Hmm...interesting question.  I don't think I have a direct answer, but maybe a suggestion.  I would just use calorie count's generic listing for cooked beans.  (like this one for black beans).

I don't have time to cook beans from scratch either.  Or rather, it's not the highest thing on my priority list.  Although, the flavor of fresh cooked beans is really different.  That said, I use canned beans a lot. 

However - I learned 2 things early on about canned beans.

1 - Check the ingredients lists!!!  Some have a ton of stuff that shouldn't be in beans.  I usually buy an organic kind, because they generally have less 'stuff' - just beans, water, sea salt, but there are cheaper brands that also don't have the extras.

2 - Rinse the beans.  That will help w/ the sodium content.  And also makes them taste fresher.

I get LOTS of dinner (and every other meal/snack/etc) from www.cookinglight.com  They have a section called Dinner Tonight that has quick, easy, delicious meals.  The great thing...you can find a recipe that looks great at work, write down any ingredients you need, and pick them up on the way home!

My husband and I didn't move in together until we got married, and had never stayed over at eachother's places.  Personally, I don't believe it is right to move in together before getting married.  As for the adjustment afterwards...I personally think marriage is an ongoing adjustment - one that will never end.  I think some people forget that.

There is no way to throw two (or more if roommates) people together, and not have their upbringings clash at some point, even if it's silly stuff (why do you fold the towels like that?  i dunno, cause that's how they had to be folded to fit on the shelf at my parents?) 

I had 5 roommates for the year before I got married - going from 6 people/6 backgrounds/6 ways of eating, etc, in the house to just two made it seem like a piece of cake ;-)

Haha - I was searching around on Google for info on whether I could use my new road shoes for spinning classes (LeMond RevMasters), and this post popped up in the search results!  Anyway...I'm thinking they won't be compatible. 

Also - I started a Cycling Group in the new Groups area if anyone is interested.

I tried a new pasta salad on Friday night, and everyone LOVED it!  It's from CookingLight, called Summer Black Bean and Pasta Salad

It doesn't have a huge amt of pasta in it, so it's fairly low cal... for 1.5 cups of the salad (1/4th of the recipe), here's the nutrition info - CALORIES 214(30% from fat); FAT 7.1g (sat 1.1g,mono 4.4g,poly 0.9g); IRON 2.4mg; CHOLESTEROL 0.0mg; CALCIUM 47mg; CARBOHYDRATE 35.5g; SODIUM 656mg; PROTEIN 7.3g; FIBER 7.2g

PS - don't be afraid of the pepper in it - at least with the ones I bought, the level of hotness was basically nonexistent.

Hmm...lunch is always the problem isnt it ;-)

A few things I've had lately:

mini-bagel sandwiches (100cal bagel, whipped cream cheese, bit of meat)

fruit of the season w/ yogurt or cottage cheese - berries, peaches, bananas (all the time).  with yogurt, i like to add some cereal sometimes also - usually something high fiber w/ protein, like golean crunch

taco salad - made from leftover taco fixings

string cheese

whole wheat pretzels w/ honey mustard

Aw man, clairelaine, you beat me!  Carrot raisin salad is my favorite!  :-)  In fact...I should make some! 

Also, through a...miscommunication...once, my father in law juliened a bunch of carrots & we ended up just putting a bit of salad dressing with some chopped nuts - that was pretty good. 

I really like cooked carrots too, with a bit of nutmeg sprinkled on top.

I like to grill mine - fresh from the market of course ;-)  I take of most of the layers of husk, leaving 1-2 layers.  open the top a bit and run it under the faucet to get some water inside (same effect as soaking it I suppose, but faster).  You can also do tin foil if the husks are already off.

that sounds awesome!  pasta is definitely a part of my eating habits.  I think my husband would disown me if we stopped that ;-)

I buy Nancy's yogurt - it's also a bit higher in cals (110cal for 1/2 cup) but has no artificial sweetners.  Plain is great for mixing things in - fruit, cereal, a bit of maple syrup or honey.  The vanilla is sweetened, don't remember what is used, i think honey or maple syrup. 

Basically, I'm echoing what others have said - check out a natural yogurt.  They are great for your digestive system, the live cultures work wonders, and personally, I think they fill me up better (i believe they have more protein?).

The FDA?  Really?  It's time for people to take a little bit of responsibility for their own actions.  (i know this statement doesnt necessarily take into account medical problems, etc, but...)  Americans themselves are responsible for weight gain.  It's time that we stopped trying to blame other people/entities.

