I was a vegetarian for 3 years and I started incorperating chicken into my diet again. I had no issues, but I also started slow. I would add a little more each week, I didn't just grab a large piece of fried chicken!
Adding a little bit of meat back in my diet has aided me in my weight loss journey. Keep in mind I only eat lean meat and in small quantities. But it helps keep me fuller longer! |

| Weight Loss | Birth Control? | May 04 2007 00:43 (UTC) |

| I talked to my doctor about my weight gain and how I thought it was from my birth control. She said that birth contol can only account for up to 5 pounds a year of weight gain the rest is from lifestyle and eating changes. Birth control doesnt make you gain weight, it increases your appetitie but if you are aware of it you can control it. If you find that you are more hungry than you used to be, note it and talk to your doctor. There are plenty of other signs you should look out for like depression and such, just be aware when starting any new medicine regimine. Birth control isnt all evil :) | |||

I found myself asking this question recently when I had a little bug not to long ago. I did a little research and this is what I found. If you are really sick like high fever, nausia, or contagious DO NOT WORK OUT. It is important to listen to your body. But if you have a little bug where you are coughing and sneexing ect something MILD.... then its okay to work out. Its up to you to make the call, I found many conflicting sites where I learned to listen to my body. Heres some site that might help you make your decision

I just got my HRM and I love it. I paid a little more than I wanted but it counts the calories burned as well as keeps track of my workouts. I got the polar f4 its designed for women. Just do some research out there before you go and buy one, because maybe you can find one cheeper that fits your needs. But I would return the other one if it doesn't do what you want it to do.
Good luck! |

I am in the same boat 5'3 135, and hey that is considered in the healthy weight range but it doesn't mean you feel comfortable in your skin. Congrats on losing 10 pounds! That is tough for us shorties. Keep up the good work you will reach your goal and your friend will notice.
I know how tough it is when you are the only one trying to make improvements. All of my friends are happy with their bodies and lifestyle so when I need the help and encouragement, sometimes I dont get it. But hey thats what CC is for! Stay strong and remember you dont have to prove anything to anyone but yourself. I still have 15ish pounds to go! |

I just started my healthy lifestyle/weight loss journey and I have always been in the 115-120 range but college came along I fell in love and now I'm 135...ish. I have been exercising and eating well for about 2 weeks. I do not count calories (For me it's just too time consuming) Although the scale isn't budging. I know I must be patient, when you are small and only have a little to lose it doesn't just fall off. But it gets frustrating!
Any tips? |

I am no expert but it sounds like you need to gain weight. I'm 5'3 and 133 pounds. I am in the healthy weight range for my age and hight. You are still young and growing you need to fuel your body for its rapid changes. You shouldn't be depriving yourself although there is no harm in healthy choices.
Good luck and you should always talk to your parents, they can be pretty helpful in situations like this. |

| I have come to the realization that life isn't going to get any easier. I am a senior and attending grad school in January. I still work 30 hours a week while taking a full load. When I saw that I kept packing on the pounds and putting off the gym because of the million excuses ( i have to study, im tired, i have to clean.. blah blah blah ) I decided things need to change. Going to the gym needs to be a priority and shouldn't be a chore. I now make time in my schedule to go ( Why not take advantage of the FREE gym ). Because once we get degrees and work full work weeks, its not like this magical gym time is going to pop up to ho! You have to make time for it, and in the end it will pay off! | |||
| Weight Loss | When does the counting stop? | Apr 06 2007 14:09 (UTC) |

| When I made the decision that I needed to lose weight I did not count calories. I simply made good decisions in my food choices and yes every once and a while enjoyed some of lifes guilty pleasures (Brownies for me). But then the following meal I was extra cautious as to what I was eating. I just make sure I get my daily servings of fruits and veggies while excercising. I have come to the point where working out isnt a chore its a part of my daily life. Now this has become my new lifestyle. Lets hope I can stick to it! | |||

I am afraid I don't know. I havn't really been counting my calories, more than keeping a good eye on them. I would just like a shake that gives me energy for my work out ( 30 min + cardio daily and weight training 3 times a week ) and helps lose fat and build muscle.
Any suggestions would help. |
