About a shelter...they have a lot of ppl who would come and go when they have time and it is hard for them to organize choirs on daily basis when one day you are there and next you may be stuck at work etc. I also thought that they would rather take anything than nothing, but that was not the case.

Maybe I just got hold off the wrong person. Who knows. :)

And abut the word reliable...I guess poor choice of words on my part. It is not that I think of myself as unreliable person (quite the opposite). I was trying to point out that I can not promise that I will be there at the shelter exactly let say 6 o'clock if I have deadlines etc. The same reason why I can not get a dog (unless I have a dog walker/yard). It just goes around in circle doesn't it? :)

Yeah, you might wanna try the shelter again!  Usually they are cool with people just coming and walking/playing with dogs, if nothing else.  The more the dogs are walked and around new people, the better they will get on a leash and the more likely they will get adopted!

i thought this, but it's definitely not the case at the shelter i volunteer at! they expect you there for your shift, as if it's a job, and they expect you to find coverage for that shift if you can't make it. really it does make sense, for a place that is 100% volunteer run. they need to know people are going to be there and when they'll be there to get the dogs out. they try to avoid the dogs feeling they need to mess in their kennels so regular scheduled walks are a neccessity!

they also need to have people there who don't just want to do the fun parts petting, playing and walking, but who are also willing to scrub out kennels, etc.

shelters are actually able to be pretty picky about their volunteers because there are so many people who want to do it.

they do the same thing at my shelter jules. But all i do is say i want one shift i absolutely know i can FOR sure make it.. say.. saturday at 3pm (random generated date and time lol)... that's my "allotted time" that i'm EXPECTED to come in for... every other day i decide to come in is whenever i have time.. i'm not booked in.. but they never turn away ppl who show up, in fact.. they told us that right at the orientation!

so perhaps that's something you can ask about?? take a shift you know you can for sure do.. then if you want to throw in an hour here or there that might be cool?

I went to look at houses recentely..

cost of the mortgage was lowww... it was a bank foreclosure, only needs a new roof, and new kitchen floor, very big and spacious, basement fully finished, in a highly resellable neighbourhood, parking.. which other houses around it do not. Two middle schools/elementary schools located in walking distance, one high school in walking distance, gigantic shopping centre about a 20 minute walk away, huge park also about 20 minutes in the other direction, close to major bus routes, etc etc etc..

now this bad boy might cost me next to nothing in rent.. in fact would cost me about the same as i'm renting currently.

Except with my current rent, I do not have to maintain anything. Landlord comes in and fixes everything, we don't have to go out and buy new appliances, because they're already included.

We don't have to pay for property taxes, those pesky bills such as heat/hydro/water/ cable... since it's already included.. And best yet... when we want to travel.. because some people like to go away, I don't have to find a way to get someone to maintain my lawn overgrowth/snow so the bylaw officer here doesn't come and write me up some warnings/tickets.

oh and the building we live in is a short walk from both our works... where if we were to get a house it would be either a bus ride/drive away.. so we should probably take into consideration travel costs as well. Gas isn't cheap here.

So we decided to keep renting at the moment. In fact.. it costs us a car payment + car nsurance LESS to rent than to buy... So that is why some people who are perfectly able decide that they would rathr rent than buy.

And it's not a waste of money.. since i'm paying for the cost of shelter, and I suppose cost of storage too lol.

If i were in your shoes though, by all means pay it down. As long as you don't get penalized for making early payments than all the power to you! I'd do it to. I love paying things down early.

ok as for the OP-

it wasn't too long ago that I was a kid... and I used to say that all the time.. as did my peers..

Main reason number 1) because we all thought it was cool and everyone else was saying it. ya lame i know. but it's probably the exact same thing in this case. I know when we said it, it was in relationship to actual cheating on SO's.. along with "it's not cheating if it's in a different postal code/zip code".

However... i know myself and severeal other people didn't actually believe the sentiment.

as for OJ-... I have no recollection of anything except of the "glove didn't fit" which was referenced in my law class, and what was referenced on south park/family guy.

so... i got nothing.

Is there a religion/society that practices marriage of multiple (3+) parties of BOTH sexes, in such a way that all parties are "married" to all of the others?

