i assure you i don't end up plurging up my food lol that sounds a total waste of good food. again, you're not a doctor nor a nutritionist so i don't think you're qualified to "diagnose" me with an eating disorder. my family doctor has never even suggested to me to gain weight or that i might possibly have an eating disorder, which i of course don't. i appreciate your concern for my well being, but think i'll take science over personal experience :/ i'd laugh if you think that 2000 kcal is right for everyone to maintain a healthy weight. there's a very tedious series of calculations that you need to make to determine your maintenance caloric intake.

sigh, what part of healthy weight do you not understand. i don't have an eating disorder. just because i don't stuff my face with food and end up nearly overweight doesn't mean i have an eating disorder >_______> i assure you, i don't look like skin and bones (small framed). i've seen anorexic people, i don't look anything close to anorexic lol and fyi eating disorder is a bmi of 17.5 or lower. i'm not even underweight which is 18.4 or lower. this is what happens when most of north america  have a bmi that's borderline overweight (24.9); anyone who has a lower end bmi is considered anorexic. also i hope you realize that the caloric intake you think you've had is usually an underestimate of your actual caloric intake. so if you are currently eating 1500 kcals, there's a good chance that you are actually eating something closer to 2000 kcals (source: my 2nd year nutrition prof).

dansmum99- lol i think you misunderstood. i don't think going over 1000 kcals make me sick to my stomach, i know. if i eat too much i get a stomach ache, just generally feeling really uncomfortable and bloated. i'm a picky eater so if it's stuff i don't like i eat 800 kcal, but if i absolutely love the food then i might end up going over 2000 kcal. no i'm not starving myself, i'm still at a HEALTHY weight. still get my daily soda (coke classic which is 150 kcal). it's just that when i have salad i don't put any salad dressing on it, it tastes disgusting, nor do i eat much cheese. hence lowered caloric intake. as for caloric restriction and longevity and overall improved health you can check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie_restrict ion . i don't restrict my calories b/c of this lol i just don't eat until i feel sick. how can i be starving myself when i eat when i get hungry? oh yeah, i don't eat chips, cookies, and whatever else you guys eat for snacks :/ don't like the taste of those.

You're starving yourself :(

1,000? absolutely you're starving yourself, just so you can be the absolute minimum for health.... Yup, I agree with Adrienne, it's very sad...

nah i eat a lot, but it just so happens that the stuff i eat are nutrient dense and less calorie dense :/ if i eat more than that my stomach really kills me. don't eat a lot of junk food, okay very rarely, so that has something to do with my low caloric intake >______>

Yes, but you need calories, period.  1000 calories full of vitamins, protein supplements, etc. is still starvation.

I don't eat junk food either.  I eat nutrient-dense food.  But it is possible to eat healthy food that's also calorie-dense.  Avocados, nut butters, nuts, coconut, olive oil, flax seeds, etc.  Stop making excuses.

sry, i rather not feel sick to my stomach after overeating. i get my fair share of olive oil, not so much avocado since i don't like the taste of it much. coconut is not that healthy, it's packed with saturated fat. have fun clogging up your arteries if you think coconut and coconut oil is healthy.

Weight Loss Girls in their early 20's! Jun 27 2011

hi,

i'm 22 and graduated 2 weeks ago from university. will be attending professional school in september. while i'm not trying to lose weight, i'm having a bit of a problem maintaining. my weight dips below my goal then i end up overeating to gain it all back x.x

5'7"

SW: 125

CW: 116 - 118

GW: 118

somewhat curvy (36-24-36)

Weight Loss Getting the "you look thin" and "are you eating?" comments.. really upsetting. Jun 27 2011

Original Post by puddykat:

Plutonium you are getting those comments because you are eating less 900 calories a day and already slim and aiming to get to a BMI of 18.5.

i kind of find it hard to eat more than 900. the day before i pigged out on junk food for an entire day and woke up 116 lbs (bmi 18.2 x.x underweight...no worries, i got it back up to 18.5). the reason of me not eating that much is cause i don't really ever feel hungry eating ~900 kcals a day. there have also been studies i think of animals that are constantly being starved having a longer lifespan, dunno if it applies to humans lol so it's all good.

OP: thx <3 i get some not so nice comments sometimes as well. but you can tell that you look better at a lower healthy bmi by keeping an eye out on the number of guys staring at you on the subway lol when i was 127lbs i didn't get nearly as much attention as i do at my current weight (random guy walked up to me asking for my email the other day oO" weird). so don't get depressed if someone tells you you look underweight/unhealthy at what you consider a healthy weight, most people would agree that you look more attractive now :P

congratz on losing so much :P i'm 5'7 and 118 lbs so i get these sorta comments all the time. it's like "wow you lost weight (i was 127 lbs before)" or "you look so thin." i take these comments as compliments so don't really see a problem with these people commenting on my weight loss. you're at a perfectly healthy weight, don't gain weight just for those people who are jealous.

