My trick has been finding yummy new foods that I can eat on the diet. I found a new quiche recipe that is by far my favorite meal right now... and it is really healthy! I also have to admit I have had a lot of fun searching for and trying healthy new snacks to find ones that I love; for example I have rediscovered the joys of string cheese :) Make the diet change an adventure, something to get excited about, and you'll see it in a whole new light!
Also I have to agree with some of the other replies- If there is something that you loved before there is no reason to stop eating (or drinking) it altogether, just find some portion control and fit it into the menu. I have at least one piece of chocolate every day :)

Reading this post makes me feel so much more optimistic! I want to thank everyone who has shared! It means so much that I am not alone in how I feel.
I want to loose weight to look normal with my boyfriend- right now he is tall and skinny (6 ft) and I am short and round ( 5 ft 1in) I feel like everyone is thinking 'wow... why would he be with her?' when they see us.
I hate Chub Rub! I would almost frame the first pair of pants that I have to toss not because of chub rub!
And the really big one- I don't want to feel like people cringe when they look at me in my work uniform... tucked in shirts, very unflattering colors, and white pocket liners that pop out and highlight my tummy :(
