I bought a formal suit, size 8 some time ago and hope to fit in it by the time I graduate in August. I am currently size 12. I can almost zip the skirt up but the jacket is still too snug. Hopefully I will be able to wear it by August. |

| Weight Loss | What made you decide to lose weight? (oops, this is a topic) | Oct 14 2009 20:17 (UTC) |

I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago. Then, I started loosing a lot of hair. The easiest solution to the problem was to loose weight and add exercise to get the insulin and hormone levels under control. It was rather shocking to lose hair while still in college and I decided to start loosing weight before it was too late to reverse the hair loss. It may sound vain but has now lead me to a better and healthier way of life |

| Weight Loss | What do you eat when you have a sweet tooth? | Oct 14 2009 20:10 (UTC) |

I usually eat a tsp of straight raw sugar. It is intensely sweet. My taste buds kinda max out on the sweet. It satisfies my craving and stops me from eating any other sweet things. |

START Sept 3-5: 159 lbs.
Stress is one of my biggest triggers. Sometimes when my experiments don't go well or when I have had a trying meeting with my advisor, I tend to binge on candy. I hit my low two weeks ago. I had absolutely no luck with my research and I ate candy from the vending machine till I ran out of change :( |

START Sept 3-5: 159 lbs. I am planning on getting atleast 7 hours of sleep every night as well as eating breakfast. Being a poor graduate student leaves me with barely 4 hours of sleep on weekdays. I always wake up late and end up missing breakfast. Then the whole day, diet wise, goes to hell in a handbasket. I will try hard to catch up on the zzz's. |

START Sept 3-5:   ; 159 lbs.
Measurements : Chest 37, Waist 27.6, Hips 45, Thigh 24.6 I have lost some weight but was stuck on a plateau. I think some positive feedback and motivation will help a lot. I think it is rather weird that I feel somewhat ashamed to tell others ( thin/ healthy ) that I am trying to lose weight. It feels horrid to admit that I haven't taken as good care of my body as I should have. It is easier to admit my efforts to others going through the same thing. There are grounds for common understanding. Does any one else feel like this at times? |

| Weight Loss | I eat carbs all day! Ugh! | Aug 06 2009 00:09 (UTC) |

Hey p1nksh4rpiez. I used to have the same problem. Since I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, I did end up eating too many carbs. Now I am down to about 100-120g of carbs ie around 35% daily calorie intake. I add soy granules to all my stews and soups. I also eat all my salads topped with baked tofu. I eat two to three servings of nuts and seeds each day. I have also replaced my cereal and milk breakfast with a 25g whey protein shake. I make it a point to have one high carb day every week as I love my brownies and ice cream too much to give them up completely. One great thing I have noticed is that if I start my day with a very high protein BF, I don't have carb cravings throughout the day. I feel less hungry during the day and have more energy. I hope this helps :) |

| Vegetarian | Low Carb Vegetarian? | Jul 20 2009 19:34 (UTC) |

Since I suffer from PCOS , I have been following a modified low carb diet for the past few months. I have been a vegetarian all my life so didn't have to make any effort there. I try to keep my carb intake below 120g per day. I stick to whole grains and berries/ tart fruits for my carb intake. I eat lots of beans. tofu, nuts and yogurt. I also eat all types of vegetables with smaller portions of the starchy kind. So far I have seen a gradual decline in my PCOS symptoms and also lost 20 lbs. I don't feel as hungry and tired. I also plan for a week every couple of months where I eat a high carb diet just to keep my metabolism going. I do count my calories though (1300-1400). Makes no sense to eat excess calories, just because they were low carb. |

You can find the TVP in the grocery store in a dry granule form or in frozen food section already cooked. You can find it online too. |

I am a vegetarian on a high protein diet. After looking around for a while I found TVP granules from Bob's mill. I rehydrate them in the sauce/broth I plan on cooking with and add it to all my meals. It soaks up all the liquid and thickens the soups. It has 8g protein in every 1/4c serving.

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have lost almost 20 lbs on a (35%)high fat low carb diet. I had trouble loosing any weight and keeping it off whenever I tried to follow a low fat diet. I have been taking omega-3 supplements in addition to this. My skin, hair and scalp look and feel a lot better. |

Hey thr, I am electrika and I live in Virginia. I was really excited to see this group. It is true that there arent a lot of people our age with a lot to loose here. I am about 5' 2" and weigh 168 lbs. I want to loose about 45 lbs . Though my main goal is to et my PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) under control. When I heard that I had PCOS I was extremely depressed. But my doctor assured me that weight loss coupled with exercise could help me a lot. Also I want to be able to go to a store ,pick out a dress and actually fit into it. It gets tiring to ask /look for a bigger size all the time. |

Hey thr, I would really love to join your club. I am 5' 2", and need to loose about 47 lbs. I finally decided to loose some wt when shopping for clothes lead to week long bouts of depression. It is hard to ask/ look for a bigger size every time you shop for clothes. I think support of like minded and serious people would help a lot. |
