it was really thgat unsafe im sure the FDA would have done something. but, somehow its safe enough to be on the shelves. and i know i cant counterbalance my lifestyle with a pill. i only drink beer. i used to be 195 pounds but am now 145. my only concern is losing my muscle along with the rest of the fat. im not an idiot, gj-jane. i know pills are useless on their own. it doesnt mean they cant work at all. about what you said about the chemical in it...so? its medical. tylenol isnt aht great for your system either. you know they use peanuts (well, part at least) in making dynamite? doesnt mean peanuts are bad. are you a doctor? im not, so i cant say that its totally safe. but you cant really judge it either. at least i am not like most people who find a tiny problem and get hopped up on pills. im not happy, im going to take prozzak. i have a headache, i should take a few tylenol. i get nervous sometimes, i need antianxiety pills. no thanks. i just want something short term to help me reach my goals a little faster. i was asking if it would be bad with alcohol. thanks for not answering my question. |

i love beer! alcohol is already bad for your body. whether or not you're working out. but if you chose to drink thats your choice (same choice i made!). if youre keeping yourself hydrated i really dont see how it could be bad. i mean, would it really be better if you just didnt run on friday and still drank? i wouldnt think so.
but maybe im wrong. but. hey, only one life to live. may as well enjoy it. |

loseweight1234, you have some awesome suggestions! thank you! i cant get rid of the food in the house. i am 19 and live with my mom brother and sister. they eat lots of junk food. i cant just throw out their food. i have tried encouraging them to eat better and it worked for a little while, but they went back to their old ways. so like it or not, im surrounded by it. and at least once a week my mom has "deep fry night" as dinner. i dont usually participate in that lol. but lately its been hard to stay focus. thanks for your ideas! |

| Fitness | How long will I be sore for? | Dec 31 2008 05:33 (UTC) |

It's called DOMS (Delayed On-Set Muscle Soreness). It's the pain you get a day or two (or sometimes three!) after working out those muscles. You can feel it for anywhere between 2 to 5 days...or around that at least. What happens is every time you move, your muscle fibers tear (very slightly, might I add). When you work out, you are tearing those muscle fibers even more. When you tear them, your body must repair them. The area swells and pushes on your nerves and arteries and causes pain <- (this is the latest theory, before it was said that it was caused by lactic acid build-up, which is untrue because lactic acid levels deplete within several short hours of your workout) Your muscles are hurting because your body is repairing them. The pain will go away soon, but try not to push yourself there again.
Also, it doesn't have to happen every time your body tries something new and different. Just when you try something new and you push yourself a little too hard (usually you dont know your boundaries when it's new to you) |

Also, I eat lots. I eat about 2400 calories a day. Because I work out so much I need to eat lots. This is even brought down because up until a month ago I was eating 2600 a day. |

| Weight Loss | Skinny B**** Book | Dec 31 2008 05:14 (UTC) |

I want to write book called Sexy Slim Women and have it all about high protein meaty diets. Just for fun. I mean, whatever you eat, as long as its not loaded with calories or super fatty it is good and you can lose weight if you keep it smart. So, a diet rich with meat could work as well as a vegan one for losing weight. Granted it IS true that animal fat isnt so great for our bodies (mostly our liver) and veggies are necessary, but we do need it (meat). And also I think it would be fun to put a book like that out there as a "reply" to Skinny Bitch. BTW, I dont eat just meat lol. I like to balance my diet. But still...would be fun to write that book for **** and giggles. Send a copy to the author...also for **** and giggles. |

| The Lounge | City Bus Strike and why they frikkin' suck (rant) | Dec 11 2008 02:56 (UTC) |

