Tomorrow I'm going on a team building kayak trip with my company.  I've never kayaked but have always wanted to try.  However, I'm not super looking forward to this.  I work with a bunch of fitness freaks.  I don't even know if my ass will fit in the damn opening of the kayak.

Also, I have a bum shoulder from lugging around my 17 lb. piece of squishy baby baggage.  Hope it doesn't freeze up when we're in the middle of freaking nowhere.

This is my idea of hell.  I am NOT a team player in these situations (or any others really), as the one shouting the loudest is always the one with the biggest gob and no brain.

Hello all who know who I am.

I must admit I like the thought of it, but when push comes to shove I just can't do it.

This totally freaks me out.  I hate having anyone in my home apart from me, hub, son and the dog.  Also, being teetotal makes people wary, but I just don't like the taste of alcohol.  I don't have a problem with others drinking, but a lot of people assume I am some sort of killjoy because I don't drink or smoke.

Just as well I am not looking for friends.

I think the metaphor is a bit much, but the excuse "boys will be boys" has always annoyed me, no matter the age of the "boy" whose poor behavior is supposedly excused by the phrase.

Seems to bug me most when it is said by girlfriends or wives whose boyfriends or husbands head off to the strip club with their buddies.  I suppose morality really is relative, but it's hard for me to see that kind of activity as anything other than a healthy dose of disrespect towards one's significant other.

Agreed.

Shadow was around 9 or 10 (rescue cat, so not exactly sure), and had renal failure for only a few months.  He got a bit better, but we had him pts when he kept vomiting, didn't urinate for 36 hours and his paws started to swell.  He was ready to go, but I just couldn't let him keep fighting any more as he wasn't going to get better.  That was 6 months ago, and we are getting another rescue cat tomorrow.

My thoughts are with you and your family (human and kitty).  ((( <3 )))

It's adopt a greyhound month!!  If you want a daft, lazy lump then a greyhound is for you!!

Babs (our lurcher) was recommended to us by the rehomer when we were looking for a greyhound, and I saw MT's photo on a website and fell in love with his old, grey face.  He has been here 2 days now and has totally settled.

I think the dog will choose you, not you choose the dog.  Good luck.

Hello all!!

My new doggie is arriving next Wednesday!!!!   It is so exciting!!!!!!!!

Yay :D

Did I miss whether the dog has a name already? And what type? and pics? and  . . . and . . .

He is called Marshmallow Thor (MT), and is an older staffie.  I'm not sure exactly how old, but he's no spring chicken.  I found him online and knew he was meant to live here in the madhouse!

I would like to make Trevor a nice Easter breakfast.

On my list- homemade raisin scones. That's all. I'm open to suggestions. :) Keeping in mind he doesn't eat eggs.

Lots of chocolate.  Sorted.  :)

I have only made the liver cake so far, but I did taste it - it was OK.  I will not be using anything in the treats that I wouldn't eat myself, but some are baked a bit longer so are harder than usual cookies.

The fancy ones look good, but are expensive and seem more suitable for showing off at a party rather than just a treat for the poor dog.  I associate the fancy treats with people who spend a fortune on clothes and accessories for the dogs and like to flaunt their spending.  Apologies in advance if anyone is offended!  :)

A question (or two) for dog owners - if you were buying home made dog treats at a small charity event, would you want cheap, basic ones or the fancy ones with the coloured icing/toppings?  What would influence your decision?

At the risk of embarrassing myself on my first venture into the lounge... Am I missing something with the house hippo thing?? I saw a weird comment from Dthronx earlier and then that shosho commented (not that i take her comments serioysly) Have I embarrassed myself with this? Is it some joke I've missed? I'm pretty well confused right now!

Melkor usually hands them out - they are really cute.

Edit:  Sparky beat me to it.

Back again! I went for a nap.  Hub is unwell (expected slump after trip), so I have been taking the dog out more than usual.  Grocery shopping later if I can be bothered to change out of my jammies, then I need to sort out and wash cake pans for the bakeathon.

Who is/was shosho, and what happened to the new looloo?  She came back just before I went missing.

What have I missed in the last month or so?  I saw Pavvy's had her baby, but that's all.  Anything else interesting??

I like liver, but hub doesn't and the boy is sensitive to it so avoids it.  Babs likes the liver cake, but she isn't a good dog to test food on as she is not bothered by it most of the time.  I am hoping her appetite will improve when we get the new dog.

*sneaks into Chat*

Hello all!  This seems as good a time as any to return.  Since I put all the weight back on plus a bit more, my feet and knees hurt again.  I haven't yet braved the gym again, but I have a couple of months left on the membership.

I have a busy few days coming up.  I agreed to make cakes for a fundraiser for greyhound charities, so need enough for 50 people plus extra to sell.  I also found some easy recipes for dog treats, so that's another 5 items.  The liver cake isn't too bad (I like liver), but it's a good job I'm not squeamish.  Liguidised liver is not a pretty thing.

Jules, I have a doggie question, too. How can I get them to do what I want? For example, there is laundry to be folded and dishes to be done which, granted, I could be doing since I'm working from home, but I'm also sick. I asked them to do them for me but instead, they're lying on the couch snoring.....What should I do?!!?!?!

Pffft.  Poor puppy parenting.

My dog pre-rinses all the dishes and puts away his own doggie blankets when he spots them in the laundry basket.

I thought you were a squirrel whisperer......

She got the squirrels to train the dog......................obviously!! &nb sp; :)
