With the choc Easter eggs kicking around, it's just too easy to see one lying on the floor and I've got to pick it up... since I've made the effort to pick it up, I might as well eat it (it's just one egg, right?). Now do 2 sets of 5 reps.

Am I the only one?

Jenn, I know where you're coming from- been there!! My latest downfall is those Quaker rice cracker things, the tortilla sour cream and salsa flavor- they taste just like chips and when I sit down with the bag (mistake #1) with every one I eat I say in my head "well, it's only 60 cals for 8 of them". The next thing I know I've eaten the whole shebang and it cost me 420 cals. Yikes!

Yesterday I didn't stick exactly to my food plan...I tossed in a few extras while watching a movie last night. Poutine and loaded nachos. Not good! I take a little bit of consolation knowing that I worked off 800 cals on my bike though.

B- honey nut Cheerios, 1% milk, flaxseed

L- apple, 1 C homemade chili, 15 tortilla chips

Snacks- fat free pudding, apple with PB, mandarin orange

Supper- ww pasta, veggies, beef strips

It's snowing here again- it's says only 2-4 cms but the sky has that look- the one that says "I could do this alllll day"

I didn't do my core workout yesterday, so I'm going to go do that right now before my get up and go gets up and leaves.

I try to make sure that I eat my BMR  daily, and I zigzag my cal intake so my body doesn't think it's starving. For me it's slow going but I don't have a whole lot to take off which may play a part as well. Any exercise that I do in the course of the day I just count as a bonus (I don't deduct it)

Good luck!

just curious, how would you guys describe a salad that you top with chicken salad (instead of just chicken)?
is that called a chicken salad salad or what?

haha!! funny!

And about the cookies- I'll keep one box on the top cupboard shelf, but the rest are going in the attic! We have this thing about buying bulk...one time Walmart had Lays on for $1 (reg. $2.50) a bag and we bought about 30 bags!! lol (and I wonder how I put the weight on...)

Cesty, polygamy is allowed, nay, encouraged, with food.

haha, that's funny!!

What I wouldn't give for a toasted PB and bacon sandwich right now...

On a related note, I tried PB on apple slices today...not bad I guess.

Wow, I can't even imagine life without "free" medical care!

I am Canadian and have lived here my whole life. We complain a lot about the high tax rate, but when I read these stories it makes me appreciate my health coverage all the more. What isn't covered by our gov't is covered by health insurance through my husband's work (he works for a home improvement chain).

Quick story- last month I went to have my teeth cleaned and when I went to pay the bill ($300), they said I didn't owe anything because they direct billed the ins. comp, and we had 100% coverage. Which is good because I have to go back to the hygenist again next month and both my son and I have dentist appts as well in the coming month (I have a few cavities and need some orthondontic work repaired) Without my husbands insurance, there's no way we could afford it!

In the past few months I have been to specialists as well ( allergy specialist and ear/nose/throat Drs.). There is no out of pocket payment, but the wait can be ridiculous. I once waited a year before getting an appt to a specialist whom I was referred to by my GP. Some Canadians are dying waiting to get an appt or surgery date because there is no (or very little) privatized health care.

What an eye opener this thread is!

How are you all measuring your hips? From pants side seam to seam, or hip bone to bone?

opalaurora, I'd say you did pretty good for being away and weighing in the evening! I try never to weigh myself in the evening because I tend to gain 3-4pds during the day!

Yesterday was not a good day, I didn't have any structured meals and snacked on the Easter candy that was abundant, today however, will be different.

B- shreddies, 1% milk, flaxseed

L- chicken sandwich on multigrain with a side salad and pickles

Snacks- apple, mandarin

Supper- mixed veggies, chicken, maybe some wholegrain rice

Exercise- haven't done it yet, but I'm going to do my core exercises and work off 300 cals on the bike today.

On a side note- my husband and I love finding good buys, and have a hard time passing them up. Case in point- last night he brought home 9 boxes of Chips Ahoy cookies because he got them on sale for 50 cents a box. I was like "hmmm...thats a great deal dear..." They're sitting there in the bags still, tempting and tormenting me. I've got to get them out of sight!! lol

That's a good idea; i might have to. I used to LOVE those things.... when I was 4 years younger and 70 pounds heavier. Hm, coincidence?!

