Would love to jump back on the wagon with your plan. Actually this date is significant for me since it might be the day I head to the US for my grad school which starts this summer ( God willing ) Best of luck to you all

It usually works this way. But as you said it is a very gradual process and if you increase your level of activity and build more muscle mass as you lose more, it will be easy to maintain a decent loss on the same amount of calories. 1800 is certainly not extremely low for a male of your size but you probably shouldn't go lower until you have lost a significant amount of weight to maintain a proper level of nutrition and energy to carry on |

like everyone said , we need more data. But what I can understand that you probably had a gastric bypass or some sort of drastic operation and 98 lbs is just a part of a long journey . The problem here in most cases -including myself though it was only liposuction- is that you haven't dealt with the emotional part of the problem or the food addiction. Craving sweets has many remedies but I think you should deal with the real issues at first. My practical advice would be a real balanced diet with high fiber and enough fat. proteins can help with satiety but you also need fillers. Also craving sweets can be dealt with through substitutions. Try to invent different desserts with more healthier options and then you can add a little bit of your "drug of choice" without feeling guilty. Also try to decrease artificial sweeteners and sodas ,they can have a counterproductive effect though they are calorie free wish I could help more good luck

spring scales - or dial- are known for their lack of reliability, which means exactly what you describe , different results under same conditions . The best way is to measure once per day - thus avoid the effect of repeated strain on the spring -and really it is about trends over time more than the actual measurement though believe me I know how these numbers can frustrate us . another option is to invest in a digital quality scale good luck on your journey |

I would really like to thank those who took the time to respond to my rather depressing post. I really appreciate all the valuble advices you wrote. to make up for my depressed rambling last time I am happy to say that the minute I posted this topic it finally hit me that it was really silly winning about everything when am the one to blame so I decided to start right there at exactly 3:13 pm , I took a new scale- digital one measuring fat that I got as a present from daddy as a hint to lose weight i guess and didnt even bother to get out of the package go figure- I found that I was actually 217 so it is really square one with 51.3% fat I know it is not accurate but still to frightening since 32% is considered dangerous. any way to cut to the chase , I stopped snaking and binging right then and started counting cals religiously as I once did . this is an accomplishment for me since for the last 10 months at least it was almost impossible to commit myself to it . it has been only 2 days but I already feel different and motivated and I decided am in for the long run and I think my goals are ambitious but doable . I really love this site and this community and I owe it a lot though I gained the weight back since it was me who deliberartly quit it last time. Just crossing my fingers that this will last for good since I fully understand that this is a lifestyle change. |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
