I saw this on George Takei's facebook page...

I get that it's her faith that doesn't allow her to cut her hair/etc, but I just can't get past the facial hair. She's brave for not giving a crap about what people say.  Maybe I am just baffled by all the hair on her face because we are not used to seeing that type of thing here in the US. I know some women have issues with having facial hair (who don't want it) and seeing this almost makes me think she is trying to get attention... or something.

Not sure. I will probably get flamed for my comments, but it's just my opinion.

all of us can only ever speak from our experiences.

it's jarring to me as well.  and as much as i hate to admit it about myself, while is wouldn't take a picture and post it and be a douche and make fun of her, i would imagine i would have gone home and told my friends about the 'strange' thing i saw today.

i don't think it's attention, i think it really is her faithfulness. i suppose i don't have that much faith in anything where i would willingly give up at least attempting to conform to beauty standards.

i almost compared it loosely to certain types of Christianity that force women to only wear modest clothes and no pants, but on second thought, i think that just plain irks me because its oppressive.

thanks for this. i wouldn't have taken her photo, either, but I definitely would have done a double-take, sadly. Not proud to admit that, but oh well, there it is.

If it is her faith, then good for her. I don't know why it struck me as an attention-getter situation. My first thought was something along the lines of, if you can have a smartphone, you can shave your face. I get they aren't comparable in any way, but that was my first reaction.

I made a ton of friends at the gym (these friends being people I actually talk to / hang out with outside of the place). We take a lot of the same group fitness classes and just got to talking. Then, thanks to facebook for being the ice breaker, started hanging out outside the gym :)

I can understand the pay thing.  After they find him guilty they'll fine/garnish him.  What I don't understand is that the people that he shot officially suffered from a "workplace accident" instead of enemy combat/terrorist action.  No purple heart, no pay bump, no disability.

Man, did the US military always hate it's wounded?

I'm with you.  I am actually appalled that this wasn't called a terrorist attack.  Utter nonsense.

Same, here... but are you really surprised at this point? -____-

Choke chains and training collars make pulling somewhat uncomfortable, reducing the fun of pulling. Some more powerfully built dogs won't care.

Spend enough time targeting kids who sound like they have an ED, and someone is going to say enough is enough.

eta: although she did promise to keep coming back, so your girlfriend will come back for you, like Daniel Dey Louis, in Last of the Mohicans, Kev. No worries.
