gallon of milk. Plus I have Degeneritive disc disease and a bulging disc. I've had back problems since I was 25
I got terminated by my employer after 24 years because my first doctor wrote on my return to work slip, limited movement of thumbs. Well, you can't work in a bank without your thumbs. So, I've been out of work for almost 3 years. My husband retired 2 years ago which is great since I can't do a whole lot.
The only exercise I can do right now is walk at a max of 3 mph (haven't gotten there yet). If my back starts to hurt I have to stop. I also have a recumbumbent bike that I'm finally starting to use. I'm starting out very slowly and will build it up.
You are doing absolutely terrific!! They say walking is the best exercise but with your gout and ankle that's probably not a good idea. I'd ask your doctor what you could be able to do. There are exercises you can do sitting down. I'd do a search for exercise on google. You can try fitday.com, Sparkpeople.com actually shows you how to do exercises and is very helpful with all sorts of topics. I'm guessing your first name is Kyle which is my youngest sons name.
Good luck, I'm right here with you.
