His meaning is this: If you split a meal into two meals, then you will be far less likely to have snacks for a longer part of the day. Snacks are typically the worst of the food people eat, and have substantial calories. Eating more, smaller meals is very beneficial. |

I have no problem with eating treats and even eating over the calorie limit a lot some days, just as long as I log everything accurately. With the logging, you can get real world examples of how portion control can help, even when eating over the limit. In summary, be diligent and log accurately but don't feel guilty. |

In a related sci-fi movie, Aliens, terraforming was being performed, which changed the atmosphere of the entire planet to make it habitable. Unfortunately for the colony, a superior predator already existed there. |

BMI was never designed to accurately predict mortality. A far more accurate method to predict "risk of heart attack, stroke or death", is: Waist-to-height ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaEven simply waist size is substantially better at predicting mortality risk than BMI. Simply put, if your waist is more than 1/2 of your height, than you are at increased risk of death. |

At the top of the list of people I feel sorry for are the ones starving, which number around 800 million. The number is down from about 1 billion in the 1990s, but food prices have jumped last decade. That hurt the poorer countries pretty bad at the time. |

The way I look at it, Indiana is just one giant corn field, just like Ohio, where I grew up. Haha, just kidding. But there's millions of acres of corn farms in either state. It's a good state. It's hard to make moves for me, too. Meet some of those in-shape California women or guys and you'll do fine. |

When I hit the plateaus, I find the cause is inaccurate measurement of foods. It could be different for you, but with with me, I sometimes not log a food or two, or guesstimate a serving size. It never works out right. Also, never go by how much you gain in one day. You can only really go over a trend over a period of time. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking your weight in a single day a problem. I've been there. In summary, I recommend using a scale for all ingredients for food that isn't packaged in its serving size.

I eat a bowl of cereal, and sometimes some peanuts even when I'll work out hard after that. I never have a problem. I eat good afterwards. Edit: If I am going to have a long workout, which means 2 or more hours, I bring several 'power' bars, nuts or other snacks to eat in the middle. This happens when I do something like a 30+ mile ride on my bike. |

You should tell her exactly what you told us: That she upset you by saying that and you lost that much weight. Some people don't know they are upsetting you and must be told, sometime several times. |

To counter any concern you may have about overeating during some periods, I recommend careful logging and accuracy during logging of your food. Make sure you weigh foods carefully, especially when you go over, on the weekends. I find when I do that, I tend to make adjustments even to weekend meals, eventually, because I can see the impact on my goal, if it is too big. I bet the same will happen for you. Measuring can be a pain but I recommend weighing your plate before and after eating so you know the weight. |

What I've been doing is trying to hold out for 1 hour. If the hunger subsides, then I'm good. However, I also make sure that I hit a flat minimum of 1500 calories a day since I'm a guy. In addition, just for a reward and not to be completely starved, I eat at least 1/2 of the calories I burn during workouts. Sometimes I eat all of it, or even more, because I'm famished. But I try to hold out for awhile. Sometimes I know it's pointless and just eat more. If you are working out regularly, the weight will be lost. Everyone goes over some days. What you eat can make you hungry shortly afterwards. Processed foods can be worse, and complex carbs. Pasta can do it, potatoes. If you have lean meats, they are excellent for appetite suppression. Proteins are key. Get a good piece of chicken, steak, or fish, and it helps a lot. |

The most important time is before, during and just after exercise. Drink plenty of water then, but also the usual 8 glasses of water per day, whenever you want. Sometimes I'll drink all 96 ounces of water at once but I don't recommend it to others. I do it cause I'm crazy like that. j/k. but i do drink 40 ounces of water sometimes. |
