Motivation Ladies in their late 20's with 5-15 pounds to lose... Apr 27 2011

Skinnyshobster - well done on the loss! Make sure that you keep up the good work! I can't weigh myself until Friday as that is the only time that I have access to a pair of scales! I'm a bit nervous though as I feel as though I have been eating more than usual.

I tried the whole running slow thing last year and still couldn't do it. My lungs just felt as though they were on fire and and I'd get a stitch as well. It's really strange as I am fine when doing any other type of exercise!

Today is going ok for me - bought lots of fruit and veg yesterday so I have lots of healthy snacks to nibble on. Going to try and fit in a turbo jam workout today as I haven't really exercised in the past couple of days.

Where is everyone else??!!

Wow, I can't believe how fit you guys are...I can't run to save my life! My workouts are high intensity but short - only 25-30 minutes.

Yesterday went ok for me. Went round to my parents house and made sure that I stuck to my plan. My mum bought me an easter egg and I did have some of it but otherwise I was good!! Well done on resisting the treats as well Bellavita.

Back on plan today and feel good. Off to another turbo jam workout in a bit. Good luck with Zumba class gymratatheart!

How did everyone do yesterday??

I did ok - stuck to three main meals and a couple of snacks. I made sure that lunch was my biggest meal of the day (usually it's dinner) and actually felt really good about it! I didn't end up going to bed all bloated and woke up today hungry for breakfast for a change!! I also managed to do a Turbo Jam workout!

Claire - today is going to be slightly harder as I'm seeing my family for lunch but my trick is to fill up most of my plate with steamed veg and have a small portion of whatevers been cooked. Hopefully I can do that today!

Bellavita - nice to see another person with similar stats! Hopefully we can all spur each other on!

Happy Easter everyone. Hope u all have a nice day x

gymratatheart - I can't believe how similar we are either! Hopefully we can spur each other on! I lost the weight the first time round just by being very disciplined and eating very clean and also working out 5 times a week. I never counted calories but watched my portion sizes. It was much easier then though because I lived alone and quite far away from my family (who are very big eaters!). Now still live alone but have moved closer to my family and I see them several times a week and end up eating what they eat! Not good. I was also quite ill last summer and was put on medication which made me gain almost 6 pounds overnight. I'm off the meds now, thank god.

accar - I spend most of my weekends with my friends but I'm going to try very hard this weekend to stay focused and to stay away from the bad stuff! Good luck to u!

run4eva - workout-wise I just walk at the moment but I want to get back to doing intensive workouts like I did last year. I'm going to do Turbo Jam today and see how it goes. It might be a little bit too much for me given that I haven't done a heavy workout in ages. Unfortunately I haven't got an excuse for not working out - I'm just lazy!

Count me in!

Age: 27

Height: 5'0"

SW: 113

GW: 100

This time last year I was 100lbs and have slowly gained the weight coz of various medical reasons and plus stress of moving. Really need to lose the extra pounds as none of my clothes fit at the mo and it's really affecting my self confidence.

My biggest downfall is the weekends. During the week I'll eat really healthily, plenty of fruit and veg but then the weekend will come along and the sweets n drinks will come out!!

I eat rice at least five times a week.  I also measure it in one cup servings.
Everything in moderation.

^^Same.

My family eat rice almost every single day but I tend to fill half my plate with vegetables and then add 3 or 4 tablespoons of rice on top. That way i dont miss out or feel deprived.

My family are very much like this - especially my brother. I once mentioned to him that I had a stomach bug and he accused me of taking laxatives. I've never taken laxatives in my life. I just happen to be the healthier one in my family and am conscious of what I eat but my family never see that as good thing and constantly mock me because to them fruit and vegetables are the devils food.

EDIT: Are there any other ladies out there who like that their boobs are small?

***raises hand***

Me too! Although bra shopping is a tiring task!

I would consider myself somewhat of a beauty addict...

I use Dior and Chanel creams and makeup because I tend to find that they last longer. My morning beauty routine takes around 20 mins...

I use hair extensions and false eyelashes when going out. My hair is naturally long but I like the way extensions adds extra thickness.

I'm currently looking into laser treatment / face peel to get rid of the freckles that I've always hated.

Never fainted but I used to suffer from a LOT of blackouts when I was younger. I used to suddenly get all hot and light-headed and then everything would turn black for a few minutes but I was very aware of where I was. It was seriously scary but suprising my family never took it seriously therefore to this day I have never seen a doctor about it and it remains undiagnosed :/

I stopped getting them when I turned 14, thank God.

Weight Loss Were you raised on a healthy diet? Feb 06 2011

Yes and no. Yes, in the sense that my family ate home cooked meals everyday (we rarely ever ate out) but no because it was all the snacks that made me fat. We had cupboards full of crisps, sweets and all sorts of junk which only managed to stick to my body upon consumption whilst my siblings never gained a pound!

