Weight Loss How long after cardio should you wait to eat? Mar 31 2008

Phew....good.  I was expecting the opposite response, LOL.  I wasn't *starving* or anything after I worked out and I had homemade chicken noodle soup planned for lunch anyway...so I went ahead and ate it.

Another quick ?: So, if it is good to eat protein after working out (cardio or strength training)...does it make it "bad" to eat carbs?

So I just found out about these today...someone recommended.  I plan on getting some tomorrow at the Heath Food Store....I *really* want to like them, LOL.  I'm nervous already about the texture, LOL.   What about mixing them with a little regular pasta? Would that be gross?

You guys are awesome!  Thanks for all the ideas...keep them coming!

Okay...so I just got back from the grocery store and since I live in the sticks they do not carry diet bread...which is probably why I've never heard of it, LOL...and the fact that I thought that "Diet Bread" was a brand, LOL.  Now I'm straightened out. :)

I'm feeling like this is really going to work.  Today I had a big green salad with 6 slices of Hormel Shaved Virgina Brand Ham (50 cals), 1/2 slice of provalone cheese (50 cals) and ranch dressing (110) cals...so right around 300 TOTAL...go me!

I just made some homeade ranch dressing which is pretty good and only around 10 cals per Tablespoon. (blend 1 cup lowfat cottage cheese 1 cup lowfat buttermilk, 2.5 teaspoons buttermilk ranch mix, 1/4, teaspoon ground pepper, 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/8 teaspoon paprika).  I used to make it in college all the time and forgot about it....I sometimes also add a little mayo (upps the cals though, but tastes more Ranch-y).

I also got the ingredents for the "pizza bagles" minus the bagle...again, I live in the sticks so I had to sub whole wheat English muffins.  I also got most of the ingredients for the "mandarin chicken salad"...I'm going to experiment with the dressing and try adding a bit of honey mustard.  I already have lauging cow cheeses...yum...never thought of making an alfredo-type dish with them. Thanks for all the ideas :)

THANKS AGAIN CALORIE GROUPIES!!!!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I'm new to all of this "calorie deficit" business....I admit I'd never heard of it before I came here.  I found a great article that explains why it is important to healthy weightloss...it reflects a lot of the advice you all have given:

If anyone is interested here is the link:

So, I'm still fine-tuning "the plan".  I'm sure I'll have more ?'s thanks again!

I'm still a little confused...Do I need to replace (eat) any calories I burn by working out to meet my daily a total.  For example if my goal is 1500 and I eat 1500 but burn 300 in a workout...would I need to replace those cals to maintain a healthy weightloss rate?????

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

I eat 2 Kashi blueberry waffles (they aren't sweet). I eat them with spray butter and 3 Jimmy Dean pre-cooked Turkey sausage links.  I bought them both at Costco so I don't have the (huge, LOL) packages any more...but the total calories for the waffels and sausages is 290-300ish and lots of protein and fiber.  It keeps me full for hours!

Here is a link to the sausage nutritional info:
