But see that's the thing, once I broke that plateau, I did eat tons more calories. I ate at least 2200 calories a day, and I was able to not gain weight again. All in all, I lost sixtysomething pounds, and when I upped my workout routine it was to lose the last 15 stubborn pounds

I've tried the whole eating more deal, and that didn't do anything for me. What I did was I continued with the low cal diet, but I upped my workout routine. Consequently, the more I worked out, the hungrier I would get, so the more I would eat. The pounds dropped, and I was for the first time in my life one of those people who get  to eat whatever I wanted without counting calories and without gaining weight.

haha I sort of had the same reaction. Also this is nitpicking but I dont like saying Beyonce is "what every woman should look like "she's has the perfect body for Beyonce. I will never have her behind, will never be as tall and will always have my pale skin. Although I see your point, we should celebrate having healthy bodies instead of starving already thin ones

My whole point with the beyonce comment was that she is obviously not fat, nor is she starved, and that's what women should strive for. Health :)

Lindsey Lohan Pre-mini sizing was also a favourite of mine.

Thanks everyone.

Did pretty well all day at work and just ate my good breakfast and the food I took to work...  wasn't fun food but it was ok.  But tonight, it was like a stampede to the trough.  First pizza would have been ok except for the seconds and thirds and then I had my watermelon fruit.  I was feeling really full by then but then my husband made rootbeer floats. Now I feel sick and I can not believe I could not even make it one day.

Would it be easier if you got rid of all the junk food in the house? Maybe ask hubby to not offer you junk food if he somehow has it? Or eat a dressingless salad & drink a large glass of water before dinner.Try making like you are quitting drinking/smoking. Overeating is another compulsion we can all work at, one day at a time:)

The thing I don't like about fast food is (Big Shock) it has a ton of calories for not alot of food :( 310 calories for an itty bitty sandwich that won't fill me up is not my idea of a craving killer. I very rarely eat fast food now, my favorite meal by far is a cheese burger with the works (at a Gunther tootys, which is a fifties nostalgia diner) with a frosty milk shake and Elvis fries, and I shudder to think of how many days' worth of calories is in that concoction!

Do like we do with the horses - get back on it Missy!! To help avoid the temptation of food, get rid of all the junk food in the house, the whole out of sight thing really does work! if you want some pizza, have a slice or two of the super thin crust kind, and use a napkin to soak up excess oil. Look for small containers (some brands have single serve) of low cal/ low fat ice cream, or better yet, buy fruit bars individually from the gas station :)

"Thank you.  I think my head hurts from all the ideas and a lot of you are eating radically different than we always have.  I can really relate to what flamel said.  Meat sandwiches slathered with mayonaise.  I think slathered is a good way to describe our use of mayonaise, and that is on both pieces of bread. No Ha Ha about it, but I feel kind of like laughing.  Maybe nervous laughter because really I feel like crying.  I love cheese.  And lots of salt sprinkled on everything and I think probably that is why the scales popped up last night. "

Here's a great sandwich for when I"m craving a mayo slathered sandwich:

  • two slices of whole wheat bread: 130 calories
  • two tablespoons of mayonnaise(one on each slice): 200 calories
  • as much lettuce as you care to fill up your sandwich with: One head of lettuce that is 5 inches in diameter  has 21 calories
http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/Foods/1100/1 1250/2/Food.aspx

  • two slices  of ham (or six slices of the super thin slices): 60 calories
  • two plum tomatoes: 22 calories
So even if you manage to theoretically eat the entire head of lettuce ( I don't imagine anyone would) ,   you still only get 333 calories for the whole sandwich. Of course the healthier alternative would be turkey instead of ham, and fat free mayo, but I feel it's ok to give in to a craving every once in a while  :)

Weight Loss Power-Pops... containing "hoodia" that supresses appetite Jul 18 2006

I've tried Hoodia, it does decrease appetite, but ( I know how bad this sounds) It's no Ephedra.

There's no negative side effects I've experienced from Hoodia, nor anyone else that I have known that takes hoodia, which is a plus.

However, what will happen when one gets off these pills? I'd stay away, since losing weight is really about a lifestyle  change :)

Here are  a few tips.

For a snack, have some fresh, raw veggies and fruits. Don't like the taste? No prob, use these to add flavor:

http://www.wish-bone.com/dressing.asp?kind=ss &dressing=ss_italian

Personally, I like the ranch dressing, so I do what restaurants do. Dilute it with some nonfat milk, you'll get more for your calorie :)

Also try prefreezing meals, like chicken soups, or casseroles. That way you only cook once a week

I don't know how helpful this will be, but..

To slow down on your drinking, don't buy beer in bulk. I mean don't buy a six pack, don't buy a twelver or a case. If you crave a beer and you find you want it badly enough to compromise your diet, go through the necessary steps to buy one.

1. make the decision to buy one

2.grab your car keys/coat/purse/wallet/whatever you need

3.go to your car, lock the house door

4.put on your seatbelt.

5.start your car

6.drive to the liquor store

7.pick your beer (get one. Not a forty ouncer, not a six pack, grab one single can of whatever beer you like)

8.pay

9.get back in your car

10. seat belt

11.start the car

12.go home

13.put your keys/coat/purse whatever you took with you away.

14. Enjoy!

The lesson is, if you want one badly enough, make it so it is more of a hassle, and more expensive for you to get it.