Foods Asian diets? Feb 03 2011

I'm asian and agree that rice is the main focus of the meal and anything else accompanying the rice tends to be eaten in moderation. For example, I met my family for dinner today and as per usual my mum went all out with the cooking and served up 2 types of fish curry, a meat curry, a chicken curry and a vegetable dish of chickpeas and tomato. Everyone filled their (small) plates with rice and then added 1 or 2 tablespoons of curry on the side. People normally help themselves to two types of curry (e.g. the chicken & veg) during the course of dinner and I rarely ever see people completely filling their plates or even going back for seconds.

My family originate from Bangladesh and today we all had dinner together. When we have a family get together, like the one we had today, my mum will go all out and cook ever single traditional dish that she knows. We had 2 types of fish curry, a meat curry, a chicken curry and a vegetable dish of chickpeas and tomato. This is accompanied by lots and lots of rice!

You envy those who are lucky enough to still be able to buy Lucky Charms.. (BRING THEM BACK!)

You can still buy boxes of Lucky Charms in Selfridges in the Food Hall. Just be prepared to offer your right arm as payment for them.

Weight Loss How to stop night eating?! It's killing me. Nov 11 2010

I know how you feel, because I recently went through the same thing. I started a new job which requires an early start (7am). I'm not particularly a breakfast person so when i first started my job, I would skip breakfast and often skip lunch as well because I was just so busy during the day. I felt fine because I was never hungry during the day and also eating too much too early made me feel sick. However, just like you, I started noticing that I began to overeat in the evenings. When i got home I was just far to tired to make proper food and therefore I would just eat a load of junk.

Once I realised the problem, I immediately set to work on rectifying it. Even though I still have no appetite in the morning, I make sure that I eat a good breakfast and a good lunch and voila, my night time snack-urges have disappeared!!

I know that this doesn't always work for everyone but I have discovered that I my body needs routine and this includes set proper meals and snacks.

Yesterday I let myself down a little. For some reason, after dinner, i felt like having chocolate and had a kit kat. Then I craved more chocolate through the night and eventually i gave in at 10pm and had some more. It wasn't a binge but it could have led ot one if i wasn't careful. I guess the chocolate cravings were from the fact that it is my TOM.

I don't think that you let yourself down... It sounds like you were in control of that craving!

This 'no-binging' thing doesn't mean that we can't enjoy a treat every now and again.  It's being able to stop after without that 'all or nothing' mentality (("Oh no, I just had a cookie, may as well eat the rest of the bag, and three PB+Nutella sandwiches, and whatever else I can get my mitts on")) that is real important. No foods are 'good' or 'bad' and shouldn't be off limit (as restriction just leads us back to binge eating)... just moderated.  o3o

Sorry Sulfry, should have been more clear on my post...I was annoyed because I'd just had a satisfying meal and was full. I really didn't need to eat the chocolate bar straight away (I tend to follow the rule of eating only when hungry) and after I had consumed the choc bar, for some reason, it sent me into overdrive and wanting more sugar!

I absoluteley insist on having one treat a day (life just wouldn't be fun without them!) but only when I am hungry and I also tend to save them for the evening so that I don't feel deprived!

Anyway, hope that you all are doing ok. I attended a couple of birthday parties over the weekend so kept myself nice and busy!

I was really unmotivated for a good couple of months so I know exactly how you feel. I had a lot of changes in my personal life which made me just want to come home everyday and do nothing all evening.

On Saturday, I thought to myself that enough was enough and I HAD to do some exercise no matter what! I put on one of my turbo jam dvds and really had to push myself to get up and do the exercise. I did it half heartedly and resented every minute BUT I found myself feeling that little bit more motivated and I ate better that day. The next day my stomach was a little bit flatter (I'd been feeling so bloated before that) and it encouraged me to continue exercising.

I think that you need to bite the bullet as well and get back into the routine. Once you take that first step, the rest will be easy.

Welcome aboard Elchert09!

Kurichan - I also used to live with my boyfriend but since we broke up, I have moved towns and now live alone in a town where I don't really know anyone. Hopefully we can break this habit together!!

Yesterday was my fourth binge-free day!! I went out for dinner with a few friends and, yes, we had a lot to eat but it did not trigger a binge! Previously I would have just thrown in the towel and eaten the house down! Sooo proud of myself.

Today is going well. Got another busy on so hopefully I'll keep my mind off any "cravings".

I've tried herbal teas and am still looking round for a decent one. At the moment I'm trying Oolong tea which is ok but I think that part of the problem is that I'm a hard-core coffee drinker and anything else just doesn't compare!!

I literally eat every couple of hours and a decent amount as well (I don't count calories anymore so I don't know the exact figure).

I know that it's just boredom. I live alone and I hate it. The evenings are endless and without anyone to talk to, I turn to food. Once I mess up, i simply cannot stop. Sigh.

Anyway yesterday went ok. I stuck to eating well and did a workout in the evening. Then the craving monster came along but I ignored it (even though it was VERY hard)!!

I'm hoping today will be ok. I'm going out for dinner tonight so it'll be a challenge but I am preparing myself!!

Ok yesterday went well. Kept myself busy the majority of the time but then found some time to spare in the night. That's when the cravings kicked in...but i resisted! I had an extra 100 kcal snack at night but then stopped. Realised that if I carried on then I would simply beat myself up later on! It was hard though and I'm guessing that the rest of this week is going to be just as hard (if not harder) :(
