I'm referring to babies and children not to adults. I think that as adults almost all of us have heard of God and sin. I'm sure there are some rare cases of adults who have not but I cannot think of one person that doesn't at least know who God is and know the definition of a sin. Whether they believe is of course up to them.
A 3 year may have heard about God and sin but to be able to actually comprehend it would be crazy in my opinion. That's why I believe that children who have passed will have a special place in heaven.
I also believe the same for a mentally ill person. The mentally ill and handicapped that never leave a child like state are "God's special children" in my eyes. After death they will not have to suffer these earlthy things any longer.
As a side note I prefer the King James Version of the bible. Although it's not mandatory to read the bible it is God's word and I strongly agree in opening it's pages for strength, peace, wisdom, etc.
I have read it.
To seek wisdom in it's translated and changed words though, I cannot.
EDIT: I read this in my late teens. After reading it, was when I absolutely knew I could never be the Catholic my parents were or wished of me. I couldn't make myself believe words written by random people, translated, lost in time, and changed several times to fit new and current situations. Even if they were, at one time words of this God, they are now altered, and are not his.
I'm re-reading it, as of late, because my sister is going to a Baptist University and honestly Dave Mustaine. Dave Mustaine is a political genius (and this has been proven through his music). So the boy is in no way dumb. To change your life around 180 degrees, and promote religion as he does, there's either an amazing lie that even the "smart" can believe, or he had nothing else to believe in. I just want to know which it was. |

I'm starting to get reminded of my first date with my husband:
I'm sure his review would be something like:
Crazy shy, red in the face all night, even if you ask her to kiss you, she'll still fumble on words. Nice set of blue eyes. |

It's fun to dip them in water and make them cry. Then we get to take pictures with cute babies and then eat good food to celebrate.
LMAO.. and rub oil in their hair that you can barely remove afterwards.
Reminds me.. I gotta baptize my son. If they make me take that stupid class again.... I'm going to be one mad woman. |

Just wondering what everyone thought on our oversensitve world.
Here's a true one:
Kid gets hit in the face with a ball, Kid's mom threatens with lawsuit, School bans balls altogether. |

Can't speak for all, but I had mine baptized. (Husband's religion... not mine)
The class they MADE US take explained that: (This is what the class said.. not me)
Adam and Eve. When Eve took a bite of the forbidden fruit, God cast them out of Eden. One of the "punishments" for this act was not only to be cast out, but they were to live in sin, and everyone after them was to live in sin. At a baptism, the ritual (because that's what it is.. in the end) is performed so they can clear your soul from the "Original Sin" and remove that black mark against you.
Now usually this is where me, who's not Catholic, goes in and says: "And the born without baptism? The girl that dies in her mother's arms after leaving the womb?" The answer I got was: "Because of Adam and Eve's sin, they didn't have the chance to get baptized, they still have the original sin placed apon them. This is why priests are called in if the baby is in danger of dying, to baptize and perform last rites".
I then made a smart-ass remark. |

Original Post by travs_girl: "Christian" derives from the Greek word Christ, a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term Messiah. Acts 11:26 King James Version (KJV)
26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
I believe that God gives us all a measure of faith. Even those who call themselves "unbelievers" have some small inkling of faith. It's your choice whether or not you let that faith grow.
Romans 14:11 King James Version (KJV)
11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
This verse from Romans is one of the first pieces of the scripture that really called to me. I believe when He comes we will all cry out to Him. I can't imagine what it would be like to not believe and then when that day comes....it being too late. I imagine the shrieks and cries of the unsaved will be deafening.
That's because you were taught to believe in that day by a religion in a book written by many humans tranlated millions of times (millions not to be taken litteraly, I know some of you will try... Millions is ment as A WHOLE FREAKIN' LOT), changed to convey new messages.
If you were told from the day you were born, that there is no such thing as god, you wouldn't have had that fear.
Before people come gushing at me, I was just pointing out that thebelief is shown onto you at birth, thus you worry about it.
It does make me wonder though, if religion is like this, isn't everything else? What about politics, ways of life? I mean, is this why you hear the chants of children hating on a race/religion, is this the reason why some people vote the way they do?
Makes you think. How much of our everyday life is OUR thinking and not the lessons bestowed on us from birth? |