Actually, it's not just the drivers. It's the entire company. And yes, I rely on their service because I don't have a car and i can't carpool. But that doesn't mean they can screw over all their passengers. They HAVE NOT improved service or added more bus routes. The drivers dont have an issue with the company, its with the city. The whole company - drivers included - wants to be treated and paid "like city workers" but they dont ACT like city workers. City workers are not allowed to strike like that. They are allowed to strike AT WORK while still doing their jobs. Ex: cops in Quebec that were striking wore their regular day clothes to work. Firefighters (again in Quebec i think) painted all their engines green. They have so far done nothing but raise ticket and pass prices. We passengers see no benefits to us. And they do not perform thankless tasks. Just because we don't say "thank you" every single time we board a bus does not mean we don't appreciate the service. I don't say "thank you" every time I see a stock boy in a grocery store putting things away on the shelves. I don't say "thank you" every time I notice the mailman delivering mail. They are striking because they want more sick days, personal days, etc (they get more than most other jobs already), they want higher pay (again, higher than most already), they want fully paid maternity leave (a lot of places dont offer paid maternity leave at all, and the ones that do are certainly NOT 100%), and raising other benefits that they have that are already above the average. They KNOW they can make the public suffer by striking and they KNOW the city will be pressured to cave. Get THIS...they suggest WALKING AND BIKING (carpooling is their third option). It's been twenty below out the past few days and we just had over 20 cm of snow as well. WALK OR BIKE? AS IF! |

| Health & Support | Panic Attacks (mental health issue) | Nov 16 2008 21:56 (UTC) |

Original Post by jblarghp: I am seeing a therapist, but it doesn't help much. I took medication for anxiety for three days. It kept me up all night because I was worried that I would have some horrible side effect or heart attack and die, so I stopped taking them. They gave me more anxiety! Personally I am also against taking drugs now, which I know people may judge when I say that because I used to do the illegal kind, but people change. I took those anxiety meds as a desperate attempt at stopping them, but they failed me in that way. I hear you are supposed to take them for a while before they take effect, but I missed two days of school and work because of staying up all night with panic attacks, passing out around 7:00AM, and then sleeping all day.
Sometimes when I am falling asleep, I am still awake enough in my mind to know that I'm about to fall asleep, but when I feel that I don't think "oh, I'm about to fall asleep" I think I'm dying and I wake myself up. Immediately after I doing so I realize that really...I was just about to fall asleep, I wasn't dying! My therapist told me no one has ever died from a panic attack. But I asked her how would she know that. I mean, I'm not a doctor so I can't say "hey, maybe people can die from them" but....if someone had a big panic attack and worked themselves up enough to give themselves a heart attack....then they die from "the heart attack" not the panic attack. Again, I'm not a doctor, but that little thought freaks me out when I'm in the middle of a panic attack and I feel my heart racing faster than ever. |

in response to those who say he is not interested in me: every day he has off we spend together. he calls me honey and other cute things. his roommates and friends all tell me he always talks about me when im not around. one of his friends even expressed an interest in me but followed it by saying he wouldnt even try because of "bob*"
*named changed for obvious reasons lol.
he doesnt really like going out to do...'things'. paintballing would be AWESOME, i have done it before and loved it, but its not something we could do, as e have no transportation and no paintballing areas close by. also...he isnt the kind of guy to want to go out and do something like that. when he goes out its to parties or punk shows. and a calendar wouldnt be "too much of me" or at least i dont think so. i mean, we have sex often. he's already seen it all.
its hard to plan ahead for a concert or punk show because he could be working the night of the show, and cant afford to schedule days off.
thats why its so hard for me to find something to get him! |

i dont know was NASM is, edamame3. is that a US certification? all the trainers at the gym i am at are Can-Fit-Pro certified. i took a day off and feel a lot better. i think ill schedule in those "off days" its just hard when every day im so excited to work out again. its like....having sex everyday and loving it, but then one day forcing yourself not to do it. lol. best analogy i could come up with right now. |

Brandi! There are many different ways to get motivated, you just have to find one (or some) that work to keep you motivated. What gets you going? Is there a show, movie, or song that gets you pumped up and ready to work-out? (for me it's Dragon Ball Z, lol) Any big even coming up that you are excited for, like a wedding, christmas party, new years party, etc etc where you would love to show off your progress? Keep those in mind, maybe that will help! Exercise made me feel great during and after the workout. Does it do the same for you? If you find you're having a hard time, just think about how great you feel once you get into it! Or, my last idea, reward yourself after your workout with a hot candle-lit bath or something relaxing like that! |
