I've been taking this for 2 months now. The first month I got really bad bouts of nausea, and overall I've definitely noticed I'm more emotional and more likely to cry, but I haven't noticed anything as drastic as you have. Hope you get it sorted, one way or the other! x |

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I'm sure I'm walking that fast (okay, probably more like 3.8 mph, so I deduct a few calories), because I know how far I walk and how quickly I walk it in! Good to know :-) |

Seemed an appropriate quote for a calorie forum, somehow! |

Hot chocolate powder by the spoonful. (I do sometimes still do this....) When my sister and I were left alone in the house we'd run downstairs as soon as my parents were gone, and we'd mix together hot chocolate powder, icing sugar and orange squash (the concentrated, crazily sugary stuff) and we'd spread it on digestive biscuits.

Hello Natasha I agree with everything these other posters have said. It sounds like you could benefit from talking to someone in the "real world". I wonder, could you maybe print off what you just wrote up there^^ and show it to someone? Parents, school counsellor (sounds scary, but it's worth a shot. Counselling doesn't work for everyone, but it's honestly the best thing I've ever done - I'm a different person since I went), even a teacher? Then you wouldn't have to say anything, just show what you wrote. You probably don't need to lose weight (apart from anything else, you're still growing), but there are definitely things which need sorting out. Things can get better, take it from someone who knows. But know that it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Nothing at all. Good luck to you. |

Elsa, I'm exactly the same - really toned, shapely legs, broadish hips, a decent waist and then a MEGA back (I'm a UK size 12 / US 8, but take a 38-40" bra!). I really dislike it... but I think we just have to learn to love it... somehow!!!! |

Oooh, I'm not a parent, but thanks for sharing! I just made one of these for lunch having read your post, with a plain tortilla, tomato sauce, spinach, cherry tomatoes and a bit of cheese. It was scrummy, and I'll definitely be doing it again!! |

Some people are just so insensitive and horrible :-(
My worst (or at least, the ones that affected me the worst) were a few weeks apart when I was about 15. I was overweight, but not obese. The first was a so-called-friend of mine telling me "you know, I really like you, but if you were thin and pretty like your sister I'd go out with you." I didn't want to go out with him anyway, but the fact that he felt it an appropriate thing to say hurt, and to this day the statement haunts me. The next, a few weeks later, was when I was sitting on my own waiting for my mum to come pick me up from school. A car drove up, with 4 late-teenage guys in it. They rolled down the window, looked me up and down and one of them said "Well you're hardly thin, are you?" at which they all laughed and drove off. Idiots. |

Perhaps. But then again, I know a few people who have had two or three serious relationships and who are now in another, but who still aren't sure. The 30 exes thing was an exaggeration... I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone with a list that long!!! I'm not socially awkward (and I know you're not implying I am!) but neither am I disinterested... I would like to be in a relationship at some point in the future. But there's noone suitable on the scene right now, and I'm in no rush. |

I'm 20. Never been in a relationship, never "dated casually", never kissed anyone, held hands... nothing. There is no particular reason for my lack of "experience" - I'm not waiting for Mr Right: I've just not been in the right place at the right time with the right people. I have been asked out a few times, and i have asked a few guys out, but for whatever reason the answer has always been "no". I don't think there's anything wrong with young teenagers dating or having relationships, but equally I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving it for later. Sure, I'm going to have a very different "first" experience than I would have done if I'd said "yes" to that boy 8 years ago, but it doesn't necessarily mean it'll be better or worse. Sometimes I worry that one day I will fall in love, have nothing to compare it to and so not be sure if it really is love or not. But I guess that even if I had a list of 30 ex-boyfriends, that doubt would still be there. |

So I hang on these forums more for weight loss than weight gain (so hello from the other side
The PBJ, oatmeal style 1/2 cup oats - I cook them in water, but nothing stopping you from cooking them in milk! Cook with 1 banana whisked in to make it even creamier and add nutrients! Put half the cooked oatmeal in a bowl. "Spread" high quality raspberry jam over the layer of oatmeal. Add unspecified quantity of pure peanut butter. Cover with the rest of the oatmeal. Pour over some milk/soya milk. EAT!!
The calorific content is largely up to you, depending on how much jam and peanut butter you choose to use (the more you use, the more decadent the oatmeal!) and whether you use milk or water!

So I have no advice... but come back onto the March group and keep posting how you're doing. Don't let this little set-back stop you from carrying on. Chin up - whatever is just IS, you can't change the past. It's what you choose to do now that counts. *hugs* |

| Foods | want to try tofu? | Mar 04 2010 17:36 (UTC) |

Personally I buy firm tofu (in a block), and I usually buy the stuff which is already marinaded in the pack, as it saves time and effort. I then cut it into cubes and use in soups or stir-fries, or I slice it and dry-fry it (no oil, but you could fry it normally) in a non-stick frying pan and eat it in a salad or with grains and veggies. If you buy it plain, though, you will need either to marinade it (use any marinade that could be used for meats) or eat it with something really flavourful, because it doesn't really have a taste itself! |

I don't have an issue with it (it's teeth-brushing that does it for me...... eeeeep!) but my sister does - she makes me suck my crisps if I ever eat them when she's around! It makes me laugh, but she really can't stand it. |

I think I'm going to buy me a nice corset. I've wanted one for ages, but have always said "no, because they're expensive, and I'm going to lose weight and then it won't fit me". 2 years on and I might as well have bought it, because in January I was only a few lbs lighter than at the time of nearly buying one. So now that I am being serious about losing weight, maybe that would be a good treat!! It'd also be a good incentive to maintain once I had it!! |

I am my own inspiration. Although I am as guilty as any young woman of looking in Cosmo and Glamour and seeing all the photoshopped 'perfection' and wondering if/how I could ever look like that, there's no celebrity who I want to look like. Actually, no, I lie. I want to be Nigella Lawson. I think she's wonderfully sexy. But as it happens, she's probably bigger than me anyway. I'm not losing weight for my family - they're pretty non-judgemental and as long as I'm happy and healthy, they're happy for me. I have always been single, so I'm not losing it for any man. If men find me more attractive now, it's because I'm more attractive thanks to my confidence increasing, not because my body's a little bit slimmer. I'm just doing it for me, so that I know I'm as healthy as I can be, and so that I'm happy with how I feel. |

) BUT I love oatmeal and it can happily be the biggest (therefore most calorific) meal of my day if I want it to be! So here's my current favourite:
