When I was younger (growing up) I played in all kinds of sports, but after college I just got out of that mode and working various office jobs and eating the same high calorie foods slowly but surely put about 100-120 extra pounds on me.

Now at the age of 40 and after making a lot of bad decisions in my life, I've decided that if I am to properly love my God, my wife, and my children that I have to love myself.  It says in God's word to love others as you love yourself.  I have not loved myself much for awhile.  I see exercise and eating right as a primary way of loving myself.  In the short time I have been doing this I have begun to feel way better physically and mentally.  I'm excited to see where things will be in 6 months.

I started at 270 pounds.  My current goal is to get down to 200 pounds and then we will see where we go from there.  However, I've found that I seem to be putting on muscle fast as I lift weights and I'm a fairly big framed guy so I may carry a bit more muscle weight than the typical guy my height so I may never be able to get down to the ideal BMI.  I'm more concerned on proportions, fat percent, and overall health vs. becoming the next GQ model.

Anyway, I've learned a ton from this website and have already recommended it to dozens of people.  Enjoy the journey because life is too short.
