Weight Loss cant give up chocolate & caffeine Jul 18 2006

As for the caffeine -- I used to be a diet coke addict (seriously, like 8 cans a day), and I slllloooowwwwlllyyyy widdled it down until I didn't drink any and I no longer crave it (actually, for the most part now I find it relatively disgusting).  My trick was to replace one can of soda per day each week with some sort of flavored seltzer (you can get them in cans at somewhere like wal-mart so they're just as easy to throw in a lunch or something as a diet coke).  So, one week I was drinking 7 cans of diet coke a day and one can of seltzer, the next week 6-2, then 5-3, and so on.  Ultimately I replaced the seltzer with water.  It was a long process, but I didn't get a single caffeine headache and don't miss it at all!

That said, I do have coffee every now and then.  Good luck!!

Those are fun!  Although, the fiber calculator told me that my normal recommended caloric intake is 1270.  I find that hard to believe...

I don't think i'm some sort of genetic mutant...sweet!!  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing with my body somehow.  Usually, the cheat days are fine, but for whatever reason, this weekend was hard!  Maybe I'll try to scale down this week's cheat session a bit...we'll see ;)

Cheatingirl, you may be right about portion sizes...I'm going to try to do a better job measuring and estimate up instead of down.  I worry about upping my calorie intake because I might go overboard (which I guess happens somtimes anyway).

Kylann, I'm about 5'3" ish.  I'm not exactly sure; it changes based on how I feel every day :-P  And, yes, you need to be eating more.  You must be feeling awfully tired, not to mention your body is not happy right now.

I may try measuring myself; I usually tend to go by how my clothes feel, but of course it would be nice to see that scale move some.  My body seems really comfy at 135ish and I am NOT comfy there!!

Thanks for the help guys :)  I'm going to try to make today an extra good day.

I went to Applebee's tonight for dinner too!!  But I had the mesquite chicken salad, which is on calorie-count.  Sorry I can't be of any other help...but if all else fails, just do some guesswork about each individual ingredient.  I actually ended up doing that because CC didn't seem to factor in any protein from the chicken.

Jeez, this is such good motivation!  I started around 143...seriously started tracking cals around 135...and now fluctuate between 130-133.  I just can't hit the 120s!  My goal is 112.

SO difficult!!

w1derfulmom and feliciamohammed, please seek help.  You both seem to have the beginnings of an eating disorder, and from what you've described, you don't feel like you have very much control anymore.  Ask your doctor about it, or even do some research (www.healthyplace.com is a great resource for various psychological disorders) on your own.  We here can provide you with support, but perhaps not enough that you need.  I say all of this out of complete support and compassion.  Please, please, talk to someone about your eating habits and try to eat as healthily as possible.

::hugs::
Foods pandajenn19, thanks for the Go Lean tip! Apr 04 2006

Y'all, Kashi makes GoLean bars that are really good, too.  Some of them get too high on the calorie scale for me (280ish as a meal replacement), but the ones I LOVE are 150 cals and have protein and fiber in them just like the cereal.  They're called GoLean Crunch Bars and they come in chocolate peanut butter and (my personal favorite) crunchy chocolate caramel!

To figure out what your maintenance cals would be, go to Tools and figure out your expenditure plugging in your goal weight instead of the wheat you are now.  That's your maintenance number!

Missryn, I think we might secretly be the same person -- you sound just like me!  I find myself wanting to binge in the evenings, so I tend to let myself cheat a little on Friday and Saturday nights, or just the whole day of Saturday.  I might have to step it up a little though, 'cause I'm not seeing too much weight loss (those last 10 pounds are REALLY stubborn!).
Weight Loss Burning calories when not exercising? Apr 03 2006

3500 calories = a pound of fat.  So, what you have to do to lose weight in a healthy manner is cut 3500 calories throughout your week (that's 500 a day).  Try playing around with some of the Tools options, and find out your daily expenditure.  Mine if I'm not working out at all is 1600.  So, suppose I run and burn 300 calories.  Now I've burned 1900 calories today.  The maximum calories I want to consume for the day, then, is under 1400.  And yes, the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in!  This can be done by exercising or calorie cutting, or a combination of both (that means that you only really have to cut 250 calories a day if you're burning 250 at the gym).

But remember not to cut your calories too low -- or you'll slow your body down.  It needs food to keep the metabolism up!

Hope this helps some :)

kat, I'm in the same boat, and for the past week or so I've been (unintentionally, mind you, as I'm visiting family out of town) in a defecit of about 100-200 instead of ~500.  We'll see what the scale says when I get back to it!

I'm 5'1", so my goal is a size 4.  I'm a size 8-10 right now...although I did just squeeze into a pair of size 6s!!!  Okay, they're a little stretchy, but still...
