Yes, i find this the same, I get up early and get ready for work, even make my lunch in the morning to make sure its nice and fresh but usually won't eat anything until lunch, just a couple of cups of green tea, I thought it was something to do with waking up your metabalism but I don't think it matters, I find I eat more in the evening so its always nice to have the extra calories for that instead of technically wasting them earlier in the day by force feeding myself- probably why I'm not hungry in the morning if I'm eating most of my calories at night though ;) |

I'm Vegan with a ridiculously busy job so I'm always looking for quick snacks on the go. I just love making organic humous for dips with raw carrots, apple slices, mini corn cobs or even pea pods.
Its a real easy recipe to make; All you need is a can of chickpeas, 1/4 of the cans water, 2 crushed cloves of garlic, 4-5 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 1/2 tablespoons of tahini(seasame seed paste) then I usually add chilli, corriander, lemon, red bell peppers, tomatoes or jalapenos for different taste, sweet chilli is lovely in it too.!!
Its great to mix in with veggies or on rye crackers.
Guacamole is another great one for a dip, add extra chilli for extra spice:)
The raw veggies stop you craving salty foods too and if your craving sweet, ensure you have a few nuts at hand for your good fat craving:) |

Its a chance for us to celebrate our flag and our identity, to get friends and family together and go to the parades, have dinner and chats, Its I suppose like our 4th of July but it would rise a lot of trouble in Ireland if we celebrated our liberation day and the day we signed the treaty so this day is better to celebrate together peacefully. Its great craic!!! Craic means craziness or fun in Irish:) |

Hey hey - de best of luck - you can def do it- This time last year I couldn't run to the corner of the block - it was horrible- but every day I kept going and aimed at passing the medical for the military In May I completed a ten mile race - something I thought I could never do!! At the start of this month I completed a 15 mile race - in training , running up to 20 milers, just one long run per week and any others short (5 milers) Yesterday!!!!! I completed the Dublin City Marathon in Ireland- yep 26.2 miles of road running- and it was one of the most amazing feelings of my life!!! I ran all the way! If someone told me this time last year what I would have done yesterday - I would have stared in disbelief! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Good Luck!! |

| Weight Loss | Losing fat AND muscle?? | Feb 11 2010 22:12 (UTC) |

Hey bugterfly, I was dealing with the same situation about a month ago and I figured out what was going on after I did my physical training leaders course. I was doing the exact same cardio and strength training as you, the main thing here is to monitor your heart rate when your working out as your body has two types of stores of fuel one is from your carbs and its called Glycocen and the other is from your fats. If your heart rate goes above 75% of your working heart rate when your working out you will use your glycocen fuel which amounts to approx 850 cals, some stored in your liver and some in your muscles. The thing about Glycocen is that it needs about 3 times its own amount in water to use up it as a fuel - hence when you initially lose 5 lbs in weight you've actually used up your glycocen and water store for it. This is why your body fat percentage hasn't changed, not because of muscle gain. What you want to do is use your fat stores and create a process of fatty oxidation in your workout. Believe it or not you have to be between 60% and 75% of your working heart rate for this to burn off. So basically work out between easy to moderate. The best way I can explain the difference between glycocen and fatty fuel is when you look at someone running a marathon- the runner will use their fatty fuel for the first 20 miles of the race and then they push it out for the last 6 and go into their glycocen stores. Did you ever hear of the term 'hit the wall' - this is when a runner has used all their fatty fuel and glycocen stores- this is when your body will try and use protein and anything else to keep going but basically they have no fuel to keep going so they hit the wall. I have written a few things about the differences in my journals if you need more info on the two fuels. Once you burn your fat your muscles will be more defined - use protein to prevent any muscle breakdown after your workout too. I usually use a small tin of tuna. Hope I didn't confuse you too much Good luck and feel free to ask anything else! Sara |

yeah that is definitly true and I see where your coming from, but does this mean fat will burn off while the muscle builds? To be honest I don't want too much more muscle anyway , I have enough to be able to lift a man and carry him up a hill and stuff , its just I want to get rid of the top layer of fat so its more defined if you know what I mean. So in this light do would i need to still have a deficit?

Hey ptcmama!! One question no one has seemed to ask is Do you still love him? deep down? Was he like this when you married? Whats changed? you need to sit down and talk to him? Ask him whats happened, it'll hurt alot but you need ta get it all out there. Is there good days and just more often bad days? or is it all horrible? He needs to know that he might loose you and the kids to not take you for granted!
You seem to be the homemaker in the family so if your embarrassed about your home then it will obviously effect your stress levels and happiness levels. The kids might not like you taking the animals away now but they sure will be embarrassed about there home if you don't - you could always pretend you've developed an allergy to fur or something- whos to know, sell all de rabbits an stuff and buy yourself something pretty!you deserve it Hope u'll be ok
Big hug Sarah

I know exactly how you feel , I have been training for the last three months and everything has been going great, losing weight fast and all that but then four weeks ago I decided to up the training, I suppose before my legs were ready and I inflamed my whole upper leg, but stupid me couldn't stop running and ran for another week , even completing a fitness test for work 3 mins under the time, which is why now I'm laid up and even walking to the shops is hurting . Its so frustrating!! Its gradually getting better but I'm worried too and where I am at the moment has no scales so I can't even see how I'm going but all I can say is try and cut your calorie intake a bit more to make up for the calories you would normally be burning , obviously not exactly but your metabolism will be up from training you have been doing. try and do sit ups and push ups and other exercises that don't rely on your knee to get your heart rate going in the morning. Also to prevent this from happening again , once you have healed , make sure you alternate your training, running on roads every day was what happened me, so maybe do grass wrok one day and maybe cycle the next , this will give muscles and bones a chance to catch up and work different ones! Good Luck! |
