  • Aug. 2: 173   Down 4 pounds!! Sweet! It's most likely water weight, but that doesn't make me any less proud of myself
  • Aug. 9: 174   Up a little, but still down overall.  This weekend was pretty bad and I've been slacking on excercise.  Getting back on track this week.
  • Aug. 16: Vacation.. no scale at the house.
  • Aug. 23: Just got back and I'm skipping my weigh in. Dont want to get discouraged. Jumped right back on the wagon when I got home, so I will be really excited if I atleast maintained. 
  • Aug. 30: 175 I cheated and checked my weight last week and had gone up to 178, so I have actually done quite well, byt getting down to 175.

    Ok guys, just got back from my long vacation yesterday (was in Miami for 9 days)  I'm not gonna even bother weighing myself this week, because I ate so terribly the whole time.  I know it will just depress me. So I'm going to wait until next Monday to start logging my weight.

    I am proud though, because I have gotten right back into the swing of things with my calorie goals (between 1300-1400) and planning on taking a 60 minute pilates class and 90 minute vinyasa yoga class tonight to make up for my lack of excercise on vacay. 

    I have to get back to work but later tonight I will go through the posts and try to get involved.  I know it's a late start, but a start nonetheless.

    I try to get in a few yoga, pilates, and spinning sessions in each week, but lately I have been slacking badly.  Hoping this group will motivate me to actually get all of those weekly goals done.  I have only been able to maintain the past 4 months, and I know that if I just work really hard on my excercise I can finally drop these pounds.

    I'm going on vacation until the 23rd, so I might not be able to post until after that.

    I would love to join.  Nice to finally find a group that is just starting, because I always end up trying to jump on the bandwagon too late.  I am 23 years old.. So far I have lost about 35 pounds and have anywhere from 28 to 33 more pounds to go.  It depends on how I look when I get down to 145 whether I try for those last 5 pounds.  I'm pretty tall (5'9'') so 145 may be just right. This is perfect timing too because the past few months have been difficult.  I was stuck at a plateau for a while, and I kinda gave up and gained 10 pounds back.  Recently I dropped the 10 pounds, but am having a hard time finding the motivation to keep going.  Atleast I am maintaining right now.  Just need a little boost.

    Like most of the people that have replied already, I am taking biotin in addition to a B-vitamin supplement and I have noticed that my hair, skin, and nails all have a healthier look.  My hair is thicker and I noticed that not as much falls out in the shower and when I brush it.  My nails don't break as badly.  And my skin has a nice glow to it.  It definitely helps make everything healthier, but not grow any faster.  I love that Biotin is sooo cheap too.  Got it from my pharmacy for 3 bucks for a 3 months supply!

    Banana Nut Cheerios with a sliced banana! Sometimes its fun to have breakfast for dinner.. Not too bad caloriewise either with skim milk. =]

    I finally have some shape back in my face.. When I was 30 pounds heavier my face was very round, now I've got my killer cheek bones back.

    I have basically the same stats.. 5'9'', SW 208, CW 175, GW 140.. I have been fluctuating between 170 and 180 for the past few months and its getting quite frustrating. I could definitely use some motivation and support to get this weight off.

    As for today Goals 7/13/09

    1. Have some sort of deficit today, for once. Did really well, about 800 calorie deficit.

    2. Take the All Level Hatha Yoga class tonight, and try for 15-20 minutes on the elliptical at home. Took yoga, skipped elliptical

    3. Actually take the online class today, I think my internet is working now. I'm such a procrastinator..

     

    Goals 7/15/09

    1. Going out to dinner with my family tonight.. I want to make a smart choice, and depending on what I get try the trick where you split the portion in half and get the other half wrapped to go before you even eat the meal.  I've heard that helps.

    2. Take the LSAT online lesson tonight. No excuses.

    3. Unable to take a yoga class tonight.. so after dinner I would like to get on the elliptical for 20 minutes.

    I am 5'9 and wear a size 12 or 14.. weighing in at around 175.  I also carry alot of my weight around my hips so that really makes a difference.  At my lowest weight (around 140) I was still only in a 9.. so yeah it really depends on your body type more so than height.

    4. Only have one drink when I go out tonight, and make it a good choice.. like diet and rum, instead of my usual beer binge.

    And for the whole week/weekend.. I want to wait to weight myself until next week, because I have the bad habit of checking every day and I know that is a bad idea. So it is my goal to wait until next Wednesday to weigh myself.

    1. Epic fail - ended up eating some fries when I went out and pretty much screwed everything up.

    2. Did take the Beginner Cycling class, but did not make it to Pilates.. My legs felt like jelly and I didn't want to push it too far just yet.

    3. Internet wasn't working when I got home, so I had no choice.

    4. Ended up going to a wine tasting and had two drinks when I was out later that night.. not doing so good.

    I haven't weighed myself yet, gonna wait till Wednesday.

    Try frozen whole fruit bars without any added sugar.. usually run about 70 to 80 calories and are oh so yummy! You can also find them with yogurt too, at about 100 calories.

    Also try some fat free Greek yogurt, add a little honey to sweeten it up and some granola for crunch and flavor.  Also good with some berries when they are still available.

    I was planning on starting this.. I will start tonight.. Week one, day one! I used to run cross country in high school but always had issues with shin splints, so before I go out tonight I will try some specialized straches before and after.  Hopefully that will minimize any issues.. I am going to do a 5k for charity in August and I was hoping to be able to atleast run most of the race.

    Tannis - It's awesome that you found a way to stop before your early morning binge got out of control.  I usually tend to get crazy, I find a way to convince myself that once I have eaten badly, that I should just continue eating badly.  Not the best way to be thinking, probably why I haven't budged from my platuea, but I've been doing better this week.  I'm down a pound from last week. =]  Anyway, my long term goal is 150, but I don't want to say that I will stay there.  I hope that if I can continue to lose I will keep going as long as I stay at a  healthy weight, which I believe is anything over 135 for me.  I weighed about 125-130 in high school, but I don't think I looked all that great, a little too skinny for sure.  As of right now, I'm in between sizes, most 12s are too small and 14s too big.  I would love to get back in an 8 or 10.

    Laura and Sharpdust - It's motivating just to know that others have been able to somehow jumpstart weight loss again.  You see, I kind of gave up when I got to 175 about 4 months ago, but I am so glad that I have been able to maintain.  The past few weeks I have been trying to lose some weight but I've just been staying between 170 and 175.. can't seem to get to the 160s.

    Shizz - Ruth's Chris!! Yum!  That's the only way I keep sane, is by giving in occasionally.  And I always try to make sure it's something super worth it.  Just stick it out with the manual, you will get it, just gotta keep chugging away at it.  And I feel ya with the whole gym thing.  Honestly, I have been putting off the whole excercise thing.  I lost the majority of my weight by cutting calories, but I haven't really excercised regularly.  I know that will help ALOT.

    Chi - That is the way to go! Congrats, keep up the good work.  And this way you will have a much easier time of maintaining. 

    This week I have been eating much better but have been drinking a little more than normal.  I just need to be really good one week, and not give in at all and see how well I do.  I think that would greatly help my confidence in myself, I know I can do this.  I get so frustrated but I know it's because I give in a little too often.  And I just need to get my bum on my bike and go for a ride, it's been beautiful out!

    I would like to join..

    I am 5'9 and I started at 208 pounds, it has been a year and I am down to somewhere between 170-175.  I can't seem to budge from here, my goal is 150.  Figured this would be a good way to get motivated and get past this plateau.
