1. The best knife in the universe - I don't know how I cut anything before I got it! It cuts bread perfectly, tomatoes, potatoes and meat. First thing I do for anything is reach for that knife! 2. An egg whisk that is a circular snail shape instead of the standard that maked every omelete fluffy! |

Speaking of cute guys: we are 14 at our workplace - no guy options There is 1 cute guy at the yoga - haven't talked to him yet except hello and goodbye - (is it to much to ask that just once a cute guy will hit on me?) . Plus these last 2 weeks I feel kind of yuck and like I gained a little weight which shot my self esteem way down. Thats it for the guy ops - a little sad... So far today I have been good. I postponed my nutritionist for 2 weeks - I want to be a little less then last time when I see her and not a little more.... light at the end of the tunnel - tomorrow is the weekend - which means, yoga time and walking time and me time.... |

Olivia, I see you running and it makes me a bit well ashamed. I keep telling myself "tomorrow morning"....I keep setting the alarm to 5:50am and I keep snoozing my couch 25k plan away.
So proud of you for becoming a runner. Here is a little chant out to the powers that be: let this day be a good one.... ***so tired need sleep******* |

So I parked a the 15 walk away from my apt and walked it last night and this morning. Had a little more to eat then I should have but am not going to beat myself up. The loot from the party: a kaktus, a clock, a parking fairy (funny little gimic you stick in your car and pray to find a parking spot), a cook book and a bottle of martini extra dry... Im sure you have diet juices in the states - they are about 15 cals per glass. So apple martinis and campari with orange juice flowedall night... Being slightly compulsive as I am I didn't have a house warming party before the house was pretty much all put together :) So no need for too much stuff....except for a can opener , I really should get one....My four little tuna cans keep looking at me all sad and waiting to be eaten |

Hi guys, Well back at work. It was a really nice weekend. Had a house warming party and it turns out I am a kick ass bartender! Saturday was spent recuperating , cleaning the apt and cooking this weeks lunches (quinoa with brazil nuts and shredded chicken curry, YUM). Not doing so well excersising. I made myself a lovely 10 week plan with highlighted markers for the couch 2 5k plan - I need to actually go out there and do it! I made it to yoga on thursday but felt terrible throughout the class. While the last month I felt really ok with my body I now feel like I am gaining weight, I hate that feeling. I feel my tummy bloated and my pants getting tighter....I am trying not to stress out over it but its always there in the back of my mind... Well back to healthy eating. Hope everyone else is doing well! Happy week everyone! p.s. "The perfect Idiot" in french is:from IMDB: Dîner de cons, Le (1998) |

There is a Hilarious commercial in Israel for some tampon company or other: There is a woman looking at the camera, she says: "If I believed the al***s commercials I would think that during my period I was having a ball, playing soccer, dancing, wearing a thong....what a bummer it only lasts 5 days..." the ad is some sort of "this brand understands you..." but the commercial is hilarious!

Didnt make it to yoga last night either :( I got stuck at work. I read Molly's post today and decided it was high time for me to get back to the couch 2 5k plan. I have this picture in my head of me running on the beach - 10 weeks I will make it happen. Tomorrow morning I begin! Best children's movie ever made: aside from Marry Poppins would have to be Alladin, no the Lion King, no Alladin, No the Lion king ****T is fighting with herself**** ok I will have to announce a draw....Oh oh but Lilo and Stitch and Finding Nemo were really great too...oh sheesh I dunno.... Yesterday I saw "The perfect Idiot" a french movie and one of the funniest movies I ever saw -at one point I think I choked on my ice cream I was laughing so hard (that was my round about way to say I had ice cream...today I will do better) anyway the movie is highly recommended! |

How was the burger and the movie you ask? The burger was delicious - 100% sinta (I think rump) (no fat) on a whole wheat bun....with a pile of paprika fries (in case you thought the burger sounded healthy) and a 0.5 liter of Stella. It was all delicious and fun we saw "Mad Money" after...(funny) Friday I payed the price though - I felt like I had a pile of lard stuck in my lungs. I couldn't excersise I had 2 naps and chided myself for not knowing my limits - next time I will have the same meal - but share it with someone - half of that amount should be more than enough! Saturday I got back on track - walked around, went to my yoga class (got a years membership too, cooked and cleaned! Luna- We decided that now we will meet once a week for a walk and every 8 weeks we will have the burger and movie night! Usually I can plan for any kind of cheat food - but if you want to have the whole enchilada (Burger and Fries and Beer) I just prefer to ignore it and move on - Happy Week Everybody! |

