hisana, You have taken the first step. You have asked for help. First off, PLEASE make sure to talk to your doctor. Make sure you have a complete physical, including checking all of your various hormone levels. For 10 years I told my doctor something was wrong with me. I kept gaining weight, my hair was falling out, I was tired all the time, I was losing my sex drive, my skin was so dry I made an alligator look good, I was lethargic ALL the time, and then I started having symptoms of low blood sugar. My doctor kept saying "other than being obese, your perfectly healthy". Then one day he was on vacation when I went in for something and his physican's assisant saw me. She told me that my thyroid levels were in "normal" range, how ever they were on the low side. She retested me and started me on medication for it. In three days I felt like a human again. Since then, my depression has lifted and I have SLOWLY made small changes. My first change... I stopped drinking all soda's. I found out that I really don't like the way they taste anyway. I started at 309 lbs. It is now three years later and I am holding my weight between 272 and 276 depending on the time of the month. I do NOT weigh myself daily, it depresses me. I weigh myself once a week. I still am trying to lose another 20 lbs, but I am not making major or fast changes. I see the number here and it doesn't seem like a large amount of weight, but its a success for me. Good luck on your new journey. Shelly

You have a tough decision to make. When I put both of my babies down, the final answer came when I asked, "Is my cat suffering more than they should be? Can the suffering be alleviated?" I answered yes to the first and no to the second. My first cat I had been given when I was 3 years old. We finally had her put down when I was 20 and recently married and pregnate. She had 6 surgeries to remove cancer and the cancer kept coming back faster each time. She wouldn't let anyone even touch her she was in so much pain. My vet let me hold her when he administered the shot. She just "fell asleep" in my arms. Teeny was put down 18 years ago and im still crying. The second cat I had put down didn't like to be held so I was not there when he was given the shot. We decided to put him down when he refused to eat or drink anything after three days. The three different vets we took him to could never tell us what exactly was wrong with him though. I believe he had a cancer of some type becuase he had an odor like he was dying from the inside. Precious was put down a little over a year ago, he was 16 years old. The day Precious died, I went and rescued a wild kitty at my job site that I had been trying to tame for about 3 months. The kitty is now a strictly indoor housecat named Stash. Whatever decision you make, my heart goes out to you. |

| Plastic and metal ring sizers can be found in the Walter Drake site. I'm sure they are also in their catalog. I don't know if i can post the addy, but if you do a search in Yahoo for Walter Drake, it should be the first one and the description reads: Features a variety of products including labels and stationery, outdoor and garden, personal care, and more. | |||

I love this thread! Not only is my scale possesed, but its crazy too! I got home from work yesterday after being awake for almost 48 hrs and weighed myself...303 pounds. I crashed and slept for about 5 hours, got up and just knew that scale was wrong so i weighed again...299. HOW IN THE WORLD do you lose 4 pounds sleeping???? Today, I weighed when I woke up...(quickly becoming and obsession) and I was 299.6. I did my morning business, ate 24 frosted mini-wheats w/my one cup whole milk (cant stand anything else), and weighed again....back up to 301. I know that that itty bitty one serving of cereal and one cup milk could NOT weight 2 pounds. So, not only possesed, but crazy. and I am definatly going back to weighting once per week before I go crazy. |

I went to my first ren faire last year as a chaperone for my daughters art class and LOVED it. We went as a family this year and after that a friend suggested the Society for Creative Anachronism. A year round ren faire type group! The family joined the SCA about 2 months ago and ever since I have been doing Archery which has really helped me burn calories. Its also a hoot to see peoples faces when they ask how are you losing weight and I tell them I'm using Calorie-count and Archery. YEA FOR REN FAIRES....oh yea, and you don't have to be thin to enjoy them! lol |

I've been married for 17 years 10 months. When the kids were younger, our frequency didn't change much, about twice a week. As they got older it was harder to find time when they were either not around or outside playing so it dropped. About 3 years ago our eldest, a girl, told me one day that "the walls are very thin mommy". WELL...needless to say, we basically don't have a sex life at the moment. Add to the embarassment of that and the way I feel about my body and my own lack of sex drive...we are down to about once every 4-5 months. |