No, not really. Much too pricey for what you get. (at least the ones up here) They have been ok in the states though.
But for a breakfast put out by you.........
I might as well jump in, I'm bored out of my skull.....
Here's a list of foods in the USA I wanna eat:
TGI Friday's, anywhere
It's your funeral.
Denny's, anywhere (I heard from my husband we have a few.. not many)
Canadians are evidently obsessed with Denny's. It's your funeral.
Pizza, some little pizza shack in brooklyn, NY
Let me know how finding a shack in Brooklyn goes.
Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, some little shack in Philly
Steak, Texas
Hm. So, the good steak is in Texas, but you're going to eat it in Pennsylvania...
Orange, right off of an orange tree, Florida
Thief.
Apple Pie, Tenesse
Um...this is just odd. First, you're going to have a hard time finding "Tenesse." Second, the state you're referencing has little to do with apples.
Sonic's, anywhere
Ok.
Dunkin Donuts, and it BETTER not be better than timmies..... or die...
I can tell you from experience that it is. :>
Popeye's (The tv makes em look soo damn good)
It's your funeral.
I heard Friday's was ok
Denny's well my husband said it was good in Alberta, but even better in the USA
When I said "shack" I meant a small restaurant. The kind you go into because you know it's the best spot in town, no matter how crummy it looks.\]
The apple pie.. well I just want an apple pie where I find it cute how they pronnounce apple pie :)
Dunkin.. I heard that too.. but I don't want to believe it....
And popeyes, I heard good and bad things... |

peebeegee, in part, it's likely because you attempt to speak for all canadians. and also, sometimes thoughts are best left unsaid.
Now this makes me wonder why there's a set of rules for some people and not for others.
Again, I have NO issue with NP's post. None whatsoever. Why aren't you all down her throat for a subjective thought? She spoke for every settlement winner.
Must be nearing the full moon....
Probably because I've been here longer than five minutes and they're used to my offensiveness.
You gotta ease them into it, see.
More than likely, that or people just seem to be on the rag.. or something.
Got to be a full moon. I've agreed with almost all of your posts todya.
I'm actually not an idiot. Or a biyatch.
Just because I say one thing you find horribly offensive doesn't mean I'm in general a horribly offensive person. There are so many, many issues and subjects to be discussed...we couldn't possibly disagree on all of them.
I can sure as hell try. (JK).

oh come on ya'll. it's pretty obvious that our country is damn greedy. Maybe not all Americans, but our country's leaders are greedy as hell. That's why we are in this awful mess right now: it was all about the money, not about the people. I know that's another thread, so going back, I don't think peegeepee literally meant everyone, but being sue happy is stereotype of Americans. it probably comes from some of us who need to be in everyone's business (again, not because those people care, but because they worry about how one person effects their life).

Except you aren't the messenger. Nobody sent you to tell people how other people view the U.S. and its residents use of the legal system.
But at least you went all the way and spoke for everyone else on Earth.
Figured someone would open their bouche.
It's a stereotype. It's common outside the USA. (You wouldn't believe how). Do I agree with it? No. I'm just saying that it's EXTREMELY common to know an American as money hungry and will sue the pants off of you if they can find reason. You can fight it, debate it all day, in the end the stereotype still will remain common.
(Kinda like thinking someone from the south likes Nascar)
(Kinda like thinking a Canadian likes hockey)
(See stereotypes thread)
Wishes someone would close her bouche. You're being an ugly Canadian pbg
What?
NP says a very vague stereotype. Something she notices.
I have no problem with said stereotype.
I say a stereotype considering the same idea, (suing) and it's wrong? I don't believe said stereotype, just mentionned that it was EXTREMELY common.
I'm just wondering how I'm ugly for mentionning a stereotype you are already aware exists. |

He was a guy.
He taught true enlightenment. (and so much more).
I just used him as an example of teachings I don't believe as well :).
Point is: I don't believe the alien's story. Like I didn't believe Glooscap's. it was an example.
Why does everyone take example to the deep end?
buddha was a deep guy, but I'm not sure how I was taking "it" to the deep end by stating he didn't espouse a belief in deities.
I just gave a random list of religious figures I don't believe in, not to be taken literally. I don't understand why people pick and probe at every word as if it's in stone.
The whole point of the post was to say: No, I wouldn't believe in a christian alien. |