Now that you mention...last summer before I put 15 pounds on, I would go out to McDonalds and instead of having food, I would have a McFlurry, at least one of those (or a blizzard) per week. I'm starting to think that maybe there is a direct correlation between those and weight gain...:P

Haha! I was thinking the DQ version as well. There was a commercial on the other night featuring Kit Kat ones. Just for fun I looked up how many calories there are in a regular....800!!

rm, grab a couple of good friends and split one! That way you can get a taste without all of the cals!

I'm in Eastern Canada, over 12' of snowfall so far, the radio just said that flurries are on the way....the thaw will be messy messy messy this year.

my armpit to my finger tip is 25".

Is it true that if you stretch your arms out to your sides and measure from finger tip to finger tip, that that is your height? My husband claims it's true, but I've never tried it before...

theashster, yeah, I've got some stretch marks, not on my stomach area, but on my inner and outer thighs (the thin spidery kind). And they blend in - mostly- with my natural skin color (I'm quite pale). And I wear bikinis, at least, I did last summer before I gained 15 pds. To my way of thinking, if you have the confidence to wear a bikini, wear it proudly and feel good about yourself!! I don't even think about the stretch marks.

Mind you, I almost never wear a bikini around people I know...it's easier to be self assured when you know that the people around you will never likely see you again!

I say go for it!!! You worked hard to lose those pounds! Show it off! :)

You know the saying "do as I say, not as I do"? Well, that about sums it up!! Within arms reach I have bday cake, homemade cookies, chips, pop, and Easter chocolate. I can ignore the pop, cake and chocolate, but the cookies and chips are my Achilles heel, so I've got to get the away from me. The only thing saving me from them at the moment is I just took some medication that requires me to not eat anything for 2 hours before or after taking it.

I'm glad that there are no other "eating holidays" coming up again anytime soon!

Hi ladies, I'm another SAHM (although I do work one day a week, just for my own sanity- anything to talk to other grown ups!)

I have 3 kids, 11, 5, 3 1/2. I lost all of my baby weight thanks to nursing (yay for that!!), but have recently begun to put on weight. Not too much, just an extra 10 pounds, but I want to put the kibbosh to it before it gets even higher and then harder to get off. I can definitely relate to those moms who finish the food on their kids plates rather than throw it out, but I have cut that out for the most part.

I struggle with baking- I want to make sweets and treats for my husband and kids, but I'm the one who gets into them the most so they go without a lot (I tell myself they're better off without all the cookies and squares anyways)

Oh, my stats- 32 yrs/o, 5'6", SW- 126, CW- 123.4, GW- 110-115

Good luck to you all!!

Don't even ask me how that happened, I was dreading the weigh in this morning because I didn't exercise or eat well yesterday. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I guess!

I didn't start the day really great either (I had some easter eggs and a cookie to go along with my cereal), but today I get back on track! Again!

Has your fiance seen your dress Jenn?

Today is not going to be a good counting day for me, I started off the morning with breakfast at my church (3 slices of bacon, 1 piece of toast, 1 pancake, 1 cup of OJ, 2 cups of coffee), came home and had 2 cookies and some rice chips, and I'm heading off for a family meal. When we get back home Easter egg hunt time.

Here's hoping the scales will be nice to me tomorrow! :)

Happy Easter!

It's a busy busy weekend here, but I am doing well sticking to my cal count. The last 2 days I didn't eat all I was supposed to, but I came close.

Exercise is the one thing that I need to make a point of doing- As long as I'm awake enough and have enough energy when I get home tonight, I'll do my core exercise.

Today is my son's bday, and I made his cake and a batch of cookies last night. We'll be having ice cream to go with that cake as well not to mention the Easter egg hunt on for tomorrow- lots and lots of sugar abound, good luck to everyone this weekend! Eat with Monday in mind! :)