Olivia, hope you heal quickly...and don't run on a swollen ankle! I love musicals! I know most of them by heart...there is just something magical about them. I can really enjoy "art" films now that I have an education in cinema but musicals will always be my first love... Oh and luna you HAVE to see West Side Story. I used to dream I would grow up to play Anita (blond chubby me So today is my friends Birthday and she decided that we will do our traditional "Burger and a Movie" now the whole point is that we all eat our fabulous , over priced burgers and drink beer and plop down to see a movie...Its tradition...All this to say that I have already logged the whole thing and today will be a 2000 calorie day. So I will try extra hard to get an hour of some kind of excersise in and no guilt! I mean she is also dieting but it is either do something else all together but if she decided on our burger and movie we shall eat it and enjoy it... Tomorrow I yoga, tonight I walk...hmmm oh and the timing is so "perfect" tomorrow I go see my nutritionist to get weighed...tomorrow of all days, after a burger and fries and beer...oh well |

Movies: Juno is so great, its smart and sweet and ironic and really really funny its really a great movie. Hairspray is really great... And if you guys want more recommendations I have a BA in cinema studies...so I can recommend great movies - they aren't necessarily easy viewing though. Best cheesy Movies of all times: 1. Ever After. 2. Sabrina (the Harrison Ford version). 3. Bridget Jones' Diary (speaking of Collin Firth - then also the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice) Best Musicals of All Times: 1. West Side Story 2. Marry Poppins 3. Sound of Music 4. Singing in the Rain 5. Chicago and Mulan Rouge are neck and neck The best "tear jerker" of all times "Color of Heaven" by Mujid Mujidi - Its Iranian and the hardest cry I ever had in any movie ever.
Isnt it nice to talk about something other than food every once in a while? Ok enough of that - I bought a chocolate cake for a co-workers B-day. I am having a slice and that will still keep me under maintenance by about 200 calories. Thats my goals these days, maintenance or a little less and life is pretty good that way. |

Rented Hairspray- It was great...I ate my salad (YUMMY) and baked potato, had a cube of dark chocolate for dessert and a 50 cal ice cream sandwich...Then I kept watching the movie (I am def. buying the soundtrack by the way). Then something super awesome happened...With the final dance number, I couldn't control it, I got up and DANCED...It was unbelievable jumping and thrashing around for a few minutes...It was fun...Long live freedom and indulging our urges- the ones that have nothing to do with food...WoooHoooo!!!! |

So far today everything is fine - avoided the cookies in the kitchen, had my zucchini casserole for lunch with a veggie burger, I am looking forward to my yogurt and special k snack and I am still considering my dinner oprtions...

Olivia, Whats the craziest thing you are going to do with your brother? You have to do a little something wacky before he goes back...like swimming at night or an unlikely road trip some piece of freedom- for me in the army re-living crazy experiences made my time much easier. Plus you get pictures which is always great :) When I get the use of my stove I will try that soup recipe! And about that stride...I think I want to try maintaining for a while and see how just leading a healthy, normal lifestyle feels...after I get the hang of that then I'll try pushing those pounds away... |

Happy Week Everybody! I feel like every week is better than the one before ever since I moved out on my own! Slowly I am finding my life rhythm - exercise for fun , eat a little bit of everything without guilt. It's eat healthy to lose a little weight or splurge a little to maintain. Its not diet or blimp out anymore. I am getting there! Olivia, have a blast with your brother! If you want ideas for care packages - I am the master for army gifties! (New underwear and new pjs are great!) Caro, It sucks to sprain your ankle, bright side: I have the 10 books I have always wanted to read always on my bookshelf - same goes for movies...you can catch up on those? |

Hi Girls, well tomorrow is officially the weekend! Yay! I had a crazy day at work compleate with choclate, and muffins, and fried foods oh my Because I worked late last night too I ended that day with about 400 cals of ice cream (sometimes I suck with the if "I am already over lets go wayyy wayyy over" mentality, WTF, silly silly me) However I have scheduled yoga for tomorrow and saturday! Olivia - from personal experience and as you might see from my little whine - it really doesn't help anything to put yourself down- and for what?! letting your body rest for 1 day! You are doing soooo great - and way to go with getting a little ab work and a little walk in! ktcort- I am sorry for your troubles. I hope you can still find room for yourself in this hard situation and keep leading a healthy life! It helps the helpless feeling to take control of your eating and excersise habits at least. I know that whenever I have said WTF and let it all go the feeling of helplessness just got worse. You deserve to be healthy and feel good even in a bad situation!
Stay strong girls! See you all on Sunday!

Using light bread is a bit tricky because it does brown before the cheese melts - I use the bread from the freezer and the cheese from the fridge - I add pesto , tomato and maybe some olives if I have cals to spare - YUMMMM I put it in the toaster oven or the oven |

Since I really hurt my back running I can tell you - The right shoes are the only thing that is important! Go to a seriouse running store and have them see exactly what shoe is right for you- due to the way you spread your weight on your feet, and whats the arch in your foot like and so on. It is really good to invest in good shoes that are exactly for YOUR feet. Socks are really important too. If you opt for a less expensive version make sure it is still answers the specifications of your feet and make sure to run on soft surfaces! If you do that you should be golden! |
