Ok. Great advice. Thanks again.

At least now I have a better plan than "Starve, Overeat, Feel Guilty, and Repeat".

Thanks.

So, eat more and exercise more? What about deficit? What number should I be looking for? If I burn 500 calories and then eat more, say 1500 cals, then should I be shooting for that maybe? a 570 deficit?

NOT a supporter of Obama.

Don't like him, never will. Not going to even attempt to explain why in detail... Basically just for every political thing he stands for...to answer your original question...

I used to binge eat. I would keep eating even if I was full just for the taste.

So, If I made a chocolate cake? It got eaten in 1 or 2 days. Bought a dozen donuts and kolaches? Same thing

Also...full fat ranch and garlic sauce on deep dish pizza. At least 3 pieces not including cheesy bread and buffalo wings.

A quart container of ice cream from Baskin Robbins. Sometimes I would eat the whole thing in one sitting.

I literally ate until I felt like I was bursting. My husband and son still eat this way!

I am doing so much better now. Paying more attention to the feeling of being "satisfied" instead of "full". Lost 15 lbs. so far!

If I set mine to sedentary, I can only eat 1200, the minimum! I have not been able to stick to that at all! Which is probably why I can't seem to lose that last 15 lbs.

I'm in the same boat. Inactive at home unless its a big cleaning day but active while exercising.

I go back and forth to setting it at lightly active to moderately active because I still can't get into a losing groove.

I totally thought I understood but now I really don't. So if I am 33, f, 5'3", 147-9 lbs. looking to lose 15 lbs. and I jog 2-3 miles 3-4 times/week, then what should I be eating?

If I set the calculator at light activity, it says I can have 1382, if I set it at moderate it says 1590. It says my calorie expenditure is at 1890 a day at light activity and over 2000 on Moderate. Which is right and what do I eat? I thought we were supposed to have a 500-1000 defecit to lose weight.

When I first posted I was 148, yesterday, 149, and now today 147 again.

I'm so tired of this fluctuation mess!

I'm ready to lose some REAL lbs! Am I going to have to eat 1200 cals and dry chicken breast and salads to acheive that???

So much to say, so little space to say it in...;D

I have a whole list of real ones but I'm not keen to make any enemies today, so here's my friendly list:

  • when I get sidetracked on the 'net when I should be doing something constructive.
  • people who don't say what they really mean and then I'm left to wonder their true motives/ fake kindness.
  • kids who don't show their elders respect and parents who don't correct them when they don't. My kids are going to say "Yes Ma'am" and "No Sir" and respond with a good attitude if it kills me (and when they don't, they get corrected).
  • Grown-ups who dress like teenagers
  • today's trendy fashions (Hollister, A & F, Scene, Emo, AE, Hollywood so-called haute couture, messy, etc.) Lindsay Lohan looks like a living "walk of shame."

Whatever happened wanting to look nice (and clean, for that matter)?

Hey, I started CC right around September but only faithfully counting around January 2009. Counted cals only at first, then started the exercise.

I jog/run 3.2 miles/day 3-4X/week. I've lost 11-13 lbs. fluctuates.

5'3", 33yrs, 148lbs, 1350 cals/day. Cheat when we eat out but try to calculate that into my cals per day.

Fitness For the daily runners... May 19 2009

I just started jogging again this year and I run 3.2 miles 3-4 times a week and it takes me an hour. I keep my pace slow and steady but ramp it up by sprinting as fast as I can for 30 seconds to a minute when I feel like my heart rate is dropping too low.

I wouldn't call myself a runner but I do love to jog/run. I hope to build up my speed and also run 4-5X a week.

(My specific reasons for jogging slowly are that I like to keep my heart rate up above a certain level for the full hour AND when I try to run faster, my knees tend to hurt and I get shin splints.)

Take it slow and steady and push yourself when you can.

I also love, love, love the hostess mini cupcakes in chocolate and strawberry. You get three of them and it cures my need for desserts.

I think if you like to have chips with a sandwich every once and a while and everyone else is having doritos and cheetos, etc., then it's handy to have 100 cal chip packs around. I like the Harvest Cheddar Sunchips.

3 hours!!?! Wow, it takes me 1 hour to run 3 miles so I can't imagine running as fast as you for 20 whole miles! Good grief, I have my work cut out for me don't I? UGH!

Great job, anyway!!! Don't be too hard on your Dad. Parents say some pretty stupid things sometimes. He probably didn't mean it... BUT if he did mean to hurt your feelings, make sure he's among the first to know about your awesome accomplishment! lol

  • weird toy-like candy

and most other "kid" food. Yuck!

Original Post by novileigh:

Your stats are almost equal to mine (except you weigh less - lucky) and yeah, I get the pain when I start to run. Except mine doesn't itch, it tingles - like your foot falling asleep. foundation garments can help, but make sure you're looking for something that's less for looks and more for performance. You should be able to take in a full, deep breath from your chest and stomach without feeling "constricted", and at no time during your run should the covrered area feel tingly or numb.

Edited to add: If the above poster is talking about the Danskin ones from walmart, I agree. They have a neat little tummy control panel that's actually really nice! Plus, its built into the pants, so no extra layer of fabric!

These are the ones I was talking about. LOve them!!!

Lol! This is funny.

Yeah, I had/still have somewhat that problem and at first I wore bike shorts underneath to "reign" in my extra bottom/belly bulge, but after a few weeks it just starts to firm up and by then I didn't care or notice.

I think I remember about my stomach and bottom itching kinda like it feels when you let a jacuzzi jet run on your back too long? But that doesn't happen anymore.

Currently I just wear black yoga type capris. My faves are actually around $11.99 from Walmart. They are snug fitting so they keep everything in check. The quicker you get out there and start jogging, the quicker the extra lbs. melt away!

HTH!