I also don't reply to the boards often. I espeically love mollymousers ranting board. My motivation? I HATE being fat. I know that all I have to do is watch what I eat and exercise and I will get less fat ;). My problem is sticking with it. I am also loseing weight because both of my parents, 3 out of 4 grandparents and my brother were all diabetics. I know that I will most likely become diabetic, but why make it sooner than it has to be? I would also like to go to amusment parks again. I stopped going when I got too fat to fit into the seats on the roller coasters. |

When I first joined the site, I found it difficult and confusing as well. Just keep using it and it will click. I found that I will eat certain brands of foods over and over. When I couldn't find it in the data base, I went to my recipes and added it there and tagged it so it would be easier to find next time. Also, I started cooking at home more. I would make sure to measure what I was using and put it into the recipe analyzer and then save it and tag it. I even did this with my Ice Tea. Try counting how many teaspoons of sugar are in 2 cups! LOL. Good luck. |

I have been trying to find the recipe online as well for almost 2 years. I guess its some kind of big secret recipe? I think the cream is made from a mixture if sour cream and sweetened condensed milk. *sighs* this is frustrating. |

My kids, who are 16 and 17 have started making dinner and this is one thing they are comfortable making, so there are times that I have to eat it so that I don't squash their growing culinary skills. LOL When they do make it, I will serve myself a small amount of the Hamburger Helper and a very
large portion of vegetables and if we have a salad I will eat more of
the salad as well. They know I am trying to watch what I eat, so they don't usually say too much if I just have a very small portion. |

I found I like the low fat Basalmic Dressing from Jack in the box. Newmans Own low fat version is ok too. As for the spritzers, I tried two different versions of it. I found in order to get the flavor of the dressing I used more than if I used the actual dressing. I didn't care for them. |

juicy, this also happened to me. the first two weeks of being in c-c i droped close to 13 pounds. Then, the fourth - fifth week, i didn't even lose one ounce. I was almost getting discouraged, when I weighed today, i was down another 2 pounds. I think that part of the inital weight loss was water weight. I also realized since I started on c-c, i have cut back on the soft drinks and am drinking more water, so that is also where alot of my weight was coming from. :D. I started at 312 on september 2, this morning i was 298. That is fourteen pounds in about 5 weeks...it averages out to 2.8 pounds a week. Just keep at the calorie intake your supposed to be and dont go below it. *just my opinion* good luck! |

well, ive wanted to lose weight for years. I used to be on a swim team and now i cannot even swim one lap. It made me feel really bad about myself that I couldn't swin one lousey lap. Then I started to get some pains in my chest when I wasn't moving around. My mom had a ton of health problems and everyone in my family is diabetic. My mom died at age 54, her mom at 59. With all of this, the chest pains pushed me to lose the weight, I want to live to be older than 60. I want to go to the park with my kids and play and have fun without having to sound like a train when i breath. I want to enjoy my grandkids after my kids grow up and have kid (they say they wont..lol) I guess basically I want to be heathlier. I hate thinking that I might be at half point in my life. :S Another less important reason is the "shallow"aspect of it. I want to look better, I want to be able to go into Walmart or any store and buy a pair of pants that fit. There are other way more personal reasons I want to lose weight, but those are the major ones. |

I just got home from my very first visit to Curves. Since I dont' exercise at all, I am hoping it will help some. What I was surprised at was that their weight scale said i was 8 pounds heavier than the scale I have here at home. Also, the blood pressure machine they have said I have high blood pressure and I have never even border line on my blood pressure. My one major concern about doing this is my knee, it is killing me after doing the squat machine. I do wonder how to log it in the activities log though. |

| I personally have not done this, but wouldn't just taking your measurements (arms, chest, stomach, waist, hips & thighs) and keeping track of that be better than by going by what size your clothes are? | |||

hello tashabella, I just joined this site about a week ago. I too need to lose over 100 pounds and that is just terrifing to me so I have set my goal to 37 pounds by feb and it doesn't seem so scary. I think I have done good at staying close to the calorie limit to lose weight, except for today. I totally blew it. :'( Im going to try not to let it discourage me though. One day out of 7 isn't bad. I have just been entering everything into the food log and if I find something thats not listed here I go to the recipes section and put in what the ingredients are and add it that way. I too hear that voice that if I dont change and get healthier I wont be living as long as I would like, the voice comes to me when I try to do my patrols at work and I cant go more that 15-20 feet without being totally winded. Good luck. |
