I understand how you feel, I lost alot of weight in one year and people constantly make comments about how thin I'm getting.   I feel like telling them to shut up and mind their own business, but I end up just smiling or making excuses or lying about my weight.

Only ONE person ever came up to me and said "Don't you hate it when people comment about your weight all the time?"  You look fine!

Weight Loss Can I still eat Mcdonalds and stuff like that if I count calories? Aug 21 2007

The reason why I don't eat McDonalds too often is that a Trio will use up alot of my calories allotted for the day and won't leave me much room to have a full breakfast or lunch, and I like to eat more than once a day.

You can try eating shrimp, turkey, cod, salmon, halibut, bison... all are lean meats.. seafood is especially great tasting and low in calorie and fat.

I would stick with low-fat meat and fish, but add other proteins like nuts and seeds with the "good" fats.

It seems like people here genuinely want to recover.  I've finally been to see my doctor last month and she prescribed Prozac to help me with my Bulimia (obsession with food, binging, purging).   I'm also starting group therapy next Wednesday at the local YMCA.

I don't know if any of you are in the same boat, but I'm not really starving myself.  I do eat, but I just don't eat enough to maintain my weight and I've been gradually losing more and more weight for months.   I'm terrified of gaining any weight, but I know that it's good for me!   I'm stuck in this terrible cycle of feeling guilty when I eat and feeling guilty when I don't!

Alot of you say that you were severely limiting your eating to below 500 cals a day... but I've never done that... is there anyone else out there in my situation?

I would go with Power 90 instead, it's a much better workout...especially with weight training.
Fitness how much do you eat after lifting? Jul 20 2007

You are supposed to be eating about 0.7 grams of protien per pound of bodyweight.  If you are lifiting you can increase that to about 1 gram of protein per pound.

Real bodybuilders drink milk!  It's THE BEST post-workout drink in existance, better than protein powders or anything man-made.  A big glass of non-fat milk, chocolate milk or yogurt based smoothie is all you need.  Don't bother with soy based products, since animal based protien like whey, is absorbed more slowly by your body and will repair your muscles instead of zipping through your digestive tract before it can do any work.

To me 60 grams in one shot isn't really doing anything since your body will not absorb most of it.  Aim for 5 to 10 grams max after your workout.
Maintaining please give your tips on maintaining? Jun 28 2007

The biggest change in my life has been to eat alot of healthy snacks during the day and smaller main meals.   I used to eat three meals a day, but I would end up getting so hungry that was why I would break down and end up going to McDonalds half the time.

Now I eat my maintenance calories but I spread them out during the day, if I'm hungrier in the morning I will eat more in the morning.  If Im' hungrier in the evening I will eat more in the evening but I always try to keep a good average.

It's been a difficult journey for me to maintain, I still obsess alot about food and calories, but the last few weeks have been easier for me since I've made the concious decision to eat for health, not for the scale.
Maintaining How many people actually use a scale to measure foods? Jun 28 2007

I use a digital scale all the time and measure out almost all of my food before eating it.

It doesn't take too much time and it's really useful when trying to measure out calorie-dense foods like ice-cream, nuts and starchy carbs.

I even measure things that already have partitioned serving sized listed on the package... because sometimes labels lie and you're eating way more than what is listed... pre-sliced cheese (not the processed kind) for instance is usually inacurate and you can end up consuming up to 1/2 times more cheese than what is listed and that could be adding alot of calories to your sandwich.

I find that the only way I can get through my day without being terribly hungry is by eating every two to three hours.  I snack constantly, but my total daily calories never exceeds my maintenance.

I also have the problem of consuming the bulk of my calories after 6 p.m  I'm just hungrier at night.. I think it's cause I'm more bored than anything.

Pot can be beneficial to your health if you are responsible with it, which clearly you aren't.

Yes, pot increases your appetite, so if you're trying to maintain a healthy weight, don't smoke it.

I heard that bananas are one of the best pre-workout snacks because they have enough energy and potassium to sustain a 90 minute workout.

Afterwards I would go for a 300 calorie breakfast, that includes protein, dairy, and carbs... so something like one egg white with one whole egg two slices of tomato on two pieces of toast with a small yogurt or cheese.

This would give you roughly 400 calories for the morning and hopefully sustain you until snack time.  It's good to eat around your workouts because more of the energy from your food will be used up instead of stored.

I've had migraines since I was eight years old and since I've started eating healthier they have very much diminished.  My doctor says it could be because I am eating alot less sugar and refined carbs.

I also have pills called Amerge that I take when it's really bad, sometimes excess sunshine on my unprotected head can cause me to have a severe migraine.

It's virtually impossible to tone specific parts of the body without losing the weight first.  Somehow I think that facial fat and bone structure has more to do with genetics than anything else.

My hubby has chubby cheeks and a double chin and he's lost 50 pounds and now weighs 177lbs from 230lbs and although his face is slimmer, there are still larger guys out there that LOOK thinner because they have a stronger jawline.