Apparently so.

aweee you beat me to it!! sorry lildutch girl.. i went for a run.

there are polygamist marriages where there are 2+ husbands and 2+ wives.. (so 4 ppl.. 2 dudes.. 2 chicks).. where it is a group marriage. they're married to each other. Thats' the type i was referring to.. not so much the 1 husband (or wife) and 2+ wives (or husbands)..

that's what i was saying boggled my mind.

i danced with this guy in grade... i have no freakin clue.. it was in middle school.. i;m going to say grade 5 or 6?

anyways.. i danced one dance with this guy.. who didn't like me.. but his brother who DID like me.. but was dating my best friend (oh drama so young.. lol) paid him 5 bucks to do it. so we danced.. and.. that was it..

his now fiance/girlfriend whatever.. hated me for YEARS because i danced with him that one dance.. even though him and i never dated or kissed or even really.. talked.. and the kicker was i didn't know who she was.. i had never met her. i didn't meet her until like 10 years after the fact.. and she still disliked me. ok.

my biggest grudge? oh geez... everything you could have ever done to me lol.. it's not that i "grudge" so much.. as that everytime i'm angry at you i'll think about all the things in the past lol.. i'd never mention them.. but i think them lol.

oh!!and with the fiance's brother. he's a pretentious dick (in general). i made a joking comment once.. with a laugh and everything.. and it wasn't an offensive comment.. but he didn't get it.. so i explained it.. and he got angry at me.. and we got in this issue over an obviously joking comment.. to which i responded that i would apologize that we didn't have the same sense of humor.. but that's all i was apologizing for. especially since everyone else got the joke.

anyways.. this was all over facebook no less.. so whenever i've met him i've only ever said "hi" and "bye"... it's been over a year now.. he asked the fiance why i was so quite.. and jeff just told his brother that i was shy lol. that's my biggest stupid grudge.

i mean... even polygamy is an accurate term for marriage. I find it odd that a bunch of people can have a group marriage.. are able to CALL it a group marriage.. even if it's multiple husbands AND multiple wives (so.. there is multiple dudes and ladies.. although they're not doing each other.. they're still on married to each other)... but two single dudes or chicks cannot?

that really boggles my mind lol.

indeed? i did not know that it was second.

did you know that the word "nice" comes from the latin "not to know". so back in the day when you called someone a "nice" person you were in fact calling them arrogant?

Really?  I did not know that.  I love etymology.  So what is the etymology of the word marriage?  I'm going to have to look that up.

i'm not so focused on what it was or is.. but that it has the ability to change.

even if it meant "one man and one woman" for X number of years.. once it means "two persons" for x number of years plus 1 day.. then what? then nothing really.. you just keep going forward. we're not meant to be in stasis (to my knowledge of life and science fiction lol).

So you are suggesting that there be a law that supports your beliefs (that marriage only applies to an opposite sex couple), even though this law would have no impact on your life, but would affect others, who, needless to say, don't share in your belief.

All so that... what... you can continue believing that the love between a man and a woman is somehow different (better?) than between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman?

Why are you jumping down my throat????

You have NO idea what I do and do not believe.

I am suggesting a compromise.  That they get the benefits and whatnot that goes along with a "union" and leave marriage alone as it has existed for thousands of years.

Why is it that gays should suddenly have the RIGHT to change what marriage has been forever?  That is what I was talking about in my original post.  They are shoving their lifestyle down other people's throats.  That is just as close-minded as those who think they are second class citizens.

Isn't a civil union "recognizing" them?  They would get all the benefits that go along with that at their places of employment, etc.  But NO, they HAVE to MAKE people believe and accept them for what they are and AT THE SAME TIME not accept other people's beliefs.  And then cry that they are so wronged.  Just go about your damn life and do not tell people what to believe OR tell them that they are wrong because they don't believe the same that you do.

So many people get on their high-horse about gays and don't realize that what they are doing is exactly what they are accusing others of.  Why do people HAVE to accept them?  I have read so much belittling of people who may not see eye to eye with gays.  What makes you any different than them when you do not accept what they believe?

the double-double is in the dictionary now.

And there are 3 men sitting next to each other, rubbing tanning oil on each other while their girlfriends are attempting to use the grill.  What's wrong with this picture?

I totally know what's wrong with this post... and it sickens me as well. attempting? seriously? those girls need to get their butts in gear and grill up some mean meat. none of that silly "attempting" stuff... pfft.

i'm pissed off that i spend 40$ at a "higher scale" hair cutting place (than 15$ haircrafters lol)...

but not only did my "trim" consist of them hacking off 2 inches.. which i originally only wanted trimmed because i'm trying to grow my extremely slow-growing hair out for my wedding in 3 months and need all the length i can to blend in with my 100$ extensions..

but it had NOTICABLE, uneven and choppy layers.. that i have to go back tomorrow for them to fix .. which i was told will make it shorter..

it took me 1 year to grow three inches of healthy hair.. so i don't think i'll make that cut in 3 months.. so there goes my hair.. and now my hair extensions. GRRRR!!!
