this times a million. this is why our shelter does "foster to adopt" most of the time. it gives the potential adopter a window where they can decide it isn't a good fit without going through the full adoption. matches don't work out for a lot of reasons, and it happens a lot. we never hold a grudge against someone who decides it isn't a good fit.

Thirded the it's ok to know she needs a different fit than what you can give her.

It's not a reflection on you, you're doing every due diligence to make sure she's looked after.  If that's not enough for her (and you) it's ok to say, she needs to go somewhere else that will better suit her.