i guess my boobs don't change much. lol when i was 127 lbs i was a 32DD. now at 118 lbs i'm a 30E. so i guess my boobs don't change much? my hips don't change too much either, always been 36 inches in the hips. it's really only my waist measurement that go down when i lose weight, 26 inches at 127lbs and 24 inches at 118lbs.

i'm 5'7" 116 lbs, yeah it's kinda underweight now. i was 120 lbs for the longest time. tried forever to get to 118 lbs. the last few days b/c it's been so hot i had a LOT of iced stuff. next thing i knew i was 118 lbs. then i had a day of living off of junk food x.x i went down to 116 lbs. try drinking something cold? maybe it'll work? this is from experience lol i've never heard of this in my studies.

your measurements sounds great, but you should really be focused on recovering from your ED. i can't base whether you're at a healthy weight on bmi calculators b/c it seems you're not yet over 20. don't try to lose more weight and have a relapse of your ED.

i find that if you look at the scale each morning it encourages you to keep trying to lose weight. if you find that you've gained weight, it'll motivate you to work extra hard to work off those extra pounds. just a few days ago i found myself 2lbs heavier. i went on an exercise spree, and by the next morning the 2 lbs were gone.

Weight Loss 5'7 Women....What's Your Goal Weight? Jun 08 2011

i'm 5'7" on the dot and currently weighs 119-120 lbs. goal is to get it down one more pound and keep it there. 2 years ago i was 137 lbs. after going on vacation for 3 weeks, i lost 10 lbs while i was in china. then the weight just came off a bit more after getting back to canada until it hit ~120lbs. since then i've plateaued at 120 lbs. so yeah, 118 lbs still healthy and it goes well with my smallish frame.

Weight Loss Should I tell my friend her Trainer/"diet coach" is full of it Jun 07 2011

definitely tell her that it's bogus. i have a bachelor in nutritional sciences. everything is broken down into glucose eventually? wtf no. only when you're absolutely starving yourself will you convert amino acids (ie. proteins) into glucose through gluconeogenesis. not to mention there are amino acids that your body CAN'T make. you need those essential amino acids and also those essential fatty acids as well. what a total load of bull. to be healthy, you shouldn't be losing more than 2lbs per week if i remember correctly. point her to some real literature about nutrition and weight loss.

edit: muscles isn't the only place where proteins are needed. everything your body does depends on proteins. you smell things b/c there's a receptor in your nose made of proteins for that smell. you touch things and feel texture and temperature b/c there are thermoreceptors and proprioceptors in your finger tips. Same goes for hearing and seeing and much more. point is you need amino acids ie. protein intake.

you have had an early introduction to the phenomenon that all women experience when their friend asks them to be a bridesmaid:  you have to order a dress about 10 sizes bigger than the ones in your closet.  No idea why that industry cuts dresses like that, but nobody will ever see the label but you.

If you look rockin' in that size 8 - buy it!

ic so it's normal for dress sizes to be a lot bigger than say your pants. how weird. thx kotov_syndrome & the rest of you who aren't haters ;)

edit: forgot to mention that my friend who is 4 or 5 lbs lighter than me and just about the same height (2 cm shorter) was a size 4. so i don't know how i ended up 4 sizes bigger than her.

Was it the EXACT same dress in a different size that your friend was wearing? Because its not just different designers and different dress styles, but different fabrics. Most dresses with sequins over the chest or hips fit tighter than other dresses. Dresses made of polyester without much spandex content fit tighter than other dresses. And on, and on...

yup, it was EXACTLY the same. so i don't what's going on. same dress, same store, we tried it on the same day lol

Sorry but I have to agree with the other responses here. It's utterly insensitive to come on and bleat about being fat and a size 8 when you know all too well how some of us are struggling. It seems to me you just want attention. I am sorry but I for one am not going to pander to your vanity by telling you what you already know.

actually i don't know what size you guys are. like i said, i've never wore any dresses, never bought any, never owned any. so i have not a clue what sizes you people are.

this thread is kinda about what size i am not you? so if you feel insulted, doesn't that suggest that you're sorta insecure about your own weight? i didn't ask other people for their sizes. i asked WHY i would have a size 8 when everything else i own is a small/extra small & size 2 or 4.

thx for all the positive replies and for those of you who feels insulted, that wasn't i intent. personally, i've never bought/owned a single dress so i have no idea how it's sized. compared to my other clothes, size 8 did sound a lot bigger. and i never did say i considered myself as fat. it's the size that makes me sound fat; hence, the confusion.

edit: forgot to mention that my friend who is 4 or 5 lbs lighter than me and just about the same height (2 cm shorter) was a size 4. so i don't know how i ended up 4 sizes bigger than her.

thx for replying. i'm asian so you know how asians' bone structures are like. it's tiny. my bmi in my ethnic group is actually just about average :( in fact, a lot of my friends are underweight, not that i wanna be underweight, but bmi 18.5 sounds just about good. i wanna know if the average dress size is smaller than an 8 b/c googling it apparently size 10 would be a plus size. this means i'm borderline plus size >.>