If we were all halfway active, 2000 calories would probably be a great average!  I eat about that much on days when I truly exercise.

I use an air popper like sassysmom said - it plugs in, warms up, dump the popcorn in, and put a big bowl under the spout :-)

I think popcorn is a great snack.  It tends to be a bit hard on my stomach, so I don't eat it as much as I'd like.  I love to eat mine drizzled with honey!

We met my sophomore year of college - knew each other from a engineering club that we were both officers of.  I thought he was a slacker.  He was also friends w/ my next door neighbors in the dorms, while visiting them one day he turned the wrong way to borrow a guitar (was supposed to go to the room across from mine).  That was that. 

I'm a sucker for him singing ;-)

We got married in September after I graduated - so dated 2.5yrs, been married for 3, still getting to know him!

I totally believe in the 'sometimes you just know' stuff - my grandfather followed one of my great-uncles home when they were on leave during the war, and met his pretty sister, my grandma.  They went on 4 dates and then got married. They have been married for over 60 years!  We asked him once what he was thinking - he said he thought the sex would be great! (One thing I never wanted to hear my grandpa say... ;-) )

My husband recently read The Omnivore's Dilema.  And then we ran out of BBQ sauce.  So, for our next sauce (to replace the oh-so-tasty Sweet Baby Ray's), we looked for something that has absolutly no corn in it (why would you put corn of any kind in bbq sauce anyway?)  We went to QFC and came out with 2 different kinds.  I will have to check the label when I get home, but the first one we opened is AMAZING.  Sweetened with molasses and sugar, I believe.

Not sure if anyone said this - but Trader Joes has whole wheat hot dog/burger buns w/ only the necessities for making 'real' bread. 

For english muffins - check out Oroweat Double Fiber english muffins - they seem to be pretty good, and have little extra stuff.  Trader joes also has some version of these, but I don't like them as well.

Edit: B-Man's BBQ Sauce was the first one we opened.  Really good.  Actually doesn't have molasses...forgot the ingredients already ;-)  All real foods though - nothing manufactured!

Fiber 1 is a great way to get in a fiber boost for the day.  I stopped using it because it has aspartame in it. 

There are other brands/cereals that have a good amount of fiber as well, but have more calories.  I decided that to get away from the artificial sweetner, it was worth it for me to consume a few more cals.  Trader Joes has a high fiber cereal that is very similar to Fiber One. I like to mix the high fiber stuff with something like Honey Bunches of Oats (which seems to have little nutritional value - no protein, no fiber). 

Lately I've been enjoying Kashi Good Friends :-)

I also have taken iron supplements.  However, I would check w/ a dr before you start taking them because anemia is not always caused just by iron deficiency, but sometimes (as in my case) an underlying problem. 

Also - for me at least, according to my dr - the amount of iron that is in a multivitamin is basically not even worth it if you are anemic. 

There are different types of iron supplements too - your dr would tell you what is best for you to take.

Hehe - direwolf689 - liquid grass - that is exactly how I feel about plain green tea ;-)

I started with flavored blacks (orange spice, etc), and have moved all over from there. 

In my current tea stash: Work: Jasmine Pearls (one of my favorites right now), earl grey, peach ginger (black), blackberry sage (black), peppermint (another all time fav), and a bed time tea - spearamint, etc.  Home: Mighty Leaf Teas assorted - right now my favorite is Mountain Spring Jasmine or the Green Tea Tropical, but I like them all (cept the straight green), Teavana Mrs. Earl Grey, Teavana To Life (a mix of white tea, rooibus, jasmine pearls, and some other stuff), Teavana Rooibus.  Plus some random other assortments that I've picked up here and there.  I have a lot of tea.

I am experimenting with iced tea - didn't like it till recently - but I am really enjoying most of the flavors I've tried.

Oh - if you want to sample different teas, www.adagio.com is AWESOME - they have little sample tins for a few dollars, each tin makes about 5 cups of tea. 

Now I've got to go make some tea... ;-)

I usually like to eat cheese with my mouth ;-)  A little bit of crispy cheddar is the best though - like on top of homemade mac & cheese.  YUM.

dartrinton!  I have NEVER heard of anyone else who does that!!!  Grilled cheese w/ jam on top is a staple in my family.  We use Tillamook cheddar (of course, being from OR).  My favorite jam on top is strawberry.
