Yeah, sometimes you just have to give in to the craving BUT have a tiny bit. If it's something in particular that you've been craving, you might want to just bite the bullet and indulge a little because the more you deny yourself the more you'll crave it. As far as regular cravings you get when trying to cut calories and are craving the bad crap that you're trying to cut out, I suggest dill pickles. The spicier, the better. I found some spicy Mexican dill pickles that are to-die-for (if you like pickles, of course) and the spicy, tangy flavor kicks the ass of just about any kind of craving - including sweets - and their only 5 calories for a big ol' spear. |

Well, red wine is 25 calories per ounce, white might be the same (I drink more red than white), so how much you can have per day is really up to you. If a 6 oz glass each day can fit into your caloric budget, go for it! |

Moderation is the key for me when it comes to alcohol and nutrition. I LOVE good, craft beer (in fact, I refuse to drink anything made by InBev or AB, but that's another story) but they are the first thing I cut back on when I'm trying to lose weight. Wine and hard liquor (usually vodka for me) are easily measured and you can mix vodka with diet 7-Up or diet Coke. I also rarely imbibe Mon-Thurs, and if I do it's 6 oz of wine or 1 bottle of beer at the most. Weekends, I usually only have 2 or 3 vodka/diet mixer or wine drinks. Unless we go out or have friends over, then I have to adjust the rest of my day to accomodate the extra booze calories. Believe me, it's not easy for me to cut back on the booze - I love to drink and my hubby and I LOVE hitting up brew pubs & breweries to try new stuff. But, it IS bad for you and it IS wasted calories. I used to be in the habit of having a couple glasses of wine or a martini most weeknights, so this has been a harder adjustment for me than counting calories & eating more healthfully, but I do see faster results. Plus, my tolerance goes way down after a week or two of cutting back, so if I wanna catch a little buzz when I drink on the weekends, it doesn't take much! (BONUS!) |

I change it up so I don't get bored, but here are some of my standard breakfasts:
I fortunate enough to work from home so I have my kitchen at my disposal. Still, those meals are easy enough to do quickly in the AM before leaving for work or school and if you keep the bagels, PB, instant oatmeal and almond milk at work (if you can), you can eat a healthy breakfast at the office, too. :-) |

Well, that's kinda "unspicy", but it works! (About ordering salad without dressing.) If it's a cocktail kinda get-together and you drink, you might try alternating your alcoholic beverages with club soda or diet Coke - looks like you've got a drink and you feel like you're cocktailing 'cause you've got a glass in your hand.

Original Post by clairelaine: Clairelaine, you seem to have had the same experience(s) that I did when I gave WW a try. The first time, I lost 30 lbs and then plateaued ... then gained it all back plus some ... then lost 20 on WW ... then plateaued ... then gained it all back to end up the heaviest I've ever been (205). I never knew, until joining CC and educating myself on nutrition, that I wasn't getting enough calories or nutrients when following WW points system. Now I do, and NOW I can eat enough to stay satisfied while continuing to lose weight (aside from a 4 week plateau that've I've already gotten over). My vote is for CC - you become more educated about nutrition in general and you have a better chance of learning and keeping healthier habits. Good luck! |

Fantastic book! I bought it in January and it's been super useful. Just as a testimony as to the results of lifting ... I had to stop running (bad knee) or even doing anything on the treadmill, about a month ago. So, I started lifting again (it'd been a little while) 2-3 times per week, hooping, and jumping rope (doing HIIT 2-3 times/week) and that is IT. NO traditional cardio. I've lost more weight in 3 weeks of that routine than I did with months of running and I've noticed results in just that 3 weeks! Is it soley due to lifting? Is it because I hula hoop like a madwoman now (I love it)? Is it the HIIT that I didn't start until I couldn't run anymore? My eating (which has been super good, at least 6 days/wk)? A combo of all of them? Who knows, but I'm seeing results AND spending less time working out, so I'm stickin' with it! |

Original Post by tonyrocks922: Yeah, my sentiments exactly. You're an adult male - even if you were at your optimum goal weight, you should be having AT LEAST 1500 calories per day, and THAT is if you do nothing but lay there still, just breathing, 24x7. Though you want to lose weight, you need to adjust your calories way up to support a quick metabolism for your 5'10, 289lb frame. The fastest way to NOT lose is to eat too few calories. Even if you don't feel like you're "starving" you could be tricking your body into thinking it is ... then comes the true lack of hunger, because your metabolism has slowed down so much ... then the stall in weight loss ... then the fast gain once you start to give your body back what it needs. No bueno. |

Trader Joe's Vanilla Soy Protein Powder and 8 oz. skim milk ... usually after I work out. 203 calories & 33.3 grams of protein (combined), and if you add a couple packets of Splenda it's deeeee-licious. |

Original Post by cptbunny: I'm not too concerned that Michael Jackson's loved ones might see my insensitive comments here on the ol' CC.com forums. Now, why don't you and all the other delusional superfans come on back down here to reality. People are dying every day ... all around the world, due to unnecessary wars, in fights for rights, of extreme povery. A CHILD DIES EVERY 3 SECONDS from lack of clean water to drink. I wish there was an outcry for THOSE people like there are for celebrities. |

We all have the right to feel exactly as we do about Jackson, but I gotta say that as shocking as this is, I don't feel anything at all. The guy was SO screwed up ... I know he was found "not guilty" for molestation ... but c'mon, people, COME ON!! He paid parents off in the past to keep their mouths shut and god only knows what he really did! I will say that it's sad that such a pop culture icon was so screwed up that there probably isn't a single one of us who could fathom what it was like to be him ... but still. Being that he was pretty screwed up, I'd bet he was self-medicating for a long, long time. He was also training with Lou Ferrigno to get in shape for his sold-out 50-date tour coming up, so who knows, maybe that had something to do with it. People tend to turn the dead into saints, regardless of whether it's deserved, just because they died (something we ALL will do, let's not forget), and it turns my stomach to see people doing this already. Ugh. Good riddance. Sadly, HIS death will overshadow Farrah's in the media. Sadder still, Cris Angel (the world's biggest bag-o-douche) is still alive and well. HA! (Sorry, I got a little too morose for my own good, had to throw in a zinger). OH, and those of you who will think I'm a horrible, cold, inhuman bitch because of my comments ... remember, I've got the right to feel that way, just as you have the right to think that of me. Oh, and if that doesnt' do it for ya, I coud give a rat's ass anyway! ;-) |

Amen, Melkor! I loves me some deadlifts! And here are a ton of butt exercises/lifts/strength training moves ... Train With Me Online. I've also found that any incline is good and the elliptical machine can really lift the booty as well. Good luck! |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
