I've seen Pink Lady and Cripps Pink apples at Jewel in Chicago. they are usually $1.99 a pound but they are on sale sometimes for lesser.

I like apples too but I usually have just one a day, two at the most.

I don't know this for sure, but looks like your metabolism is down because you recently quit smoking. Like someone mentioned above, try working out a few times a week to get your metabolism up. It's good to quit smoking even if it means a short term weight gain imo. You can always work out and get your weight back under control but you can't undo the damage caused by smoking, so pat yourself on the back for quitting the smoking thing and spank yourself on the back (just kidding :-P) to get yourself to a gym or out wherever you feel comfortable being active.

Good luck!

Use a fork and knife to eat your pizza...

I can vouch for this method. I used to eat many slices of pizza in one sitting, it used to take almost 4-5 slices to satisfy. But ever since I tried using a fork and knife, I am very happy with just 2 slices. I think using a fork and knife gives my stomach enough time to realize it's full.

When I do have pizza I go for pizza with meat toppings, just so the protein in the meat will help keep me full longer.

Enjoy your evening out. Like someone already said, one evening of a lil indulgence will not change anything.

I wouldn't be suprised if we've crossed each other's paths (without knowing it)...It's a small world :-)

val - I'll make it a point to look for laughing cow cheese the next time I go there. I shop midweek to beat the weekend rush...so it may take 2-3 days for me to report on what I've found..

I know that the Jewel-Osco off of Roosevelt has them

She's right. I've seen laughing cow cheese at this Jewel. I go there every week. It's a big store. It is at Roosevelt and State/Wabash.

Thanks for the link. Made for some interesting reading. Suprisingly that website does not seem to have any information about the Pacific Rose variety...or maybe it just skipped my attention. Very good reading nonetheless.

As an aside, I cannot seem to find any Sonya apples at jewel. Are Sonyas season specific?

Thanks

I finally tried that Jazz apple, and I have to say it was delicious, very crunchy and juicy. Looks like Jazz will be entering regular rotation from now on.

I purchased a Pacific Rose apple last night to try it (also purchased 3 cripps Pink) - will let ya know what I think of it.

Yup I've tried Cameo apples. I quite like them. They can be very crisp, look awesome (they are the best looking apples from my list) and the taste is quite sweet - not as sweet as a Gala, no tartness - like for example ..have you tried a Pink Lady/Cripps Pink apple? While Pink Ladys can be sweet, they also have a tinge of sourness, not much but just a pinch...not so with the Cameos, they are mildly sweet, very crisp, no tartness.

Try one :-)

Just an update - I tried Fuji and Golden Delicious over the weekend - not bad...but I think my favorites still are Gala, Cameo, Pink Lady/Cripps Pink and Red Delicious. I think Fuji and Golden Delicious come in behind those 4. I have a Jazz apple at home that I will try tonight.

Edy's slow churned ice cream! A lot of their flavors come in at 1680 calories for the entire tub. 1680 divided by 4 is 420. So basically if I had 420 calories to burn on ice cream I'd get Edy's Cookies n Cream and eat a fourth of the container.

It's not the best thing to eat, but it's fine once in a while.

I love the Morningstar Garden Veggie Patties® Veggie Burgers and the Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burgers. I also love the Boca flame grilled thing.

I usually use 2 patties of either Morningstar Garden Veggie Patties® Veggie Burgers or the Boca Flame Grilled and two helpings of fruit as breakfast, 2-3 days a week.

I dislike the Morningstar -Grillers® Prime Veggie Burgers and Grillers® Vegan patties. They just taste bad to me.

I guess more than just brands you need to try everything and go with what works...I have to say though, Boca is good because it gives you a lot of protein for fewer calories. The Boca Roasted Garlic is awesome for this.
