Fargo ND:

Blizzards, floods, ice storms, below freezing temperatures,  wind and tornados.

The first part of winter when everyone drives like they've forgotten what state they are in.

Done the tissues and paper, also coins, batteries and chapstick, as well as cigarette lighters. Oddly once they dry they usually still work.

So far no electronics, knock wood.

Considering my social circles of Star Wars fandom, I and my demographic would probably assault the author of that article with a tidal wave of "BULLEXCREMENT"

6,000+ members around the world, of ages ranging from 18 to mid-60s.  Professions ranging from homemakers and students to attorneys, medical professionals, active duty military, educators, scientists, businesspeople of all walks of life, firefighters, law enforcement officers....and we all dress up as life-sized Star Wars action figures.

Bob Barker tried to make fun of us live on air when we marched in the Rose Bowl parade in 2007.  He later apologized when he was clued in on who we are, what we do, and why.

You're in the 501rst? I have some friends in there. I'm a big SW fan, though not in to the cos play. I'll never give up my fandom (sci fi, action etc.)

I'm not normally an eye for an eye type of person, or a death penalty person, but  I can't think of a punishment harsh enough.

One of the girls was only 14 when they took her and there were little kids in the house. As a rule pedophiles don't usually last long in prison.

Morgan and Garcia from Criminal Minds (love the whole cast, but especially those 2)

Everybody on CSI and Pawn Stars

Cast of M*A*S*H (yes it's old, but it's timeless)

probably more, can't think right now

If it's on the shelf and not tagged or in large plastic that needs to be opening by clerk, I see lots of shoplifting by underage, scared and too poor to pay for it girls.

When I worked retail (many moons ago) it wasn't uncommon to find empty pregnancy tests, as girls would shoplift them, rather than pay for them, or go to Planned Parenthood.

I didn't totally hate it, but I wasn't impressed either. Ragnar is being a real jackwagon, and even his son is calling him on it.

I'm not sure I like the direction it is taking, but I guess I'll wait until 2014 to see where it goes.

Poor Geyda ( I was hoping her part would get bigger).

Wonder if Rollo is going to throw Wagner under the ship this time, or he has something else in mind.

Definately could have been better.

I love it, but I'm also not happy with the direction some stories seem to be taking. Ragnar is becomming a jackwagon. Though I do like the way they show the mother daughter bond with Lagertha and Geyda (love that name)

I knew there was some of that, such as Viking funerals, but the whole service started out reminding me of church before it turned into a giant party and then got gory.

I think it was probably because of the sacrifice, before I watched it I was scared they were going to blame him for the miscarriage, though I knew he wouldn't be leaving the show.

I don't under stand the seers looks either, but then Floki's eye make up makes me wonder also.

Did anyone else find last night's episode rather distrubing. I knew that sacrifice happened but that was bordering on too much for me. I'm surprised the show doesn't have a warning before it, like Hatfields and McCoys did.

I plan to keep watching it, but yikes. I can't believe Ragnar and Legratha would do such a thing.

My oldest daughter is a doula and she encapsulates placentas if the mom wants to take them as pills.

Not my idea of something I would have done, but it is a popular request.

Huh - apparently other mammals do it, so maybe there's some evolutionary reason behind it.

Still, ew...

There is, to hide the scent and keep away predators, something humans stopped needing to do a long time ago, unless someone plans on having their baby in the middle of the wilderness.

edit: the coffee hasn't kicked in and I forgot how to spell

I'm lucky in that basic cable is included in my rent, so it costs me nothing. Though I would like to have seen Game of Thrones to see what the hype was, I also wish I could watch Dr. Who. I loved the original series (huge Tom Baker fan), but after watching the first season online, I gave up (not enough time).

I can't afford satellite or the pay channels, not for just a few shows. I may just go back watching some online, or dvd.

What was is that you were doing when you first realized you needed bifocals/reading glasses?

ie; reading a book, computer, label.

I'm curious because I feel like I'm getting close. . .

When reading normal print suddenly became difficult and I needed my computer monitor way too close. Also when I would look far away and then to something up close and my eyes would need a moment or so to refocus (astigmatism).

I never used to have any trouble reading, even smaller print. About a year or so ago it was impossible with out magnification, now I can enjoy books again.

I've thought about contacts off and on but it just seemed like to much trouble, and I don't like the idea of putting something in my eyes.

I"m 43 and I've had single vision glasses since I was 14, my nearsightedness has been getting worse ever since. Legally I can't even drive with out glasses as I can't see didly if it's not in front of my nose.

The last year or so I had trouble going from near to far, or vice versa as it would take my eyes a few moments to refocus. I had started using cheapo reading glasses and had to have the font on my computer large and moved too close.

I mostly have the hang of them, but I do sometimes get the vertigo if I'm looking wrong and move my head too fast. Fortunately it doesn't happen very often. I would have had them sooner, but I had to wait until after the new year before my insurance would kick in.

I don't have glaucoma, but I live in fear of it, because it robbed my grandmother of her sight (back in the early/mid 70's when there weren't many good drugs for it).

No thanks, I think I prefer the more tradional mementos, first hair cut, first tooth, pictures etc.. (those I have had for 19+ years, thought it embarasses him)
